Robberies A robber is a person who steals any property and immediately before or at the time of doing so and in order to do so he uses force on any person or seeks to put any person in fear is guilty of robbery. Aggravated burglaries I when persons go into someones house and force is used to get something from the person. 1 in 10 homicides is due to a robbery. Most robberies are either planned or opportunistic. In most robberies there is no injury to the victim. A weapon is used. When asked why they use a weapon some responses were to scare the victim, protect themselves or to get away. Most planned robberies are at people who are in charge of money as their employment. The use of a gun in a robbery increases the likelihood of a successful robbery and the amount stolen but it minimises the incidence of the victim being attacked. Robbers are motivated by street culture. In that culture it is all about living the big life and self indulgent habits. Its about sensory stimulation. Hellenism. The street culture values Hellenism, lack of future orientation and denial of individual responsibility. Its also about having brand names and jewellery. These behaviours enforces the need for the individuals to rob because they have to maintain a certain image and lifestyle. Rape In rape the victim can be male or female and the offender can be male or female. Rape is forced sexual intercourse. Sexual assault involves attacks that involve unwanted sexual contact. Statutory rape is carnal knowledge of a person without force or threats of force when that person is below the age of consent. Sexual harassment is by telling someone sexual but can also involve touching. Can be commited by partners, relavtives, friends, commonly done by people in authority, bosses, doctors, care givers, religious leaders, teachers, police, military and strangers. There is a psychoanalytic theory by frend where they unresolved needs and conflicts in the offenders past. His unfulfilled needs for acceptance, affection and intimacy leads to depression then rape. Another explanation is insecurity of their masculinity. Some rapist have a lot of failure in their lives in multiple areas of their lives so they try to aggressively display their masculinity through rape. Poor social relationships and skills. Most rape serves non-sexual needs of the rapist. Most rapist have a need to control their victim. Rape may symbolize an offenders an attempt to control someone, rape also symbolises the attempt to punish someone because of their perceived mistreatment. Three types of rapes: anger rapes, power rapes, sadistic rapes

Anger rape is characterized by physical brutality, more than is necessary to overcome the victim. Sex is used to degrade and harm the victims Power- compensation for feelings of inadequacy. In both the rapist does not find the offence satisfying sexually. Sadistic rape- rarist but also more violent form. Rapist becomes aroused because of the violence. It involves torture or mutilation.
