CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
Pharmacists have an increasingly important and crucial role to play in todays healthcare sector. UCSI University helps prepare pharmacists for the pharmaceutical sector, as we believe in producing competent and compassionate professionals. There are three main career options for pharmacy students: community pharmacy, industrial pharmacy and hospital and clinical pharmacy. With increasing roles for pharmacists today, academics, research and enforcement are among some of the other career options available to pharmacists. At the community level, pharmacists are the authority on drug information responsible for ensuring medicinal safety and effectiveness, and providing health education to the general public. Pharmacists are also involved in the pharmaceutical industry in research and development projects, management, production and in quality assurance roles. As present day pharmacists, they must also be knowledgeable about the latest developments in this ever changing world of drug therapy and advanced therapeutics and be experts in herbal, traditional and other alternative medicines. UCSI Universitys Bachelor of Pharmacy (Hons.) curriculum places a major emphasis on the importance of life-long-learning for professional pharmacists to keep abreast with current medical developments, and also on the incorporation of problem-based learning to increase pharmacy students skills and confidence in their professional lives. Also focussed in the curriculum are communication skills, leadership and teamwork to ensure UCSI University produces quality pharmacy graduates.
