READER RESPONSE

To say that Tom Sawyer was an a verage young boy growing up in Illinois would be an understatement. "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer", written by Mark Twain is an absolutely enchanting book. Based on this book, Tom Sawyers characteristics is one of the aspect that I would touch that are not satisfied in the novel which are disr espectful, lazy and not a serious person. The first Tom Sawyers characteristic that is dissatisfaction is disrespectful. In the first chapter, there is a part where Tom Sawyer was eating jam without his aunty, Aunt Pollys permission. Then, Aunt Polly found him and begins to punish with a stick. To get away from punishment, he tricked Aunt Polly. In this point of view, we as a younger one should respect elder people. Not tricked them. Other than that, he is a lazy person. W e can see there was a part in the novel where a day people used to gather at the church to compare notes on the past weeks events. In the morning, Tom Sawyer felt very lazy and because of Aunt Pollys wiliness, he has to go. As a result, he dressed up untidily. Actually, he should not do that because although he was lazy, he must attend and not showing his rebellious. From that, it teaches us to be a good person.

The last point is about Tom Sawyers characteristic which is his seriousness. Tom Sawyer is not a serious person. He cannot sit still in church or in school and always finds some diversion, such as watching a bug, to make the time pass more quickly. Just an inquisitive one whos mind never rested, always dreaming, and making his dreams sound so good. Process in becoming ma ture, Tom Sawyer must stay focused and be more serious in his life, so that people will respect him as a real boy. In conclusion, not all characters included Tom Sawyer, brought along the negatives side but they also have the positive side. All the dissatisfaction above is list so that we can improve the characters quality in particular aspect.
