Big Peace ^ | 8/26/11 | Niccolo Machiavelli Mexican commandos have discreetly traveled to the United States, assembled at designated areas and dispatched helicopter missions back across the border aimed at suspected drug traffickers, reports the New York Times. This is all part of what the Obama Administration is calling boomerang operations which are designed to get at Mexican drug traffickers through the back door. The cartels dont expect Mexican police coming from the U.S., one senior military official told the Times. Clearly things are not going well in Mexico.

China Wants To Construct A 50 Square Mile Self-Sustaining City South Of Boise, Idaho
THE AMERICAN DREAM ^ | June 08, 2011 | swampsniper Thanks to the trillions of dollars that the Chinese have made flooding our shores with cheap products, China is now in a position of tremendous economic power. So what is China going to do with all of that money? http://frontpagemag.com/2011/03/28/libya-and-the-soros-doctrine/ United Nations Security Council Resolution 1973, which authorizes a no-fly zone over Libya and the protection of civilians by all means necessary, is the culmination of a decade-long effort to radically strengthen the ability of the UN to intervene in sovereign nations through the Responsibility to Protect (R2P) doctrine. Behind the initiative are, unsurprisingly, some of the usual suspects: National Security Council adviser Samantha Power and her patron George Soros. Their call to prevent human rights abuses through military intervention masks an agenda to alter drastically the concept of state sovereignty and to allow the United Nations to essentially co-opt the US military. A 2008 backgrounder produced by The Heritage Foundation on the Responsibility to Protect articulates one of the most dangerous aspects of the doctrine: R2P would effectively cede U.S. national sovereignty and decision-making power over key components of national security and foreign policy and subject them to the whims of the international community. What we are seeing unfold in Libya today may very well be a test case for this doctrine: the United Nations has borrowed the US military to enforce its idea of Gaddafis responsibilities. And one question of grave concern is: Might the UN also borrow the U.S. and other Western militaries in future to impose its will on member states it feels are not living up to the UNs nebulous idea of state responsibilities? Before we examine the ingredients of this potentially catastrophic scenario, a bit of historical background is necessary. The Responsibility to Protect doctrine, which is deliberately nebulous and ill-defined, is not new. In fact, Hitlers intervention in the Sudetenland was justified by humanitarian reasons. Hitlers propaganda machine created mass hysteria in Germany by falsely accusing Czechoslovakia of carrying out atrocities against ethnic Germans. Hitler negotiated with Neville Chamberlain on the basis that he was only going to intervene to save lives. Chamberlain may not have bought Hitlers lies, but Munich occurred nonetheless. The doctrine was applied sporadically for the next 50 years because military intervention of any kind during the Cold War risked nuclear confrontation. Although the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan was justified by Moscow as a humanitarian endeavor, there were few other cases.
Once the Soviet Union disappeared, a host of situations occurred in the 1990s that drove debate in the United Nations toward accepting the use of humanitarian intervention to stop governments from killing their own people. The ad hoc nature of these interventions gave an opening to individuals who wished to codify UN intervention into international law. Most of these same people also recognized humanitarian intervention as a means of vastly strengthening the UN, while weakening the sovereignty of nations. The history of Responsibility to Protect bears this out. The International Commission on Intervention and State Sovereignty (ICISS) was formed out of the UN Millennium Summit in September 2000 with a mandate to promote a comprehensive debate on the relationship between intervention and sovereignty, with a view to fostering global political consensus on how to move from polemics towards action within the international system. The ICISS issued a report in December of 2001 titled The Responsibility to Protect that encapsulated the Commissioners views on intervention and state sovereignty and their recommendations for practical action. The document was sent to the UN for debate and approval. At the UN, a firestorm broke out over the R2P concept (now the official name of humanitarian intervention), largely divided between the industrialized West and the impoverished South. The former colonies only saw a legal way for Western powers to invade them, while the West including the United States viewed R2P as a potent weapon to prevent another Rwanda. The ICISS was chaired by Gareth Evans, former foreign minister for Australia, whose thoughts about the report and sovereignty in particular bear looking at in detail. Mr. Evans sought to turn the debate on sovereignty on its head by characteriz[ing] it not as an argument about the right of states to anything, but rather about their responsibility one to protect people at grave risk. That responsibility is to be defined by the United Nations. Mr. Evans envisions a world where sovereign nations are hardly sovereign as we understand the term. Indeed, Evans is seeking nothing less than a brand new definition of sovereignty what he calls a new way of talking about sovereignty itself. The starting point, he says, is that sovereignty should now be seen not as control, as in the centuries-old Westphalian tradition, but, again, as responsibility. No rights. No control. At least Mr. Evans is willing to let nations keep their borders for now although that may also be under threat from R2P. One can imagine the United Nations taking the US to task for trying to keep millions of illegals from crossing our border: We have no right to keep hungry, desperate people from seeking a better life. Might our border policies also violate the R2P doctrine? Indeed, such an argument is already being made. In 2004, the Secretary General Kofi Annan set up a blue ribbon committee to examine the ICISS findings and issue a report to the United Nations. The Panel on Threats, Challenges,
