avid and Victoria Beckham are putting their Harlow Mill mansion up for sale, according to sources close to the celebrity couple. The 24-acre Rowneybury site, nicknamed Beckingham Palace, has reportedly been valued at close to 18 million by estate agents meaning the iconic couple could stand to bank a whopping pro it on the 2.5 million they paid for it way back in 1999. Worth an estimated 125

million as a family, the former England football captain and former Spice Girl singerturned-fashion designer have settled down in Los Angeles since moving across the pond three years ago when David Beckham joined the LA Galaxy Football Club. Theyre now said to be keen to sell the Grade II listed building along with its surrounding land in favour of setting their roots permanently in LA. The property, which used to be used as a school, has been

given a mega-money makeover by the Beckhams, whose sons Brooklyn, 11, Romeo, eight, and Cruz, ive, are also said to be happily settled in America. A gymnasium, snooker room, tennis courts and even a petting zoo are flanked by indoor and outdoor swimming pools, while the garden boasts three 10,000 gazebos, a 52ft garden pavilion with a marble floor, which houses a 4ft barbecue that cost 70,000. Im on the case for our courts

THIS week I have been putting forward my case to oppose the closure of the courts in Harlow. With a public sector debt of over 900 billion, the nation has to save money. We must live within our means, and our courts need to be better value for money. But Harlow keeps growing, so there is an increasing need for a Magistrates Court in the town. We also need to look at the total costs. There is no point closing the courts, if it then costs the police more money to travel to Chelmsford than we have saved. There would also be a much higher cost for running a larger Chelmsford Court. Not only would the work load in

Chelmsford be greater, but there would also be a higher rate of non attendance, causing police to spend less time on the streets but more time issuing warrants for non attendance. In Harlow, our courts are very busy and the loss of the Magistrates Court might pose a major problem for local police. So I am going to continue to ight for the Harlow Courts, and am hoping to put my case to the Justice Minister, Jonathan Djanogly MP,

in person next week. Also this week, Harlow Constituent Hannah Ellis is doing work experience with me in Parliament. As a follower of current affairs, Hannah wants to read philosophy, politics and economics at Oxford University and is hoping to gain as much experience as possible from her time here. Shes doing brilliantly, and came with me yesterday to a meeting with Secretary of State for Defence, Dr Liam Fox. If you need help with a local problem, or would like to follow my work in Parliament, please see www.roberthalfon.com or roberthalfon.blogspot.com or call 01279 311451.

An exhibition of local artists work also takes place. Refreshments available.
