SCIENCE YEARLY LESSON PLAN SEKOLAH KEBANGSAAN GAYANG TUARAN YEAR 3 2011 PRAKTIKUM II (8 MINGGU) THEME WEEK : LEARNING

ABOUT THE WORLD AROUND US LEARNING AREA LEARNING OBJECTIVE 1.1 Understand that some materials can absorb water 2-3 1. Absorption 1.2 Explain that some materials can absorb more water than others 1.3 State the uses of the ability of materials that absorb water. 2.1 Explain that spring will return to its original size and shape. NOTE

OUTCOMES Pupils : Identify materials that absorb water. Design a fair test to test ability to different materials in absorbing water by deciding what to keep the same, what to change and what to measure. Pupils : Design a fair test to test the ability of different materials absorbing water Carry out the test and record the absorvations Form a conclusion based on observations Pupils Explain the uses of materials that absorb water Pupils : State that a spring will return to its original size and shape after being bent, twisted, or squeezed State that it is easier to bend, twist, stretch, and squeeze some spring Pupils : Design a fair test to find out which spring stretchs the most by deciding what to keep same, what to change and what to measure Carry out the test and record the observations Form a conclusion based on observations Explain how they arrive the conclusion Pupils : State where spring are used Explain what the spring are used for Pupils : Describe what soil is made up of State the differences between soil samples from different places Pupils : Design a fair test to compare how well water flows through sand, clay and garden soil Carry out test and record the observations From a conclusion based on the observations Explain how they arrive the conclusion

2. Spring

2.2 Understand that spring stretch differently

2.3 State the uses of springs 3.1 Explain what soil made up of 3. Soil

3.2 Explain that water flows differently in different soil

3.3 State soils that are suitable for plant growth

4.1 Explain the properties of different substances

4. Mixing substances

4.2 Understand that some substances are unsafe and should be handled with care

4.3 State that mixture of substances can be separated

Pupils : Design a fair test to compare the growth of plant in clay soil, garden soil and sandy soil Carry out test and record the observations Form a conclusion based on the observations Explain how they arrive the conclusion Pupils : State the colour, appearance, smell, and feel of given substances Describe the results of mixing substances with water Describe the result of mixing substances with vinegar State that different substances have different properties Pupils : Identify labels of unsafe substances Explain the meanings of labels State the need to look at labels or ask an adult before touching or testing any substances List unsafe substances and the harm caused by them Pupils : Plan how to separate a mixture substances Present the processes of separating the mixtures in words or diagrams Give reasons why the methods used are able to separate the mixtures Compare the methods and explain why one method is better than the others
