Dear Residents, The Higher Blackley and Charlestown Policing Team will be hosting three BobIn Bobby events in March. This is a great opportunity to meet Officers and discuss any issues which matter to you. If you are receiving this News Bulletin by e-mail, I have included two attachments which provide full details, including date, time and location of these events. Alternatively, please contact the Higher Blackley and Charlestown Policing Team on the numbers below for full details. Over the last few weeks, I have told you all about how we are tackling crime and disorder in your area. I have specifically highlighted some of our key priorities, these being burglary, vehicle crime and Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB). I have just compared crime statistics in these areas for January and February this year with the same period last year and I am very pleased to announce reductions in all of these areas. Essentially, this means there are fewer victims this year compared to last year. We will strive to make further reductions over the forthcoming months. The Safer Schools programme (SSP) has had a hugely positive impact in the local Community. There are four police officers from our team who spend all of their time at Schools in the Higher Blackley, Charlestown and Moston areas. Kristina Jones is dedicated to Our Ladys School and Alison Broughton covers the Cooperative Academy. I have been into both schools and I must say they are both very welcoming places with excellent facilities, fantastic teachers/staff and wonderful pupils. SSPs not only address poor behaviour and truancy rates, but help improve safety and academic attainment. Communities beyond the school gates have greatly benefited, with reduced levels of ASB and improved relationships with young people, the police and other partners. Police Officers at the school are responsible for the following;

work with schools on behaviour and discipline issues identify and work with children and young people at risk of becoming victims or offenders ensure young people remain in full-time education (a proven preventative factor in steering young people away from crime) support vulnerable children and young people through periods of transition, such as the move from primary to secondary school and as victims of crime
