GUIDANCE ON COMPLETING THE YOUNG GRADUATES FOR MUSEUMS & GALLERIES APPLICATION FORM
You are advised to read this guidance before completing the attached application form. It is important that you complete this form adequately to increase the chances of your application being taken forward. It is therefore worth taking a little care about how you present yourself. Remember this programme is for students in year 12 and 13 only. General Read the entire form thoroughly before writing anything on it, this will help you; make a note of the first ideas that come to you, particularly the narrative part of the questions in the second half of the form. It may help if you write a first draft of your application form on separate sheets of paper. This will help you to spot grammatical or spelling errors, and allow you to have a final check on how the form reads before completing the final version. It also helps to keep the form neat and free of corrections. Make sure you take a photocopy of your application form for future reference and please answer all questions.

SPECIFIC SECTIONS Section A - Personal Details Fill out all your personal details including the monitoring form. This will not form any part of our decision; it is only to help us develop a greater base of knowledge about our Young Graduate for Museums and Galleries population. Section B - Education List all your GCSE results. You will also need to list the AS or A2 level subjects you are currently studying and any additional courses you may be taking i.e. NVQs. Please send a copy of your GCSE results with your application form.

Section C About You This is the section where you really sell yourself. In addition to strong and consistent academic performance, we are looking for people who can show evidence of

Section D - About School List the subjects you feel you excel at and/or need improvement in, stating why. Voluntary or paid work experience you have completed to date. If you have had any work experience, please list them in this section in chronological order remember to include voluntary work and Saturday jobs.

Declaration It is important that you sign and date the application form otherwise; your application cannot be considered. Please return the form to The Natural History Museum using the address on the front of the application form. Not everyone who applies will be interviewed. If you have not heard form the YGMG office by the 16th December 2011 it means you have not been successful on this occasion. The deadline to return the application form to The Natural History Museum is 21st October 2011 at 5pm. The next stage is that candidates will be called for an interview once we have received your application form. Please note that interviews will be conducted in November - December 2011 and January 2012. Successful applicants will be notified by January and February 2012. All successful applicants will be expected to attend the Launch of Young Graduates for Museums and Galleries programme the date of which will be confirmed to successful applicants.
