Commonwealth assistance
$
This section applies only to government funded students or domestic full-fee students seeking Commonwealth assistance. If this does not apply to you or you are an international student, please go to page 9.
If you are not enrolling in a higher education Commonwealth supported place (CSP), you will not see this screen and do not need to complete this section. Please go to eCAF (Request for FEE-HELP and VET FEE-HELP assistance) to complete your enrolment. If you hold a CSP, you will be required to complete an eCAF (electronic Commonwealth Assistance Form). This form is a legal document and it requires you to declare that you are aware of your obligations as a CSP student. It also allows eligible students to indicate your preferred payment option for your student contribution, for example, full up-front payment or HECS-HELP loan for all or part of your student contribution. You must read the Information for Commonwealth supported students booklet before submitting the form. You can access this booklet by clicking on the link at the top of the page. Once you have read the booklet complete the pink form and click Submit.
Note: If you do not want FEE-HELP assistance, proceed with your enrolment as detailed on page 9. If you hold a local full-fee place and meet the eligibility criteria, you may choose to apply for Commonwealth assistance through a FEE-HELP (higher education full-fee students) or a VET FEE-HELP (TAFE students in Skills Deepening programs) loan for all or part of your tuition fees.
If you meet the eligibility criteria and would like to apply for FEE-HELP or VET FEE-HELP assistance, you will be required to complete an eCAF (electronic Request for FEE-HELP or VET FEE-HELP Assistance form). There are two ways to access the eCAF when enrolling. You can click on eCAF at the left of the screen under the heading Government Requirements, or you can follow the flags from the enrolment screen.
This form is a legal document that requires you to declare that you are aware of your legal obligation to the Commonwealth in relation to the repayment of your FEE-HELP debt. Before filling out the form it is important that you have read the Information booklet about your particular Commonwealth assistance. This is available from a link at the top of the page. A pop up box will appear with a PDF of the booklet that you can print.
When you have answered all questions applicable to you, click Submit. If you have submitted the form successfully you will be taken to this page. When you have completed the eCAF you can continue with your enrolment as detailed on page 9. You will be notified by email to your RMIT student email account if your application is successful. Your approval letter will appear here for you to print.
