The Meaning of Tanween:

It is a Noon Saakinah that occurs at the end of nouns

Types of Tanween:

There are three types of Tanween:

1. Tanween Fat-hah: that is pronounced with Fathah on the letter joined to Noon
Saakinah

Example:

2. Tanween Kasrah: that is pronounced with Kasrah on the letter joined to Noon
Saakinah

Example:
= = = + .
3. Tanween Dhammah: that is pronounced with Dhammah on the letter joined to
Noon Saakinah

Example:
` = = ` = + .

The way of pronunciation:

The Tanween always comes at the End of the word. So, the way the
Tanween is pronounced is like a Noon Saakinah at the end of the word.

Why Tanween is written in three different ways!!

As mentioned earlier, Tanween on a certain letter is pronounced
as a Noon sakinah following the letter that has the Tanween.

` = = ` = + .

The Pronounciation of this Noon sakinah caused by the Tanween
depends on the letter that follows the letter with tanween.That is why
we have three sets of Tanween Shapes:

1- The first shape

When this set of Tanween is followed by one of the following
letters, the Noon sakinah is pronounced as a Clear Noon.

2- The second shape

This set can be either followed by: -

a) one of the following letters . , ; _ ,:
The Noon sakinah will be pronounced as a Noon mixed with the
next letter:
With Ghunna 2 beats if followed by one of these letters :

b) any letter other than the previous letters:

The Noon sakinah will be pronounced as hidden Noon with
Ghunnah 2 beats :

According to the following letter it could be:
Light Ghunnah

This set is always followed by letter . The Noon sakinah will be
pronounced as a hidden Meem with Ghunnah 2 beats.
