DEFINITION The word 'halal' ( )comes from the Arabic word which means permitted or lawful.

'Illegal' ( )means prohibited. In the context of food, halal means food that Muslims are allowed to eat according to Islamic and independent from the elements prohibited by Islamic, and instead of illegal food. For example: halal edible vegetable is kangkong, but if it is cooked with pork, then it becomes illegal. In the case of food, Muslims have been commanded by God to take away the lawful and unlawful. This was evident in the word of God:
Surah albaqarah ayat-168 Meaning: "O mankind! Eat some food that is on earth, lawful and good, and do not follow the footsteps of Satan, for it is the avowed enemy unto you. "

Halal is an Arabic word which means permissible or lawful. In the Holy Quran, God commands Muslims and all of mankind to eat of the Halal things - "O mankind! Eat of that which is lawful and wholesome, and follow not the footsteps of the devil. Lo! he is an avowed enemy of you." (2:168)

FOOD IS FORBIDDEN Basically, all foods are halal except those prohibited by the Quran and the Hadith, which are: 1. Pig Pigs (including animals of mixed breed of the pig) was banned as a whole which includes meat, fat, muscle, bone and other. It can be understood from the saying of Prophet Muhammad, which means: "Allah and His Messenger have forbidden the sale of wine, carcass, swine and idols." (Narrated by alImam al-Bukhari and Muslim) 2. Carcass Is a dead animal carcasses on their own without a human endeavor that were deliberately slaughtered according to religious requirements, or by hunting. Wild Animals, Carnivor And the fanged animals Wild animals, carnivor and fanged animals such as lions, tigers, cats, bats and so on. This is backed up on the traditions of the Prophet, which means: Rasulullah SAW telah melarang memakan setiap binatang buas yang memiliki taring dan setiap burung yang memiliki kuku yang kuat (digunakan untuk menangkap mangsa). (Hadis Riwayat Muslim daripada Ibnu Abbas r.a)

Excluded fanged animal that weak as a deer and a fanged but eat plants. 4. The Bird Has Foot For Shooting Victims Birds with claws to catch prey such as owls, eagles, etc. (see hadith above). 5. Animals Jallalah Jallalah animals which eat food that is dirty or unclean, even though the animal was originally lawful. This is because the dreaded dirt will affect the sanctity of the human spirit. From Ibn Abbas r.a. said: "The Prophet forbade drinking milk Jallalah animals." (Narrated by Imam Five Except classed as saheeh by Ibn Majah and at-Tirmidhi) 6. Animals Cross-breed (mixed) Cross between the clean animal eaten by the illegal consumption, as the Prophet's hadith that says: "We were fed horse meat by the Prophet and the Prophet forbade us to eat the flesh of asses." (AtTirmidhi narrated from Jabir) Thus the mules (a cross between a horse and a donkey) is forbidden to eat. 12. Harmful Foods Body All that harm the body, such as stone, wood, soil, glass, poisons, drugs and so on. However, there are exceptions to the ban on. This can be seen through the word of God: Surah Al-An'am - 145 Meaning: Say, "I do not find within that which was revealed to me [anything] forbidden to one who would eat it unless it be a dead animal or blood spilled out or the flesh of swine - for indeed, it is impure - or it be [that slaughtered in] disobedience, dedicated to other than Allah . But whoever is forced [by necessity], neither desiring [it] nor transgressing [its limit], then indeed, your Lord is Forgiving and Merciful."

The above verse explains that emergency conditions require that people take illegal things as long as he only ate the extent necessary and not over-much.

The act of slaughtering itself is preceded by mentioning the name of God. Invoking the name of God at the moment of slaughtering is sometimes interpreted as acknowledgment of God's right over all things, and thanking God for the sustenance He provides: it is a sign the food is taken not in sin or in gluttony, but to survive and praise Allah, as the most common blessing

is, "Bismiallah", or, "In the Name of God". Furthermore, it is an asking of permission to take the life of the animal to be slaughtered,[dubious discuss] and endows the slaughterer with a sense of gratitude for God's creation,[dubious discuss] even prior to partaking in the meat of the animal.[citation needed] Thus, the slaughter itself is preceded by the words "In the name of Allah (Bismillah)". It is not regarded appropriate to use the phrase "Bismillah al Ramn Al Ram" (In the name of God the Beneficent the Merciful) in this situation, because slaughtering is an act of subdual rather than mercy.
