How industrial coolers improve productivity?

Research shows that work productivity increases manifold in a comfortable working environment. Work environment should be such that productivity goes up, absenteeism comes down & staff morale increases. All this leads to improved & more output, which should eventually result in more profits. In 1968, NASA found and reported in a heat stress report CR-1205 that temperatures over 75F have a marked NEGATIVE effect on both the productivity and accuracy of work. Ideally, in an 8 hour shift, a person works with full concentration just for 5.5 to 6 hours. But, by providing the proper working environment, it can be increased to 7 to 7.5 hrs, because the duration of pauses will reduce automatically.

What is KJR Polyfilms? KJR Polyfilms is a manufacturer of plastic bags for milk packaging in Jeedimetla, Hyderabad Their factory, in Hyderabad, has two different bays: (1) 110ft L X 75ft W X 60ft H for the high bay shed. (2) 110ft L X 80ft W X 25ft H for the low bay shed.

What was the concern? Human discomfort was one of their major concerns as the packaging machine emitted high amount of heat and workers were at discomfort.

What was their requirement? KJR's requirement was to maintain positive pressure inside the premises to ensure that the packaging happened in a clean environment and outside particles/insects do not enter in.

What did Symphony do? Symphony installed 32 machines of MCHN 6800 and 8 machines of MCN both 6800 CFM capacity each. In all, 40 Symphony Industrial Air coolers were installed. Each unit has one horse power motor. Small duct is being provided to each machine to enter inside the plant and deliver fresh, filtered & cool air.

What happened next? Continuous positive pressure was maintained satisfactorily, and there was a dip of staggering 7 degrees Celsius in the inside temperature, on 23rd November, 2011 at 2:00 PM when the outside temperature was 33.
