The summons was issued against police super Sarder Tamijuddin Ahmed and OC M Moshiur Rahman by a bench of justices A H M Shamsuddin Chowdhury and Sheikh Zakir Hossain on Tuesday following a writ petition filed by housewife Shila Mollick. Shila complained that she was brutally tortured by the police superintendent as she went to lodge a complaint against those who threatened to kill her husband and their family members.

It also issued an order asking the home secretary, the law secretary, the inspector general of police, the deputy inspector general (Dhaka), Madaripur SP, Madaripur deputy commissioner and the OC of Rajoir thana to explain why divisional actions would not be taken on the issue. The court also ordered the DC, the SP and the OC to ensure Shila's safety. The law secretary was asked to form an investigation committee to probe the matter. Here specially mention that Shila Mallik, a minority woman, brutally tortured by the Superintend of Police (SP), Madaripurr district on October 05, 2010 at SP office, Madaripur, while she went to meet him in order to inform him about the negligent behaviour of the officer in charge regarding to a case alleging severely beaten by some miscreant to her husband. After being kept waiting for an hour, she was taken to a solitary room for interrogation. The Police Superintendent became very angry when hearing the victims allegations and - in presence of his junior police officers - he tried to persuade the victim to withdraw her case. As she refused to do so, he dragged her by her hair and started to hit her at first with his hands and subsequently with a stick made of cane. As a result of this the woman suffered severe injuries on her left arm, neck and her back. As she feared for her life she did not dare to go the hospital in Madaripur District, instead, she went to Dhaka Medical College Hospital on the 7th of October 2010 where she was properly treated. The victim could not file any case against the powerful Superintendent.
