Position Announcement
The United States Peace Corps program in Macedonia seeks qualified and motivated candidates for a position of a Programming and Training Assistant Peace Corps is an American organization that places volunteers in communities throughout Macedonia, working in two primary program areas: primary and secondary education and community development. The Programming and Training Assistant assists staff in reviewing, preparing and maintaining documentation of programs, volunteer placements, cooperation with Macedonian collaborators, and a broad range of administrative support and clerical duties related to all activities of the Programming and Training Unit. S/he shall provide support to volunteers and assist them in their contributions and social/cultural adaptation by identifying useful resources, networks, materials and opportunities for community involvement and further training. The Programming and Training Assistant assists with the organization of presentations at, and preparation of materials for various workshops and training programs. The Programming and Training Assistant also manages the Small Projects Assistance Program providing small grants to Peace Corps Volunteers to support their local communities. The position is expected to commence on or about May 7, 2012.

QUALIFICATIONS: Education: University Degree in a related field or equivalent combination of training and working experience. Professional Work Experience: Minimum 2-year experience working in a similar area. Candidates with experience in international donor program support, administrative and clerical duties, project design and management, facilitation of training/presentations, and/or cross-cultural exchange programs are strongly urged to apply. Language: Fluent Macedonian and English is required (both written and oral), Albanian a plus. Mandatory Qualifications (Knowledge and Skills):

Experience in office management, file maintenance, databases, and professional correspondence Practical experience in logistics management, implementation, and/or evaluation of training events or workshops/seminars. Demonstrated abilities to maintain professional networks of contacts with organizations and/or government officials through personal contact and correspondence. Demonstrated abilities in project design and management and proven experience managing grant programs. High quality written composition, translation skills, and administrative support and clerical experience. Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational/time management skills. Demonstrated willingness and effectiveness working cooperatively in teams. A working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and database software.

Desired Qualifications

A working knowledge of the Macedonian educational system, local government structures, and/or networks of NGOs working in Macedonia. Practical experience in teaching or training adults/facilitating workshops. Volunteer experience. Practical experience in developing budgets and tracking expenditures. Experience working in a cross-cultural setting as a part of an intercultural team. Experience living, studying or working abroad.
