The library will be taking book donations for the Spring Book Sale! We only want gently used books. Encyclopedias and career books will not be accepted as they do not sell, along with very old books. Any DVDs or paperbacks are encouraged to be donated. No video cassettes please. Thanks in advance for finding a great place for your treasured books. All money goes to buy new and needed books in the library. "The library board would like to thank the Friends of the Library for another fantastic fundraising event. "A Taste of Trempealeau" was a feast for the eyes, ears, and palate. The quality of the food and drink, music, and silent auction items demonstrated your deep dedication to the library and its patrons. We appreciate your strong support." During the month of March our display case will feature the artistry of Ray Mertes. Tay is a local artist who works with oil paints. His work consists of mostly wildlife and landscape paintings and prints. The case will also display his puzzles, painted birdhouses and fish taxidermy. Make sure you march in to see this wonderful display! The Library Board will meet on Monday, March 12th at 5:30pm in the community room. The Foundation Board will meet on Tuesday, March 13th at 9:30am in the community room. Story Hour remains on Wednesdays at 10am until May. The Friends of the Library will meet on Tuesday, March 20, 5:00 pm at the Library. Wrap-up of Taste of Trempealeau and other unfinished business.

A very special THANK YOU to everyone who supported A Taste of Trempealeau! All proceeds from this winter fundraiser are used to help support the library and you make it possible. Those who attended were provided with a variety of tastes by : Ecker's Apple Farm , Historic Trempealeau Hotel, Hungry Point Bar and Grill, Renaissance Bakery, Elmaro Vineyard, Sullivans Supper Club and Wine Cellar, Friends of the Library; Dan & Mary Sebranek and Tim & Elisi Smith Waller; and the 68 donors of a marvelous array of silent auction items. The next Friends of the Library meeting will be Tuesday, March 20, 5 p.m. at the Library. Great things can happen when good Friends get together!

SIZZLING SENIOR NEWS

The Spring-like weather we have been having this winter has made the winter seem shorter. It was a good time to go to exercise class and we have been getting some new members, remember you are always welcome. We received a new DVD from the Arthritis Foundation that has some good exercises on it. Simple stretch and calisthenics. We use it in rotation with the other videos and DVDs that we have. Our Snowbirds should be returning soon. They often bring new dances or exercises that we can use. We try to expand our horizons. Balance is truly a mystery. Falls can cause an astonishing amount of difficulty for older individuals. Falls can result from many causes as we age. It isnt the falling that is a problem, it is hitting the ground. It can greatly decrease your quality of life. We try to include balancing exercises along with regular aerobic exercise. We use hand weights and stretch bands as a help in achieving better balance. We are sponsored by the Village of Trempealeau. No fees, no attendance takenjust a good work out and chance to meet with friends. We meet Tuesday and Thursday mornings 9:00 am to 10:00 am at the Village Community Room.

UCare was created by the Department of Family Practice and Community Health at the University of Minnesota Medical School. UCare is an independent, nonprofit organization offering health plan coverage in Minnesota and Western Wisconsin.
