SUMMER ACADEMY CAMP OVERVIEW: The Tiger Woods Learning Center in Anaheim, California offers youth ages 11-13 the opportunity to participate in one-of-a-kind STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) or GOLF Programs. STEM Academy participants spend a week utilizing cutting edge technology to learn the skills needed to be an engineer, zoologist, video game architect, or car designer. GOLF participants learn basic game skills, practice with professional Nike equipment at our exceptional facility, as well as participate in clubmaking, video swing analysis, and golf fitness workshops. Spending the days at the Learning Center and the evenings at the Outdoor Education Center provides a balance between summertime education and summertime fun! DATES: July 15 20, 2012 LOCATION: DAYTIME: Classes - Tiger Woods Learning Center; www.twlc.org EVENING: Camp/ Residential - Outdoor Education Center; www.outdooreducationcenter.org IMPORTANT APPLICANT INFORMATION: Applications are due no later than April 15, 2012. BEST PART OF THE STUDENTS SUMMER ACADEMY CAMP CLASSES: Being able to create something with my own hands that I am proud of. The best thing about my Summer Academy class is that I got to make different types of vehicles powered by different types of energy. I also got to design and build a dragster out of balsa wood. Having fun and learning new techniques to improve my [golf] game and the coaches Mr.G and Mr.B were really fun and helpful. The best thing about my Summer Academy class is learning how to build robots and how to program them using software. The best thing about my Summer Academy class was the new knowledge that I acquired about robotics and how resourceful it can be. The teachers were really supportive and they really taught me something which was how animals work and how that you make your own decisions. There was always a teacher or someone there to help me and my group whenever we needed it. Trip to Disneyland, campfire (mostly the smores) all of science class, making new friends. The BEST thing about TWLC was definitely meeting awesome people and friends who you wouldn't find back in Washington DC. The best thing was golfing. The instructors were nice, I had a lot of fun and I really feel like I learned something.
