ABNKKBSANPLAKO is written by the Filipino author, Bob Ong.

Bob Ong is a pseudonym for a contemporary Filipino author who uses a conversational humorous method to catch the interest of his readers. ABNKKBSANPLAKO tackles about the life of the author from his schooldays and some of his experiences as a professional. The first part of his book tells a story of his elementary days. His adventures and experiences are very much similar to mine and I believe it is also the same to the elementary students of the present. Lack of chairs, the system of buying and selling foods, the teachers pet theory, the supernatural stories, and the afternoon tiangge outside the school is still experienced until today. When I was reading this book nostalgia of my elementary days returned. The same as the author, I love to boast my new things every first day of classes. I experienced to be a teachers pet, have my classroom wet from the rain, bought books from the surprise guests, believed in the supernatural stories, transferred from a different section if our adviser is absent. Even if the students are very much different in their own way, there are still some similarities if youve been or you are an elementary student here in the Philippines The second part of his book was about his highschool days. This is the time where the estrogens and progesterones spurt out. Girls start to pay attention to their looks and guys do the same too. This is the time where we humans try to search or make our own identity, search for acceptance and be recognized. We make things for us to be popular, for us to fit in. Highschool is a very critical stage. If youre not popular then youre out. The author had his unique experiences in his highschool life but he still made me remember my own highschool days. The pressure of projects with deadline, plays, activities like junior and senior prom, independent field trips, and puppy love. Im

very sure all present and past highschool students experienced the same. But what is so unique with the highschool days that even Sharon Cuneta wrote a song about it? Highschool is the stepping stone in reality. This is the stage where we start to create a name for ourselves. The stage where we learn to make and break friendships, tag funny names to our teachers, do power trips, and start relationships. This is the place where we learn how to be human, be independent is some way in preparation for a much harder and complicated future. The next part of his book was all about his college days. This is where our established independence and identity is being put the test. New and unfamiliar faces, much more complicated activities, inconsiderate pressures and rescuing of self are much what you will encounter as a college student. The author didnt have a very successful college experience. He didnt have a degree. Before, when I first heard about Bob Ong being successful in his writing career, I thought he was a very intelligent person, a professor, and a graduate from a known prestige school. His college days were his worst. He struggled passing some of his subjects, a lot of incompletes, and a spirit broken. He wasnt able to bear the pressure. He failed to stand on the identity that he established. But he was given a second chance. He took up a vocational course. Hes self-esteem was slowly built up and he redeemed himself. After finishing his vocational course, he became a substitute computer teacher in a highschool institution. After a being a student he had a peek on what it is like being a teacher. What a very unusual coincidence, but I believe he was put into that situation to write a book about it.

In our country, education has a very high value. Our parents use to tell us, study hard so that you may have a better life ahead of you, and we children burn our eyebrows to fulfil this command. This book changed my perspective about education. The author highlighted the situation of education in our country but much more than that he highlighted the importance of the people behind this what we so called education. In school is where we learn a lot of things not just inside the classroom. Most of our time is spent inside this institution. A school is an institution designed in teaching students. Here in the Philippines, we have this so called formal type of education. In this system, students progress through a series of schools. Included in these schools are primary schools for young children and secondary schools for teenagers. An institution where higher education is taught is commonly called a college or university. Before a child can step into primary education, at a very young age they are enrolled into kindergarten or pre school. University, vocational school, college or seminary may be available after secondary school. A school may also be dedicated to one particular field, such as a school of economics or a school of dance. Alternative schools may provide non-traditional curriculum and methods. There are also non-government schools, called private schools. Private schools may be for children with special and the government does not supply for them. Schools for adults include institutions of corporate training, Military education and training and business schools. In homeschooling and online schools, teaching and learning take place outside of a traditional school building. Our education, has evolved