and Change swallowed the new definition of sovereignty while recommending R2P be adopted as a matter of policy and law. Their report, A More Secure World: Our Shared Responsibility, recommended that it be the responsibility of every State when it comes to people suffering from avoidable catastrophe, mass murder and rape, ethnic cleansing by forcible expulsion and terror, and deliberate starvation and exposure to disease. In other words, responsibility has morphed from the 1990s conceptwhich entailed that it is up to the world community or voluntary coalitions to intervene where necessary to protect innocentsto a set of rules that sovereign nations themselves must satisfy the United Nations or the hammer will fall. In direct violation of its own charter, the UN has set itself up as the arbiter of where sovereignty begins and ends, tossing aside Article 51s inherent right to self-defense clause. The Office of the Special Adviser for the Prevention of Genocide at the UN makes this clear. The individual states idea of sovereignty takes a back seat to the UNs judgment: Sovereignty no longer exclusively protects States from foreign interference; it is a charge of responsibility where States are accountable for the welfare of their people. Might R2P also be invoked by Israels enemies to target the Jewish State in its war of national survival against the Palestinians? This has already become a reality. Michael Rubin, writing at Commentary Contentions, reports that the Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Blent Arn said last week, We wish that the United Nations had made such resolutions and countries had taken action in the face of incidents in Gaza, Palestine and the other regions. Does this explain the surprising decision of the Arab League to allow for R2P to be invoked for Libyan intervention? Recall that the Arab League, the African Union, and numerous other regional developing world organizations originally opposed the concept of R2P. Could the prospect of a UN intervention in Gaza have encouraged the Arab League to back the Libyan adventure? Even if it didnt, you can rest assured that the next time Israel feels compelled to defend itself by going into Gaza and taking out terrorists who are attacking it, the League will be crying out for an international response to the atrocities. It will contend that Israel is not living up to its responsibilities to protect Palestinians. Such an argument will convince many especially those who are predisposed to hate Israel in the first place. The US will then be in the unenviable position of being forced to veto such action in the Security Council, opening itself up to charges of hypocrisy. Would we veto such a resolution? With NSC adviser Samantha Powers influence on Obama, it is highly questionable. Power is an avid R2P advocate; her 2002 book on the issue, A Problem from Hell, so affected Obama that he invited Power to join his Senate staff as a foreign policy fellow. She also briefly served on his campaign foreign-policy brain trust.
Power is also credited with influencing the president to adopt R2P as part of his foreign policy. But it is her views on Israel that should concern us most of all. She has a long record of antipathy toward the Jewish State. In a widely scrutinized interview with UC Berkeleys Institute of International Studies, Power said that a mammoth protection force through an external intervention were required to impose a settlement between Israelis and the Palestinians. Her rather rambling and convoluted statement on the conflict clearly accused Israel of human rights violations, which warranted (R2P) intervention in the same way that the Rwandan genocide did. Such an action might mean alienating a domestic constituency of tremendous political and financial import and would involve sacrificing billions the U.S. spends servicing the Israeli military to invest in a Palestinian state. Clearly, Power is someone who would readily impose a R2P solution on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. But with her anti-Israeli disposition so apparent, one shudders to think what this would actually look like. Other advocates of the R2P doctrine include numerous Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), which promote it for ideological reasons and also because of UN grants and funding. The International Coalition for the Responsibility to Protect brings together many of these NGOs under one umbrella, where they can be more effective in both lobbying the UN and shaking the international money tree. The list of members is a Whos Who of internationalists, one worlders, and leftist Utopians, including Oxfam, Citizens for Global Solutions, the International Crisis Group, the World Federalist Movement, Human Rights Watch, and The Stanley Foundation. What all those groups have in common is a desire to destroy or vastly curtail the sovereignty of nations. And rising above all of them as chief financier and inspiration are George Soros and his Open Society Institute. There is little doubt that Soros recognized early the kind of power that a