This feature includes the added benefit of allowing anyone needing landscaping labor assistance to communicate directly with students to arrange times and locations for assistance. In addition, prospective students can ask questions to current and former students about topics such as campus life, housing, and course offerings and availability. The club also plans to use their Facebook group to conduct public surveys and questionnaires in order to improve their activities and plant sales and better understand local market trends. Links to helpful websites are being placed on the group for quick reference. Perhaps the most valuable aspect of the group for parents of horticulture students is that they will be able to follow department activities without interrupting their childs study time or waiting for his or her phone calls, text messages, and emails. Preparations for next springs plant sale are under way, and in order to better accommodate the needs of the community, the Horticulture Club is asking for suggestions and requests. Any input from the public regarding plant types and quantities would be greatly appreciated. Seed orders are placed in December, so interested persons should visit the Facebook group and post their interests as soon as possible. The club also welcomes additional questions, comments, or suggestions on an ongoing basis and looks forward to a more active communication with the community. They would also like to remind everyone that the poinsettia sale is quickly approaching and color photos of the available varieties are being posted to the site. The group can be viewed at facebook.com/groups/ncta.hortclub. Emails can be sent to ncta.hortclub@groups.facebook.com.

The group, which is accessible to everyone with a Facebook account, allows followers to observe developments within the NCTA Horticulture Department and to ask questions of club members and advisors. Maintained by the Horticulture Club President Mark McClain, Secretary Rem Miller, and department advisors, the group is expected to be a significant long-term contributor to the organizations outreach mission and productivity. As we all look to finals, I decided to give a few tips on how to study for all of the big tests coming up. I have learned, through years of experience, that if you study just the night before, you will probably not do as well. At the least, you probably will be very tired and an hour after the test is done, you wont remember it. Now, that might be OK for a while, but once you start preparing for finals, it will be a problem. I have learned that if you start studying at least a week, preferably two weeks prior to a test, you will be less stressed, retain a lot more, and remember it for a long time after the test is done. Also, there are many ways that you can study. I like to study with friends for a while and then go back to my room and do a deep study. That is where I just look over everything over and over again. If you plan to study with a group, here are a few tips: First, make sure that the people you are with are actually going to study. It does no good if all everyone does is talk, text and goof off. Before you know it, its been three hours and you havent learned a thing. So, keep the group smaller and focused on why you are there. Next, make sure you have all of your study materials before you begin. A lot of times if you have to leave during your study session, you will get distracted. Its always good to bring something to eat and drink with you. People always get hungry when they study. Also, dont study for hours on end. If you take my advice and study two weeks prior to a test, you wont have to. If you study for hours, you will stop retaining the information and end up with a headache. Take breaks and do something else for a bit and then go back to studying. The night before the test, study a little bit more and then GO TO BED! Most students stay up way too late and then are too tired the next day to remember anything that they studied the night before. Try to get at least 7 to 8 hours of sleep the night before the test. When you get to the test, have something to drink. Before you begin, take a deep breath. The main thing

(This question was inspired by Megan Klassens article in the 4th issue of Aggie Up!) What is your opinion of the recent increase of tickets given for parking violations on campus?
Amelia De Jong, Huntley, Ill. They havent clearly marked where they want students parking. People were getting tickets for parking places that were perfectly fine last year. Lindsay Blakeman, Merna, Neb. I do think the campus is being harder on the students this year. They should at least give them a warning first, instead of a ticket on the first time. TeJay Fenster, Casper, Wyo. Its simple: buy a parking permit & use the correct parking lots! Emily Gubbels, Laurel, Neb. We pay our $20 for our parking pass. That should allow us to park anywhere on campus except for [places clearly marked for us not to park]. We are already broke college kids. Bayliegh Murphy, Hershey, Neb. If the school is going to issue tickets, it needs to have clearly marked [areas] that cars are not supposed to park there. However, if youre not sure you can park there, just dont do it.

is to remember to take your time. Its not a race to see who gets done first. If you dont know an answer, mark it and come back to it. Never second guess yourself because most of the time your first answer is right. If you try these tips, I bet youll pass your next test with flying colors.

Bailey Obermeyer, Underwood, Iowa The school needs to do a better job of clearly marking where you can and cannot park. Instead of a list of parking areas, make a Ashley Panowicz, Saint Paul, Neb. map. People are visual learners, and more people pay attention to They are a good idea because they teach students that they are not a pretty picture than a huge piece of paper full of words. Maps able to park just anywhere. On the other hand, its kind of a nuiare short and to the point, and more convenient to look at in a hursance. I honestly dont think there would be as many tickets given ry. I also believe there should have been more No Parking Signs out if there were clear signs telling students where they are able to posted. Also, a warning system should have been implemented. park. And if someone does park in the wrong spot then yes I agree they should get a ticket. Tanner Mcvay, Paxton, Neb. I gotta ticket outside Ag Hall one day for parking in the visitor Cheyenne Hurlburt, Boelus, Neb. parking spot because the handicap spot was taken when I pulled If they are going to be strict about parking violations they should up. My truck was still running and I had to run in quick. 3-4 minhave parking areas marked better. utes later when I walked out, I had a ticket. I fought it and won. Erin Cihak, Dallas, Tex. If you dont drive on campus often theres no point in wasting money on a permit, but theres only a few spots around Ag Hall for non-permit parking (visitor parking) and if you get your dog food at the Vet Tech building you dont really want to haul it down to Ag Hall. People have gotten parking tickets in visitor parking, which really doesnt make sense to me. Its a catch 22. Rem Miller, Aurora, Neb. If they would warn you first it would be so much better but they didnt and that is why people are so mad because you really dont quite know were you are suppose to be parking. Sarah Klein, Roseland, Neb. I think that the students should get a warning first! Cory Johnston, Lorton, Neb. If they are parked in the wrong spot or dont a have parking permit then they deserve a parking ticket. Allison Harm, Manley, Neb. When students come visit the college, where are they suppose to park? Everywhere on campus you park and dont have a sticker you will get a ticket and thats not right for people to get those when visiting here. Also, you might not get students to come to college if they have to keep paying tickets, and I am sure the Dean and Associate Dean are getting tried of the complaints. Katelyn Sughroue, Bartley, Neb. I think its great because it really puts the law down and makes it worthwhile to buy a parking pass. Ariel Buhrman, Saint Libory, Neb. I feel bad for the people who decided it would be a good idea not to get a parking tag and then drive their vehicle everywhere, but some of the places they got tickets arent even on the list of where they cant park at Cassie Ziemann, Lyons, Neb. I think it is rather stupid when they dont have signs saying where you can and can not park. Victoria Johnson, Palestine,Tex. I think its a bit ridiculous because there isnt really anywhere to park on campus. And its not like students are trying to violate the parking rules, they just need somewhere to park. Karla Freudenburg, Madison, Neb. I heard that some tickets are not correct in the type of vehicle and where the vehicle is parked. If someone is going to give out a ticket, it should be accurate with all the [correct] information.

Things I Think

Lake water temperatures on Nov. 6th are REALLY cold. Only an idiot leaves his toys in the lake water until Nov. 6. Yes, I just called myself an idiot. High School FFA groups should be tasered when they get off the bus. That would set expectations for the day. Cats stink. Literally. 5 teenage girls polled at my house could not tell time on a clock with hands. They did assure me they are excellent problem solvers. If you fall down in the new Vet Tech addition, you will lose some hide from that floor. Not going to class + not doing the work = a failing grade. Simple equation isnt it? I think my wiener dog is ready to try a sweater vest. Found her in a pants leg last night. Cough into your elbow... please. Getting sick at my age is painful.
