INTRODUCTION

CEPT University has initiated Doctoral Programme in the areas of Design, Architecture, Planning and Technology from the academic year 2005.

CENTRE FOR CONTINUING EDUCATION

CEPT University offers short-term courses, certificate courses and diploma courses to cater the need of the profession and the society through its Centre for Professional Studies.

The following courses are offered from the academic year 2010-11 Construction Technology & Management Geomatics

-2The academic programmes of CEPT are recognized nationally & internationally for their excellence. CEPT has highly qualified faculty known for its contributions in academics and research. CEPT has exchange programmes with several institutions abroad.

CEPT Campus covering about nine acres is in vicinity of prestigious educational institutions in Arts, Science, Commerce, Pharmacy, Management and Computer Applications. Other institutions housed on the campus are Vikram Sarabhai Community Science Centre, Kanoria centre for Arts, Hutheesingh Visual Arts Centre and the Amdavadni Gufa.

Two PG Programmes of Construction Technology are offered by Faculty of Technology at CEPT University. These 24 months programmes leading to M.Tech Degree are offered in the following

specializations/disciplines: 1) Constructional & Project Management 2) Structural Design 3) Infrastructure Engineering Management

ONE YEAR PG DIPLOMA PROGRAMME

CEPT University is offering Diploma Programme in Construction Technology and Management from academic year 2005. The Programme is designed for Professionals in the construction sector who cannot afford to join2-years fulltime Programme & want to upgrade their skills. It would provide an Opportunity to Graduate and Diploma Engineers to enhance their professional skills and knowledge. This Programme covers aspects of construction technology as well as those of management. It aims to enrich the participants with better managerial skills and prepare them to take up higher responsibilities.

OBJECTIVE PROGRAMME
The objective of the one year Diploma Programme is to train & develop civil engineers working in the construction & ailed sectors to upgrade their skills in construction technology & management & help them to grow in their career.

COURSE STRCTURE & CURRICULUM

The course would be offered on a part-time basis and classes will be conducted 5 days (i.e. Monday to
Friday) in a week from August 2010. This is to provide an opportunity to employed personnel to improve their job prospects. The course comprises of two semesters having four modules split into two modules each of construction technology & construction management. Each semester will have six subjects. The duration of each semester will be 200 contacts hours (approx. 16 weeks). Visits to special sites and laboratories will be arranged. Students will be exposed to Management Soft wares.

The Topics would cover: SEMESTER-I Advanced Materials Advanced Construction Management Information Systems

-3 Tenders, Contracts and Specifications Materials Management Work and Resource Scheduling

SEMESTER-II Office Management Accounts and Finance Construction Equipments Highway Technology Quality Assurance Strategic and Marketing Management Human Resource Management Comprehensive Assignment (Jury)

EVALUATION
Participants will be evaluated for each subject through continuous evaluation system, which will have components such as class room assignments, students presentations, mid-semester examination, endsemester examination etc. At the successful completion of two semesters, participants will be awarded Diploma in Construction Technology & management. At the successful completion of two semesters, participants will be awarded Diploma.

JOB & CAREER ENHANCEMENT

After completion of this course participants will have better career enhancement opportunities. Alumni of this Programme are well placed in corporates like Reliance, Essar, JMC Projects (India) Ltd., Alpha One Corporation

ELIGIBILITY
B.E (Civil) / Mech. / Elec. / Industrial Engg. / Architects. / Comp. Science / IT with desirably experience in construction sector. Diploma in above branches with minimum 2 years of experience in construction sector.

Application forms can be obtained from 17th May, 2011 from CEPT University on payment of Rs. 100 (nonrefundable) in Cash or by Demand Draft in favour of CEPT University payable at Ahmedabad.
