Seamless and rigid metal unibody design with metal-plastic integration technology (16.2.2012):

o A unibody structure made of metal gives a handset an exclusive, high-quality feel. When it comes to signal reception, Lite-On Mobiles solution is to enable full antenna functionality by integrating a plastic part into the metal unibody. MetalPlastic integration technology enables a seamless, high-rigidity and slim metal unibody structure.

o Metal-plastic integration is a cost-saving and effective way of integrating multiple components. The technology is suitable for aluminum & GF-plastic materials, plastic IM windows and sheet windows. Metal-plastic integration with forged metal gives the product high strength and rigidity as well as design freedom for various shapes. A unibody window can be plastic or glass, depending on the design defined with the customer. o Lite-On Mobile has studied the metal unibody solution and tested various versions with different materials, designs, decoration, and antenna functionalities. The solution with a slim, seamless design is ready for mass production. o Further information :Jukka Hyvrinen, Senior Manager, Metals Innovations, email jukka. hyvarinen (at)liteonmobile.com
