SIZZLING SENIOR NEWS

People have asked, When did the Golden Youth Exercise Group start? It seems no on remembers (but we are senior citizens, you know.) We know Sylvia Severson started the group in the early 1990s. In 1996 Sylvia carried the torch for the Atlanta Olympic Games at La Crosse. We all attended and cheered her on. Our next leader was Helen Enters and she did a great job. She not only choreographed the dances and she also made CDs of the music we use today. She was always there for us until she died of a heart attack. She is sadly missed. Margaret Wood took over after a brief time of searching for a new leader. We have talked about a scrap book to record the history of the group. Joanne Hayter gave us some pictures of the early days. If you know of anyone that has pictures or articles of the group we would like to include them. Please call Margaret Wood at 534-6386. Our Snowbirds are slowly returning. It is good to see them. We look forward to a good group for the Spring-Summer-Fall months. Our group is open to anyone that would like to exercise and do a little line dancing. We use stretch bands on Thursdays and hand weights on Tuesdays when we meet from 910 am in the Community Center. No dues or attendance is taken. Just an hour to meet with friends and strengthen our bodies. Hope to see you soon!!