vast, worldwide movement could exert and bring him closer to his dream of radically changing the scope of national sovereignty, thus allowing for a new economic and financial system to take hold. He calls himself a stateless statesman, which is a good description of how he wants the rest of us to live. In addition to being the primary funder of The Global Center for the Responsibility to Protect, the Open Society Institute also heavily supports other NGOs that belong to the R2P coalition, including the International Crisis Group (ICG)and Human Rights Watch. You dont have to connect too many dots to discover Soros influence on the Obama administration. Samantha Power served on the executive committee of the ICG along with Soros until she left for the UN in 2009. And several members of the Obama foreign policy team were employed by the Center for American Progress another Soros funded think tank. The future of R2P is now. The situation in the small African country of Cte dIvoire is spiraling out of control and headed for civil war with the potential for atrocities and mass civilian casualties. Several nations, including the African Union and NGOs involved in the
R2P movement, are already calling for military intervention, while the UN has expressed its alarm at the deteriorating situation. Meanwhile, Bashar Assad is killing demonstrators in the streets of Syria, and the world does nothing. Clearly, R2P needs a little fine tuning. The ICISS and UN panel on R2P both advanced the notion of thresholds that would have to be crossed before action was contemplated, but the UN has yet to adopt any hard and fast rules about intervention. Until they do, the Security Council will be fumbling in the dark, confused and hesitant to proceed. But the real danger will come if they ever do get their act together and begin to intervene in the worlds trouble spots in earnest. Given R2Ps broad mandate, which includes starvation and disease as responsibilities of member states, the list of countries that would be ripe for intervention is growing considerably. For the proponents of R2P, this is not accidental. Rick Moran is blog editor of The American Thinker, and Chicago editor of PJ Media. His personal blog is Right Wing Nuthouse. Did Soros and Facebook start this overthrow of countries? Internet locked up here http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2668262/posts Interesting from Key Wikilink (it was this wikilink that locked it up) ----Egypt, Soros Many are asking who started the riots in Egypt around Jan. 25, 2011, including Walid Phares on Fox News. Phares stated that he believed it was bloggers on Facebook who began the riots. In April of 2010, a weekly magazine aiming to link Arab bloggers with politicians, the elderly and the elite was launched in Egypt. The weekly Wasla or The Link is being heralded as a first for the Arab world, with plans for articles by bloggers as a way of giving them a wider readership. Wasla is published by the Arabic Network for Human Rights Information and is financially supported by the Open Society Institute created by none other than George Soros. In the 1st edition of Wasla, the cover featured Mohamed ElBaradei. ElBaradei is Wasla's chosen candidate and he is also supported by the Muslim Brotherhood and Iran. George Soros and ElBaradei both sit on the Board of Trustees for the International Crisis Group.
From below Samantha Power is the National Security Council special adviser to President Obama on human rights. She is married to Cass Sunstein, President Obamas Regulatory Czar. Gareth Evans, an activist, once served as Australias foreign minister as co-chair of the International Commission on Intervention and State Sovereignty, which coined the term responsibility to protect. Samantha Power and Gareth Evans have been joint keynote speakers promoting Responsibility to Protect. It is Samantha Power that urged President Obama to bomb Libya. George Soros is a major backer of the Global Centre for the Responsibility to Respect and Soros sits on multiple boards with Gareth Evans, the Clinton Global Initiative is one. The Responsibility to Protect doctrine has been described by its founders and proponents, including Soros, as promoting global governance while allowing the international community to penetrate a nation states borders under certain conditions. The ICC, International Criminal Court, is backed by the U.N. Their intention is to go after crimes to humanity. Other government sponsors include Australia, Belgium, Canada, the Netherlands, Norway, Rwanda and the U.K. http://www.discoverthenetworks.org/individualProfile.asp?indid=2379 In March 2011, Power was instrumental in persuading Obama to authorize military intervention in Libya, to prevent President Moammar Qaddafi's forces from killing the rebels who were rising up against his regime at that time. Power's counsel in this matter was consistent with her longstanding advocacy of the doctrine known as the "Responsibility to Protect," which promotes global governance while encouraging the international community to overrun a nation's sovereignty with the use of military force in order to thwart genocide, war crimes, crimes against humanity, or ethnic cleansing. The Global Centre for the Responsibility to Protect, which is the world's leading advocate of this doctrine, is funded by George Soros's Open Society Institute. So, putting this all together, we have three people we know are close to President Obama, Cass Sunstein, Samantha Power, and George Soros. Power and Soros decided that Kadafi was a threat to Libyans. President Obama confers with them and the United Nations, but not Congress. President Obama puts America under the wing of a global governance and puts us in another war.

