Region X of the Philippines, Northern Mindanao (Filipino: Hilagang Mindanao) is composed of five provinces and two cities classified

as highlyurbanized, all occupying the north-central part of Mindanao island, and the island-province of Camiguin. The regional center is Cagayan de Oro City, where the national government's regional offices and other big establishments are located. Lanao del Norte was transferred to Northern Mindanao from Region XII (then called Central Mindanao) by virtue of Executive Order No. 36. Cultural groups Majority of the region's inhabitants are migrants from Cebu and Bohol. There are also inhabitants of Waray, Tagalog and Maranao descent. Climate Rainfall in Northern Mindanao is evenly distributed throughout the year. Its abundant vegetation, natural springs and high elevation contribute to the region's cool, mild and invigorating climate. Land use Northern Mindanao has a total land area of 14,032.93 km of which 6,571 km is alienable and disposable lands, and the remaining 7,461.99 km. Natural resources More than 60% of Northern Mindanao's total land area are classified as forest land. Its seas abound with fish and other marine products. Economy The economy of Northern Mindanao is the largest regional economy in the island of Mindanao.[1] The economy in Northern Mindanao is mainly agricultural. But there is also a booming growth of industries particularly in Cagayan de Oro City and in Iligan City. The famous Del Monte Philippines located in the Province of Bukidnon and its processing plant is located in Cagayan de Oro City, which shipped to the entire Philippines and Asia-Pacific region. The Agus-IV to VII Hydroelectric Plants in Iligan City and Baloi, Lanao del Norte supplies most of its electrical power in Mindanao.

Tourists Spots Tinago Falls One of the tourist destination in Lanao is the Tinago Falls, which is accessible through a 300-step staircase that is located in the upper part of Barangay Buru-un. The waterfalls feature a curtain-like cascade which falls into a basin-like pool of icy-cold water. Tinago Falls (elevation- 420 feet), like what it names say (Tinago is hidden in local dialect), is literally hidden in a deep ravine about 13.8 kilometers away from Iligan City proper. Access is through the Iligan Tinago Mountain Resort which is managed by the City Tourism Office, and comes with a minimal entrance fee. Mt. Kitanglad Bukidnon A dormant or inactive volcano located in Kitanglad Mountain Range in Bukidnon province on Mindanao Island. Kitanglad is derived from the word tanglad or lemon grass, and kita from the word tagalog means visible. This Mt. Kitanglad has been acknowledged by the ASEAN Heritage Park in year 2009.

Sunken Cemetery One of the tourist attraction in Camiguin is the Sunken Cemetery which is submerged by a volcanic eruption in 1871, marked with a huge cross. All these plus its mystical charm and idyllic island lifestyle make Camiguin a great Philippine destination.

Pipe Organ from Germany A tourist attraction right at the heart of Ozamiz is the pipe organ found in the choir loft of the Immaculate Conception Cathedral. It is the only existing pipe organ in Mindanao and one among the few throughout the country.

Monigue Cave The cave has a small opening that seems too narrow to be passable, it has a six (6) inches airspace between ceiling and water. The cave contains a beautiful sparkling formations which is called the CALCIUM CARBONATE (CaCO3) or CALCITES. These stalactites and stalagmites, white and brown, are sign of oxidized materials that take 50-60 years to form an inch. the cave is definitely spellbinding, There were formations of flowstone, gurpool-resembling, rice terraces, transparent crystals and pictureque speleothems, such as cathedral drapes and icons. Everything was simply beautiful and awesome.
