ABSTRACT
A location based service (LBS) is a value added telecom service, basically an information service accessible with mobile devices through the mobile network. This service utilizes the ability to make use of the geographical position of the mobile device. LBS services include services to identify a location of a person or object such as discovering the nearest restaurant or nearest hospital etc. This service is very useful for users who are looking for specific location information. In present scenario there is lot of dependency in finding out specific information. For example if we would like to know about the hospitals in a locality we have to enquire with multiple and there is no guarantee that we will be getting the required information. The other Way of getting the information is to refer yellow pages. This is time taking and people will not have time and access to refer yellow pages. The project system provides a way of getting location information using Short Message Service (SMS) through mobile phone. The Location Based Services application facilitates mobile users in finding services available in specific location, such as discovering the nearest restaurant or nearest hospital etc.
