Hi: Welcome to BUS 3170 International Business The syllabus will give you the details about the

course, but I am listing the most important information below in a FAQ format, so that you know what to expect and decide if you would like to withdraw from the course. You will have a plenty of reading and on-line quizzes, for which no make-ups are allowed. It is your responsibility to secure access to a computer, solve connections problems and to make sure that your work and personal obligations do not interfere with your course work. Your first assignment, in addition to the readings, is to write down the dates of the quizzes in your personal calendar and the date and time of the final. These dates will not be changed for your convenience. The custom book is available in the Bookstore and I filed copy in Library Reserve. If you have copy, make sure it is from the 7th Edition (2008). See syllabus for details. This on-line course will open in Blackboard the first day of class. Please log in, open the Course Information tab, print your syllabus, read it thoroughly and, again, mark down all the dates for on-line work in your personal calendar. If you have problems logging-in contact the College to make sure everything is fine with your registration. 1-What would I have to do? Log in and download documents when the Professor asks you to do so. That is how attendance is taken for on-line courses. Blackboard registers your activities date, time and extension. Study eight chapters, take eight on-line quizzes and take a final, which will not be on-line. 2-What will I learn about? You will learn about the most important aspects of international business. 3-How often should I log into Blackboard for this course? You will normally log in three times a week. 4- How often will the Professor e-mail me? The Professor will e-mail you at least twice a week. 5-Which is my most important grade? The final count for 80% of the total grade.

6-How do I prepare for the exams? Write down the answers to the questions that the Professor posts one week before each quiz. Taking the quiz should take you about five minutes if you do this. If you look for the answers as you take the quiz (or cheat) just to get a few points, you will miss the point: learning the material for the final, which is where most of your grade is based on. The final consists of 92 out of the same 120 questions you will answer in your eight quizzes, and eight surprise questions, one for each chapter. 7- Do students fail the course? Many do, and many get As if they follow instructions. 8-Do we meet? No, just for the final. 9-Can I get a make-up if I miss a quiz? No. Students are given enough time to prepare and perform their work. 10- Can I e-mail quizzes to the professor? No. Only quizzes taken on-line in the Blackboard Assignments tab are accepted. The professor will return quizzes sent via e-mail. 11- How do I take the on-line quizzes? A week before the quiz you will get the questions. Answer them right away. Open the Assignments tab in Blackboard during the designated day and take it there. It takes five minutes to do the multiple-choice quiz when you prepare the answers ahead of time. 12-Can I meet with the professor? Yes, if you make an appointment to see him in his office. He can help you better understand the material. 13-Would the Professor answer grade inquiries by e-mail? No. You must see him in person for that.
