CIOs challenges 2010.

Challenges of many CIOs in 2010: IT budgets approx. 20% lower in 2009 2010 on previous years level 60 - 80 % of IT budgets are spent for IT operation IT is less complex in detail, but more complex in the entire landscape Energy consumption is on the agenda: Costs, limitation in DCs, carbon certificates Privately used IT is more up-to-date than IT deployed in enterprises Market standards Green ICT Innovation

Increased economy

The answer: Cloud Computing ?

What marketing flyer tell us: Reduction of costs: - Cloud services are less expensive - Just pay what you use Cash flow optimization: turning CAPEX into OPEX Highly standardized Configuration instead of Customization Cloud DCs with PUE < 1,3 Evergreening no more highly complex upgrades

Creation of new appliances is less complicated than with Amazon EC2, really nice and easy to use solution extremely fast start of deployments; easy handling of snapshot tool. Dr. Ralph Mietzner, University Stuttgart, Institute for Architecture of Application Systems As many still just talk about Cloud Services on ppt, NSN especially wanted a real and practical pilot test. NSN was taken positive surprise how fast T-Systems could give NSN access to a private cloud, secure but still with ease of use for individual users. Kenneth Lindstrm, Head of IT Infrastructure Solutions, Nokia Siemens Networks We are on the pilot since beginning of 2010 using it foremost as a Developer Cloud and a testing environment. Our own developer community and external work force have been integrated into the offering and as an R&D unit our requirements on security are on a very high level. Marten Schnherr, T-Labs, Research and Development The T-Systems IaaS cloud can be used intuitively, permits comfortable installation and starting of applicances with integrated resource management and includes informative activity and status messages Dr. Thomas Kreye, CFA, Just Software AG
