FRANKS GOT THE FUNK

Born in 2009, Franks Got The Funk is a band which treads in various genres, primarily influenced by Electronic and Progressive rock. Bjorn, the bands front man and vocalist, formed it, after which the band saw the entry of Vikram (keyboardist) followed by Sajith and Shashank (bassist and drummer). Mervin (lead guitarist) stepped in to complete the picture. The band has yet another member - Frank. An alter-ego of the band, he writes all their songs for them. The band has a simple principle which they stick to when making their music Its all about fun and love for the music based on situations and incidents which theyve been through . In fact, the sole motivation for the band to record and release their music is to get the music out there to the people. The surging energy and the addictive songs the band churns out are complemented by the capturing stage presence and wacky costumes, which keeps audiences enraptured and jumping

THE CONCEPT
Frank is an idea. An ever evolving persona that incorporates the imagination, the hopes and dreams of four young people. Frank's Got The Funk, the band, is the musical personification of that imaginary persona.

Too complicated? Here's the cliff notesFive young people got together and decided to make some music. Frank was born. A mascot, an alter-ego, call him whatever you may. A mysterious, well traveled gent with a particular predilection towards top hats who acts as a conduit, a guide if you will, allowing the boys to explore the insipid and dull lives we live and find something in them that is worth celebrating and singing about.

Frank is always there. He survives, nay thrives in the midst of the music. And as Frank thrived, so did the band. Money, fame and recognition followed. Women too. Some fantastic women with great big-, but I digress. Then came the album. The Next Level it was called. If Frank was a really square dude who liked putting neat little labels on everything, the album would probably fit rather snugly into the box labeled Rock/Electronica/FunFunk. But he isn't. So it doesn't. That tag is indicative of the music FTGTF plays though.

FGTF, as the band is popularly known, have won various competitions such as Deep woods, NLS Strawberry fields, NXG Rock star and many more. After proving themselves in the inter-collegiate circle, the band progressed to playing professional gigs and live acts, headlining in different colleges. Once the band had achieved all that they had aspired to, in the college foray, they decided to take it to the The Next Level. And thats precisely what they did. The bands first album was released in August 2011, aptly named the Next Level, to an overwhelming response from all quarters. An independent album, it was produced in Toby's Garage. The bands vision as far as the near future is concerned is to get their music out across the country and play professional gigs of all sorts. In the long run, they aim to hit the international stage and take it by storm!
