Service User, Carer and Stakeholder Involvement

The Trust believes it can only achieve its corporate vision of becoming the countrys leading mental health and specialist learning disability provider by serving the needs of and learning from the experience of its customers and stakeholder groups, each of which has a unique expertise. (HPFT Involvement Strategy 2009 2012)
Over the past 12 months the Service User Council and the Carer Council have both provided robust feedback on the implementation of initiatives within the Leading by Design framework. The Single Point of Access project, and the replacement of current daycare arrangements, have been of particular concern to the two Councils. The other networks for groups of service users and carers have also continued to provide invaluable comments and contributions. In particular:

The Service User Council and the Carer Council have continued to contribute enthusiastically to the work of the Trust. A user-led audit of The use of the recovery model and principles within crisis teams has now been successfully concluded. The Carer Council chose ???? ????? ????? as a suitable topic for a carer-led audit.

Accessible workshops were held to enable clients with learning disabilities to .. . . Members of both Councils, and other service users, have been offered the opportunity to take a much greater role in staff recruitment and induction. Work on Peer Listening and Peer Support havs continued to provide significant opportunities for former service users and carers to work with current service users.

Plans for involvement work in 2012 13 include:

Continuing with the development of councils and networks Increasing diversity in involvement opportunities, to ensure that as many people as

possible can access these (for example, more local/virtual work with older people and their carers, and website development for children and younger people)

Development of focus groups to provide in depth feedback and information for service

development under Leading by Design An ongoing recruitment drive to increase the number of people joining in with involvement work and volunteering with the Trust More development of new roles for Trust members to offer more active involvement opportunities Further expansion of our matrix of work with third sector partners.
