SPEECH & DRAMA (TRAINERS BRIEFING)

1. Print copy of schools specifications/ meeting minutes & PROC 150 for Trainers to go through. 2. Print PROC 117 & go through with trainers & pass them a copy each. Ask trainers to fill it up with the Prop numbers shown on pictures at our website for the items they need. 3. Trainers are to guide/coach students to show plenty of hand/body/leg movements to describe/express words of the song/poem/character/emotions. 4. Trainers are to guide/coach students how to raise & make pitch of voice- high/low pitch voice; voice modulation (Voice going up & down to show expressive speaking rather than just flat voice/tone). 5. Trainers are to guide/coach students how to show different kind of feelings (Facial Expression/Voice/Tone/Body language)- Facial Expression handout given 6. Trainers are to guide/coach students how to show different Animal sound & movements. 7. Trainers are to guide/coach students how to show different characters. (Bad man, Angry man, Baby, Happy mother, Police man, soldier) 8. Expression ability will be observed by teachers in class or during performance & they expect to see some/many of the above skills the trainers are able to teach the students.

Guideline for lesson Plan: 9. 1st Lesson Get to know the students, do some ice breaker games. -Explain story/poem/song. - Ask students to repeat without any expression but speak clearly & pronounce correctly. understand whole story/poem games. -Make a list of different facial & tones expressions. End the lesson by playing a game during every session. (eg: Jump, clap & show a Happy face.....Jump,clap & show a Sad Face...)

2nd Lesson- Recite whole story/poem/song. - Repeat lesson 1 again. - Introduce simple voice variation/ facial expressions. -Make a list of different facial & tones expressions. End the lesson by playing a game during every session. (eg: Jump, clap & show a Happy face.....Jump,clap & show a Sad Face...) 3rd Lesson- Recite whole story/poem/song. -For songs: (eg) 27 students split into 3 groups, each group sing 1 line, then chorus all will sing together. -For poem: 27 students split into 3 groups, each group recite 1 line, then all read poem together towards the end. -For drama: 27 students split into 3 groups- 1 group do main cast, 2nd group do background movements, etc. 4th Lesson- Recite whole story/poem/song. -Act with correct tone & expression. 5th Lesson- Stage rehearsal (students will learn how to enter & exit stage & mark their positions). -1 hour given to practice on stage, each class to take only 20mins to practice. (Facilitator to come in to help trainers to coordinate kids on stage) 6th Lesson- Full dress stage rehearsal -Trainers & facilitators (if provided) must put simple face-paint on all students for the final actual concert & remove the paint after the concert. 10. Trainers to bring their own camera & take 4-5 photographs every session. 11. June will be present during the Dress Rehearsal & Final concert to observe/ assess the trainers training of the students & performance of the students.
