Chapter 4: Methodology

A. Overview and Research Method

This research was conducted in order to determine the percentage of NDMU first year students whove rebelled against authority. These studies also let us know the reasons behind their rebellion and their ways on how to overcome it. The researchers gathered data first from the internet, e-book and books. They got helpful articles that can support their research. After which, they conducted a survey that can help too in answering their problem statements and also as a support on their research. They also conducted an interview from the experts, like Mrs. Octaviano a Psychology teacher at NDMU, to solicit their own opinion and point of view in such situation like teenage rebellion that may be able to help and support in the research. B. Respondents The respondents of the study consisted of NDMU first year students. In order to come up with the result, a total of 100 respondents were participated in this research. C. Sample size and Sampling technique Simple random sampling was done for the sample distribution. This sampling method is conducted where each member of a population has an equal opportunity to become a part of the sample. As all members of the population have an equal chance of becoming a research participant, this is said to be the most efficient sampling procedure. The process was repeated until the sample size was reached.

C. Instruments and its validation This study used two sets of instruments which formulated by the researchers. The first set was the questionnaires and the second set was the interview with the experts collecting their own opinions and reactions in this study. After we finished the questionnaires distribution and collecting it, we present it to the expert to get some of opinions. The questionnaires were divided into two main parts: a profile and the sets of questions prepared by the researchers. The profile contains the name, gender and the course and year. The questions prepared by the researchers were not standardized. It contains the causes and effects of teenage rebellion in their living. In this survey questionnaires type, there are choices provided after the question or statement. If ever, their answers were not in the choices they may specify it under the space provided after the question or statement. The researchers also input a scale to know the intensity of their rebellion and the intensity of its effect on their social interaction with others. In the end of the survey sample, the researchers also integrated an open-ended question where in they may answer it further in their own way of understanding. .interview D. Research Procedures i. ii. Chapter V: Summary, Conclusion and Recommendation A. Summary According to Dr. Scott J. Larson, the words teenager and rebellion often seem synonymous. A quote that depicts this age group is: "Our youth now love luxury, they have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for elders, and love to chatter in place of exercise. Children are now tyrants, not the servants of their households. They no longer rise when elders enter the room. They contradict their parents, chatter before company, gobble up their food and tyrannize their teachers. The researcher conducted this research, the teenage rebellion, in order to know the percentage of the NDMU first year students who rebelled against authority. This research also conducted to know the reasons why students rebelled and the ways on how they overcome it. In order to answer the problem statements, the researchers distributed a questionnaire as a survey and conducted an interview with the experts. After which, the researchers gathered there collected data to evaluate and apply it on the study.
