PERSONAL IDENTIFICATION
My name is Nguyn Xun Lan. I live on L vn Sy Street in the third district. I was bom in this city in 1976. 1 am a second-year student of Ihe University of Economics. 1 am living with my parents. There arc four people in my family. They are my parents, my elder sister And me. 1 have studied English for five years. I study English to widen my knowledge, read English books and talk with foreigners. As for my character, 1 am Kind, pleasant and hard-working. But I am not very patient. I adso get nervous and angry easily I u/ant to become a tourist guide when 1 grow up.

2. HOUSE AND HOME My house is in the third district. It is in a quiet area not far from Le Van Sy street, it is small and made of bricks. There are 3 rooms in the house; they are the living-room, the bedroom and the kitchen. All the rooms are nice and tidy. The furniture in my house is old and not expensive. My family consists of 4 people. They arc my parents, my elder sister and me. My father IS an engineer working in a government office. My mother Is a housewife. My sister is a feacher and 1 am a university student. My family is a very happy one. We love each other very much and expect to live together under the same roof forever 3. LIFE AT HOME

school. We have lunch at noon and dinner at 7 p.m. In the evening we sit in the living-room, talking r Vaichirkg television. I usually watch TV for about an hour, and then 1 do my homework and study my lessons before going to bed. My parents and sister love me very much I feel very happy at home.

4. EDUCATION AND FUTURE CAREER

I am a second-year student of the University of Economics. At school 1 study Information science, mathematics, politics, economics and English. Hike English and dislike Science subjects. Besides studying English at school, I am attending a preparation course for the C-level certificate of English at a language centre in the evening. When 1 finish university, I will choose a career in tourism. I would like to work as a tourist guide because I like to go everyvwhere, visit beautiful places, get in touch with ail kinds of people and have opportunities to practise my English hope to become a manager of a travel agency later in my life.

5. FREE TIME AND ENTERTAINMENT

I am a university student. 1 go to school every morning from Monday to Saturday. Besides, I am attending a language school in the evening. I am very busy with my studies. I am only free on Survdays. In my free time I enjoy reading books, listening to music and watching television. At weekends I often go shopping with my mother In the city centre. Sometimes my friends and I go on a picnic in the countryside. We also go to amusement places such as the zoo. the Dm Sen Park and the Bch ng Harbaur. I enjoy the entertainments I have during my free time. They make me feel relaxed and happy.

6. TRAVEL

I am a university student. I go to school by bicycle every day. It takes me about 20 minutes to go from rrvj house to my school. Sometimes I lake a bus when my bike is out of order or when it rains. I can also use a taxi if i want to, but of course it is too expensive for me At weekends 1 usually go shopping with my friends in the downtown areas Sometimes we go on a picnic in the countryside by motorbike. Every summer vacation I go on a day excursion to Vng Tu with my classmates or take a few days' trip lo Lai with my family. I prefer to travel by car because it is iast. arid I can look at the beautiful landscape along the roadside. I wish i could travel to all beautiful places in our country some day 7. SHOPPING
At weekends i often go shopping with my friends In the downtown areas. We like to have a look at new articles and the latest fashions in shop windows, Before 1 buy anything, i always go to different shops to compare the price and quality. I usually bargain over the price too. To avoid buying a valueless thing I prefer to go shopping with an expert, who will give me good advice. When 1 buy an expensive article, I always ask the shop keeper to give me a warranty so that I can return the thing in case it turns out to be defective In my opinion, Ihe An ng Market is the best shopping centre in our city. All kinds of things arc on sale there and the prices'arc reasonable.

8. FOOD AND DRINK

I have three meals a day. In the morning I have breakfast before i go to school. For breakfast. I often have bread or sticky rice or Vietnamese noodles. My family has lunch at

noon and dinner at 7 p.m. For lunch and dinner, we usually have rice, soup, vegetables and meat or fish. I like chicken and beef-steak but i dislike sea-fish because they dont agree with me. Sometimes i go with my parents to a Chinese restaurant for dinner becausc we all like Chinese food very much. For refreshment i prefer orange juice and lemonade. To keep good health, i always eat and drink In moderation.

9. FOREIGN LANGUAGES Foreign languages arc very necessary for us. If w know several foreign languages, we can read nearly ail kinds of books and communicate with most people from other countries. Of alt foreign languages, English Is the most international. It Is spoken as first language in the United States, Britain, Australia. New Zealand, most of Canada, and in some other countries, It is also widely used in the remaining parts of the world. In our country English is the main foreign language which is taught In schools and used in business. I have studied English for five years, I study English to widen my knowledge, .and talk with foreigners. I will look for a good job in a business company when I haw graduated from university and got a C-lcvcl certificate of English. 10.WEATHER

In our daily life wg often oak other people to do something for us, Once a month 1 go to the hairdresser's to have my hair cut. Before going to a party, I often so to a beauty salon to have a shampoo and a manicure. if I want to send a letter, I will go to the post office to buy a stamp and an envelope. Sometime I come there to use the public telephone when I want to call someone. When my bicycle is out of order, I go to the bicycle repairer at the street comer to have It r e p a i r e d . 14. PLACES
I'd like to talk about our city. Ho Chi Minh City is the largest city in Vit Nam. It has a population of about 5 million. In the city centre the streets are wide and crowded with people and vehicles. There are many big stores, hotels, theatres and tall buildings. However, in the suburbs the roads are narrow and In bad condition, and the houses are small and ugly. Ho Chi Minh City has several interesting sights such as the zoo, the Ben Thnh market, the Dam Sen Park, the Thng Nht Palace, and the Vnh Nghiem

Pagoda. There have been great changes in this city during the last 10 years. Therefore, if you want to find a new address you should have a good map or ask a policeman for direction.
