UKA TARSADIA UNIVERSITY EXAMINATION PASSING RULES FOR POST GRADUATE COURSES Following are extracted rules related

to passing for Post Graduate Courses: A candidate whose term is not granted for whatsoever reason shall be allowed to continue his/her further semester. However such candidate shall have to rejoin that term on regular basis before allowed to appear in semester end examination, subject to condition that term is granted. Candidates desirous of appearing at any semester examination of the Post Graduate course must forward their applications in the prescribed form to the Controller of Examinations, UTU through the Principal/Director/HUD, on or before the prescribed date. The credits of each Theory and Practical subject, and their distribution between Internal and External examinations on the basis of 30:70 ratios, shall be as per Teaching and Evaluation Scheme. A candidate shall be allowed to continue his/her further study and allowed to appear in the examination irrespective of result of the earlier semesters. The last semester result shall be withheld till the candidate clears all the heads of failure. Based on the performance in Continuous Internal Evaluation (CIE) and Semester End Examination (SEE) the grade in form of double alphabet (Letter Grade i.e AA, AB, AC, BB, BC, CC and FF) is awarded to a student in a subject. A student should secure minimum of 50% in CIE and SEE in each subject of Theory and Practical, including Project viva, if any, together. A candidate who drops (i.e. fails) in any passing heads of examination shall reappear in respective subject semester end examination. Whatsoever credit he/she has earned during re-appearance will be shown in students grade sheet. Class shall be awarded to the successful candidate at the end of last year based on CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average). A candidate shall be permitted to apply for rechecking in theory (not practical) passing heads on payment of prescribed fees in prescribed duration for university examination. A candidate shall be permitted to apply for reassessment in theory (not practical) passing heads on payment of prescribed fees in prescribed duration for last year university examination of the respective course.

GRADING SCHEME FOR POST GRADUATE COURSES The academic performance evaluation of a student shall be according to a letter grading system based on total of Continuous Internal Evaluation (CIE) and Semester End Examination (SEE). Letter grade can be decided from the Grade (G) using table 1. The letter grades AA, AB, AC, BB, BC, CC, FF indicate level of academic achievement assessed on a 10 point scale. TABLE 1

GRADE POINT(GP) =G X CV Where G=Grade obtained by student in that subject and CV=credit value of that subject. Semester Grade Point Average (SGPA) indicates the performance of a student in a given semester. SGPA is based on the total grade points earned by the student in all the subjects and the total numbers of credits assigned to the subjects in a semester. The CGPA should be expressed to an accuracy of two decimal digits. Based on CGPA, class/division shall be awarded in the last year of the course using table 2.
