From my involvement in the Finance society over the last two terms I have come to see its flaws

and want to bring positive change to it over the coming year. Here is my proposal: Interactive Sessions and Educational Seminars. Short interactive group trading sessions to exchange ideas, analyse charts and compare performance. Any trader, experienced or new, knows that discussion leads to critique and ultimately refined trading practices. Isolated traders often miss out on these opportunities. I want to run workshops for all levels of experience: Taking Your First Steps into Trading Which platform should I use? When should I trade? How do I monetise interests across industries? Inter-market correlations analysis Which securities move together and why? How can I exploit this to profit? Foreign Exchange and Leverage Which currency pairs to trade? What time should I trade them? How should I manage risk? What volumes do I trade? Optimal Portfolio Allocation Strategies How should I divide between asset classes? What is your risk appetite? How do I hedge my positions? Approaching Fundamental and Technical Analysis How do I apply indicators such as Ichimoku Kinko Hyo? What is relevant reading? Newspapers, annual reports or blogs? What weight should I give each analysis?

More Trading Games and Challenges I want to hold card based trading games regularly with prizes. These sessions are also aimed at improving each participants ability to act as a market maker with time constraints and perform faster mental arithmetic under pressure. This will prepare members for official games organised by banks where there could be internship opportunities. WIC hosted trading league with a better platform which does not have time lags with an emphasis on reviewing strategies at the end of each round to enhance performance in the following league. Interactive venues with an atmosphere of a trading floor similar to the RBS Traders Trophy trading game. I will explore the possibility of teaming up with Traderversity to offer a platform with live prices for users to get together for a session of trading a single security to compare P&L.

Weekly brainteasers to stretch your mind. Hopefully you will be ready for your next trading internship interview at Goldmans! WIC Weekly Wrap Up & News Updates WIC needs an independent outlet for its news updates and communications. Weekly and relevant - I want to make sure that wrap ups are regular and that you want to read them. We want your contributions to add value. Have you been to been to our educational seminars? What have you learnt that you can share? What have you observed in the market that you can share? Motivational Talks Learn from the masters lets get some people who know what they are talking about on campus to educate and motivate us budding investors! Some ideas I have had: Jane Street As a proprietary trading firm who already comes to our careers fair with an eye for Warwick graduates, they have a vested interest in helping to guide your skill set to their standards. Brewin Dolphin How do Brewin manage a 24bn investment portfolio as one of the UKs largest independent private client investment managers.

Networking is invaluable for students wishing to progress in the financial services industry and as Vice President I want to increase these opportunities. Setting up an Investment Fund Some have said that this could not be achieved. I believe otherwise and will talk more on this in my speech. Accountability As an executive member of the WIC I will be accessible to all members and seek to gauge opinion on how we are progressing throughout the year. Any issues that arise can be addressed to me directly via email.

If you feel that this is what WIC needs, then vote for me to deliver it. Come to MS.02 on Wednesday 14 March and vote John Ahn.
