BACKGROUND Revolution in modern information technology and science has made the world a smaller place with all

countries within easy reach. Access of quality education , health care services , quality food , shelter and social security with the provision of all necessary services, have become the essential needs of the common people in developed countries whereas these very essential needs have become exclusive privileges of wealthy affluent class in most of developing countries. Nursing education covers a wide spectrum incorporating medical science , behavioural science, social science and managerial science and at the same time involves hands on experience as a major segment of the course. The generic B.SC nursing programme prepares academically sound nursing graduate to fulfill the demand of graduate nurses to carry out the role of care provider , manager , teacher and researcher in various health institution in country. The programmeincludes the theoretical and practical course work for developing essential knowledge and clinical competence in practicing nursing in various area including medical, surgical, paediatric, psychiatric , maternity, in the hospital and community setting similarly it include family health, nutrition, reproductive health, regard to disease prevention and control , environmental health and healthy life style. In order to facilitate better learning , this curriculum uses integrated approach in its course organization and participatory approach in the teaching learning process. Hence the course consist of several parallel strands. The curriculum

aims at through integration within each strand and an attempt has been made to achieve integration between strands as well to extent possible. His majestys government of Nepal , ministery of healthhas committed itself to raise health status of people of Nepal by pursuing the strategy of primary health care in order to realize the objective of health for all which call for intercostals co-ordination as well as active community participation and involvement. Besides being integrated the curriculum is community oriented , partially community based, partially problem based and predominantly student centred. The curriculum has taken into consideration the health statics and national health policy of Nepal. It is hoped that this thoroughly contemporary curriculum with a futuristic outlook will contribute towards producing nurses who are knowledgeable, skilled and compassionate, while at the same time being equipped with leadership and teaching abilities, such nurses should be able to fulfill an important lacuna in human resources of Nepal in health sector and make way for a better health scenario in the country.
