It is a particularly stressful time for the students with the pressure of examinations, large amounts of readings, research papers and competition for grades. Time management is essential for leading a successful college career. This will also improve value and arm for improving the quality of life. Theoretical Framework This study is anchored on the Theory of Goal Attainment. King (1960) described an individual as person who grows and develops to attain certain life goals. The theory explains that factors which can affect the attainment of goals are rules, stress, space and time. According to him a person refers to a social being who is rational and sentient. He or she has the ability to perceive, think, feel, choose, set goals, select means to achieve goals and make decisions. Time management is one form of goal attainment. This is an aim to increase the effectiveness or efficiency or both, of personal and corporate time use. In relation to Kings (1960) theory of Goal Attainment, they have common factors which can affect the attainment of goals such as rules, stress, space and time. In order for a person to achieve a goal, time should be utilized properly in a way like using a time chart, prioritizing, being careful with over commitment, as well as writing things down.

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE Related Literature McCay (1959) developed a concept for a time-management training program, which is still being used. Critical elements are: giving insight into timeconsuming activities, changing time expenditure, and increasing workday efficiency by teaching people how to make a daily planning, how to prioritise tasks, and how to handle unexpected tasks. Many books and articles were written to convey these and similar ideas to managers, promising them a greater effectiveness while using less time. Over the years the focus of time management publications and training courses has shifted from managers as the major target group to a broad audience of working people. The term time management is actually misleading. Strictly speaking, time cannot be managed, because it is an inaccessible factor. Only the way a person deals with time can be influenced.

Related Studies In the opinion of Lemon (2007), the idea of time management is drilled into most students through their undergraduate years, but the focus on this skill seems to drop off in grad school. The irony is that most students need time management skills even more when they are looking at working on a thesis or dissertation.

According to Landers (2001) Reading through time management and productivity tips, or learning them in a seminar, it is easy to get the impression that getting more out of your schedule is a simple as going home and following some basic advice. And often, it really is. But there are some careers in situations that make it difficult to follow the traditional advice. Ironically enough, they are also the careers that require the most in terms of time management and efficiency. As for Eilam and Aharon (2003), time management can be viewed as a way of monitoring and controlling time. In this regard, it wouldbe more appropriate to speak about self-management with regard to the performance of multiple tasks within a certain time period. But in the literature, the term selfmanagement has a different meaning. It refers to monitoring and regulating oneself, but without any specific reference to techniques for monitoring time use.

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

This chapter presents the research design, setting, respondents of the study, research instruments, data gathering procedure and statistical treatment.

Research Design The study design utilized the experimental design that involves the collection of data from the population of interest. The data were elicited through researcher-made questionnaire. The data were treated statistically before they were analyzed and interpreted. This design was selected for if allows flexibility in investigating and describing the relationship among phenomena at a fixed point in time.

Research Setting This study was conducted Misamis University in Ozamis City. It is a privately owned, non-sectarian, non-profit educational institution with a progressive and dynamic educational program. With its present location, Misamis University has become an urban and modern university sharing in the development growth and success in the region and continues to strengthen its reputation as a provider of an exceptional education.

Research Respondents The respondents of the study were selected 30 level III nursing students. A purposive sampling was used in selecting the possible respondents. In purposive sampling, the respondents are handpicked to be included in the sampling frame based on certain qualities for the purpose of the study. In this particular study, the respondents should be a 3rd year nursing student.

Research Instruments To gather the necessary data and information, a researcher made questionnaire was used which contained two parts. Part 1 looked into the respondents profile as to their age, educational attainment, family monthly income, and ethnicity. Part 2 identified the respondents level of time management. The continuum below was used in interpreting for the data gathered: Teenagers Level of Time Management
Continuum 4.50-5.00 3.50-4.40 2.50-3.40 1.50-2.49 1.00-1.49 Responses Always (A) Most of the time (MT) Sometimes (SS) Seldom (SD) Never (N) Interpretation Excellent Very Good Good Fair Poor (E) (VG) (G) (F) (P)

Validation of Instrument The researcher first gathered possible items that were included in the questionnaire. The first draft of the questionnaire was shown to her adviser for corrections and suggestions. The researcher made questionnaire was tried out to ten students who were not selected as respondents of the study before these questionnaires were distributed to the target respondents. Items which seemed vague and ambiguous to the said respondents were improved and modified. The aim of this was to ascertain the validity of the data-gathering tool. The reproduction of the final draft of the questionnaire was made after it was presented to the adviser for her corrections and suggestions. The proposed study was then presented to the thesis panel members. The corrections and suggestions of the adviser and the panel members were incorporated in the questionnaire.

Data Gathering Procedure Before the actual distribution of the research instrument, the researcher secured permission from the Dean of the College of Nursing that she will be allowed to conduct her study. The researcher approached the different Deans of the identified schools to allow the researcher to distribute her questionnaire within their school using the students as the respondents. Upon the approval of the letter request, the researcher then administered the questionnaires to the respondents. The respondents were given time to

answer the questionnaire and on an agreed schedule the researcher retrieved the questionnaire. When the questionnaires were collected the data were tallied and presented to the statistician for statistical treatment. Then the researcher made the analysis and interpretation of data.

Statistical Techniques To derive a comprehensive, valid and reliable result, the following statistical methods and techniques were utilized: Frequency and Percentage. Frequency was used to determine the distribution of the responses in each category, while percentage was employed to determine the position of the respondents responses out of the total number of responses utilized in the study. Average Weighted Value. This tool was used to describe the respondents work-related stress, coping mechanism and health status. The Chi-Square. This technique was used to determine the significant relationship difference and relationship between independent and dependent variables.
