Finishing Well
It was a cool evening on October 20, 1968 in Mexico City Olympic Stadium. The sun had already set, and it seemed that the last of the marathon runners had arrived, completely exhausted. Over an hour earlier, Mamo Wolde of Ethiopia crossed the finish line as the winner of the 26-mile event. But then the sound of sirens split the air. The few who were still there turned and saw a slow-moving figure wearing number 36 with the colors of Tanzania. He was the last man to finish the race and had fallen earlier, injuring his knee and ankle. He grimaced with each hobbling step around the track. The few spectators who were there gave him a standing ovation. He did not finish first, but he finished well. When asked why he had continued, even though there was no chance of winning, he replied: My country did not send me 7,000 miles to start the race. They sent me 7,000 miles to finish it. May we also finish the race (2 Timothy 4:7). Paul challenged the Colossians, Say to Archippus, take heed to the ministry which you have received in the Lord that you may fulfill it (4:17). God gave us the wonderful ministry of this church, but we must fulfill it. Perhaps God has called you to a tough task. You may be bloodied in the battle, but you dont have to be beaten. We continue to face the challenge of Climbing Higher, Shining Brighter as we ask all who attend our church to pray about their participation in the gospel from the first day until now (Philippians 1:5). Buildings, budgets, personnel, and programs are only valid if they are tools for advancing the gospel of Christ and discipling believers for the glory of God. A large part of fulfilling the ministry involves being indebted to minister in material things and to put our seal on this fruit (Romans 15:27, 28). Continue to pray about the special offering on March 24 & 25 to significantly reduce our capital campaign debt and to ultimately cross the finish line.

There is a guest reception in the Commons immediately following the Saturday night and Sunday morning 11:00 service. Come and meet Pastor Wicker.

Pregnancy Resource Center of Southwest Florida (PRC) continues to fulfill the mission of saving the lives of unborn children from abortion by meeting the physical and emotional needs of our clients and sharing the good news of Jesus Christ. In 2011, PRC saw more women considering abortion and more minds were changed than ever before. PRC aims to make an impact on the culture whereby hearts and lives are transformed by the gospel of Jesus Christ and every woman chooses life for her unborn child and eternal life for herself. Last year, God provided many opportunities for sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. The centers services provide a tremendous benefit to the entire community because PRC is building healthy and stable families. PRC does this by providing pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, childbirth and parenting classes, mentoring, community referrals, and post-abortion support. All of these services are confidential and free of charge. PRC shares these services with over 500 women and men in the community every year. PRC is committed to caring for the clients with love and compassion regardless of their pregnancy decision. If you have any questions or would like information regarding volunteer opportunities, post-abortion counseling, or community service referrals, please e-mail or call Juliette, the Client Services Director, at Juliette@ prcnaples.org, or 239-513-9775. Why you should serve in Preschool and Childrens Ministries

1. Children are important to God.
I dont know about you, but I want to serve in ways that matter most to God. There is no question about Gods attitude toward children. The Bible tells us that children are a blessing from God. While Jesus was on earth, He made a point to welcome children and to affirm their value. He even talked about punishment for anyone who would abuse a child. Make no mistake, children matter to God. If children matter to you as they do to God, then you should serve in Preschool and Childrens Ministries. Stay tuned...next week we will share the #2 reason why you should serve in Preschool and Childrens Ministries. Find out how you can personally impact kids for Jesus! Call Beverly (Preschool) at 596-8600 x351 or Larry (Childrens) at 596-8600 x370.
