CHAPTER I

INTRODUCTION

1.1 Background

We need oxygen to life, oxygen is the element with atomic number 8 and represented by the symbol O. oxygen is a member of the chalcogen group on the periodic table and the highly reactive nonmetallic element that readily forms compounds with almost all other elements. We can get oxygen from plant, we can plant the plant everywhere. Planting the plant is most important to us because now many factory in the world. Plant can neutralize the pollution and change to clean oxygen that we needed. Some part of plant can we production or we make to another function some food, chemical medicine, supplement, etc. the other function of plant that check or change bad air to good air. However earth and plant is important to us because, earth and plant is something that what we need in our life. Plant must have nutrition from the soil, so the soil must the good condition, clean condition. We know that in the ground has many plastic inside. The plastic was in there because human who not care about environment that not take the rubbish in the place. This is the bad act human and can be human routine every day. So, in the soil has contain many chemical element. Soil had two kinds that are clay and humus soil. Clay is soil that has a reddish tinge as a result of the presence of iron compounds in the soil composition. This soil can form from ironrich sediments or the iron compounds may develop in the soil as it weathers. And humus soil is the ideal soil for growing cotton. It is believed that climatic condition along with the parent rock material are the important factors for the formation of black soil. Soil profiles, is a vertical slice of soil from the top layer down to the ground host rock. Causes of differences in soil surface color differences that by organic matter content. The higher of organic contain, earth tones even darker. While the bottom layer of contain generally low organic matter, soil color influenced many kinds and Fe (Ferum) compounds in the soil. In poorly drained areas, namely in areas that are always under water, all the land of gray compound contained in tha reduction of Fe (Fe2+).

1.2 The Problem Formulation

The formulation of this research are :

1. What is the element in the red soil and black soil. 2. What is the different soil of clay and humus earth for growing of bean.

1.3 The Objective

The Objective of this research are :

1. To investigate the differences of clay and humus soil for the place plant grow. 2. To investigate the element in different soil and their function.

1.4 The Signifance Of Study

The signifance of this study are :

1. For student, to know the affectivity, benefit, and element of the soil. 2. For the writer, to know and give more information about some soil element. 3. For the people, to know and can try the good way to planting a plant.

CHAPTER II LITERATURE REVIEW

2.1 Definition Of Soil Many definition of soil, there was from geologist, pure natural science experts, and from agricultural science. Definition soil by geologist is layer of earth that form by stone that had been pass so many decreasing by natural phenomena so forming a regolith. Definition of soil by pure natural science is land is defined as a solid material which is located on the surface of the earth which has and is undergoing changes that are influenced by factors. Definition of soil by agricultural experts is defined as a medium where the plants grows. Soil had two kinds are red and black soil. 2.1.1 Clay

Clay soil can be red because of the reddish tinge as a result of the presence of iron compounds in the soil composition. This soil can form from iron-rich sediments or the iron compounds may develop in the soil as it weathers. Red soils develop in a warm, teperate, wet climate under deciduous forests and have thin organic land mineral layers overlying a yellowishbrown leached layer resting on red layer made of iron oxide(ferric oxide). They are usually poor growing soils, low in nutrients and humus and difficult to cultivate. These soils are developed on old crystalline rocks under moderate to heavy rainfall conditions.

2.1.2 Humus Soil Black soils are black in colour and are also known as regur soils. Black soil is ideal for growing cotton and is also known as also black cotton soil. This type of soil is typical of the basalt region speard over and is made up of lava flows. These soils are generally poor in phosphoric contents. They develop deep cracks during hot weather, which helps in proper aeration of the soil. These soils are sticky when wet and difficult to work on unless tilled immediately after the first shower or during the per-monsoon period.

Definition of Green Bean Green beans is a type of plant cultivation and the crops is well known in the tropical

island. Plants included the tribe of legumes (Fabaceae) has many benefits in everyday life as a vegetable source of high protein food. Green beans in Indonesia ranks as the third most important legume crop, after soybean and peanuts. Green beans have a high protein and a source of important minerals, including calcium and phosphorus. While the fat percentage is unsaturated fatty acids. The content of calcium and phosphorus in green beans beneficial for strengthening bones. Green beans also contain a very low fat good for those who want to avoid high fat consumption. Low fat content in green beans. Germination is an early stage development of a plant, especially seed plants. In this stage, the embryo in the seed which was originally located in dormant condition experienced a number of physiological changes that cause it to develop into young plants. Young plants is known as the sprouts.

CHAPTER III RESEARCH METHHOD

3.1 Method of Research The method of this research is experimental research. Experimental research is a systematic and scientific approach to research in which the researcher manipulates one or more variables, and controls and measures any change in other variables.

3.2

Time and Place of The Research This research was held at dormitory in Mayor Zurbi Bustan street, lebong siarang, south

sumatra, on December 20th, 2011 until December 23th, 2011.

3.3

Data Collection Techniques

The techniques that researcher use to collect data in this study are as follows. 1. Documentation 2. Observation

3.4

Data Analysis Techniques In this research, researcher used qualitative research. Qualitative research is one of the

two major approaches to research methodology in social sciences. Qualitative research involves an in depth understanding of human behavior and the reasons that govern human behavior. A qualitative observation is an observation that uses the fives senses; sight, smelling, hearing, touch, and taste.

3.5

The Researchs Procedure The steps that used for this research is written as follow:

a. Materials

In this research we need :

1. 6 grains of green beans 2. Humus soils and Clay soils

b. Equipments

In this research we need :

1. 2 Pots

CHAPTER IV RESULT OF RESEARCH

4.1 The Development of Green Bean Accordance with the Planting Media
After researchers have a research actually green beans can grow and evolve with the black soil and red soil as a planting media. The result is as follow: Day 1 In the first day, the seeds in the humus and clay soil have no change.

Picture 1, day

Day 2 In the second day, the seeds in the humus soil have growth. The skin of green beans have been off and the seeds colour is pink. The root and stunk have grow up. While, roots of green bean in the clay soil grow up cm.

Picture 2, day 2

Day 3 In the third day, the green bean in the humus soil have grow 5 cm, the leave was start grow and the stunk longer. While, the green bean in clay soil have not change.

Picture 3, day 3

Day 4 In the fourth day, green beans in the humus soil have grow up until 7cm, the stunk have fluff, the leave have been fissure, the root longer than before. While, green bean in the clay soil have been grow up 3 cm.

Picture 4, day 4

CHAPTER V CLOSING

5.1 Conclusion From the result of research and discussion that has been done, so theres a conclusions can be drawn as follows: 1. Planting green beans with humus soil is very fast and the result is different if we planting with a red soil because the clay soil is a solid soil and the root cannot grow good. 2. The growth of green bean seeds planted by using humus soil grow well easily than in clay soil.

5.1

Suggestion

After done the experiment and analyze the result, writer suggest you some suggestion; the using of the humus soil is better for the growth of the bean.