WARS AND RUMORS OF WARS
By Aaron Klein
2011 WorldNetDaily
Philanthropist billionaire George Soros is a primary funder and key proponent of the global organization that promotes the military doctrine used by the Obama administration to justify the recent airstrikes targeting the regime of Moammar Gadhafi in Libya. The activist who founded and coined the name of the doctrine, "Responsibility to Protect," sits on several key organizations alongside Soros. Also, the Soros-funded global group that promotes Responsibility to Protect is closely tied to Samantha Power, the National Security Council special adviser to Obama on human rights. Power has been a champion of the doctrine and is, herself, deeply tied to the doctrine's founder. According to reports, Power, who is married to Obama regulatory czar Cass Sunstein, was instrumental in convincing Obama to act against Libya. The Responsibility to Protect doctrine has been described by its founders and proponents, including Soros, as promoting global governance while allowing the international community to penetrate a nation state's borders under certain conditions
Libya regarded as test of global doctrine The joint U.S. and international air strikes targeting Libya are widely regarded as a test of Responsibility to Protect which is a set of principles, now backed by the United Nations, based on the idea that sovereignty is not a privilege, but a responsibility. According to the principle, any state's sovereignty can be overrun, including with the use of military force, if the international community decides it must act to halt what it determines to be genocide, war crimes, crimes against humanity or ethnic cleansing. The term "war crimes" has at times been indiscriminately used by various U.N.-backed international bodies, including the International Criminal Court, or ICC, which applied it to Israeli anti-terror operations in the Gaza Strip. There has been fear the ICC could be used to prosecute U.S. troops. An organization calling itself the Global Centre for the Responsibility to Protect is the world's leading champion of the doctrine. Activist Gareth Evans, who sits on the global group's advisory board, is widely regarded as the founder of the Responsibility to Protect principle. Soros' Open Society Institute is one of only three nongovernmental funders of the Global Centre for the Responsibility to Protect. Government sponsors include Australia, Belgium, Canada, the Netherlands, Norway, Rwanda and the U.K. Board members of the group include former U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan, former Ireland President Mary Robinson and South African activist Desmond Tutu. Robinson and Tutu have recently made solidarity visits to the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip as members of a group called The Elders, which includes former President Jimmy Carter. Annan once famously stated, "State sovereignty, in its most basic sense, is being redefined not least by the forces of globalization and international co-operation. States are ... instruments at the service of their peoples and not vice versa." During his tenure as Australia's foreign minister, Evans served as co-chair of the International Commission on Intervention and State Sovereignty, which invented the term "responsibility to protect." In his capacity as co-chair, Evans also played a pivotal role in initiating the fundamental shift from sovereignty as a right to "sovereignty as responsibility." Evans presented Responsibility to Protect at the July 23, 2009, United Nations General Assembly, which was convened to consider the principle. Soros: Right to 'penetrate nation-states' borders'
Soros himself outlined the fundamentals of Responsibility to Protect in a 2004 Foreign Policy magazine article entitled "The People's Sovereignty: How a New Twist on an Old Idea Can Protect the World's Most Vulnerable Populations." In the article, Soros said "true sovereignty belongs to the people, who in turn delegate it to their governments." "If governments abuse the authority entrusted to them and citizens have no opportunity to correct such abuses, outside interference is justified," Soros wrote. "By specifying that sovereignty is based on the people, the international community can penetrate nation-states' borders to protect the rights of citizens. "In particular, the principle of the people's sovereignty can help solve two modern challenges: the obstacles to delivering aid effectively to sovereign states, and the obstacles to global collective action dealing with states experiencing internal conflict." Evans sits on multiple boards with Soros, including the Clinton Global Initiative. Soros is on the executive board of the International Crisis Group, a "crisis management organization" for which Evans serves as president-emeritus. WND previously reported how the group has been petitioning for the U.S. to normalize ties with the Muslim Brotherhood, the main opposition in Egypt, where longtime U.S. ally Hosni Mubarak was recently toppled. Aside from Evans and Soros, the group includes on its board Egyptian opposition leader Mohamed ElBaradei, as well as other personalities who champion dialogue with Hamas, a violent offshoot of the Muslim Brotherhood. WND also reported the crisis group has also petitioned for the Algerian government to cease "excessive" military activities against al-Qaida-linked groups and to allow organizations seeking to create an Islamic state to participate in the Algerian government. Soros' own Open Society Institute has funded opposition groups across the Middle East and North Africa, including organizations involved in the current chaos. http://www.mrc.org/bmi/commentary/2011/Unreported_Soros_Event_Aims_to_Remake_E ntire_Global_Economy.html Unreported Soros Event Aims to Remake Entire Global Economy Left-wing billionaire's own experts dominate quiet push for 'a grand bargain that rearranges the entire financial order.'
Two years ago, George Soros said he wanted to reorganize the entire global economic system. In two short weeks, he is going to start - and no one seems to have noticed.
On April 8, a group he's funded with $50 million is holding a major economic conference and Soros's goal for such an event is to "establish new international rules" and "reform the currency system." It's all according to a plan laid out in a Nov. 4, 2009, Soros op-ed calling for "a grand bargain that rearranges the entire financial order."
The event is bringing together "more than 200 academic, business and government policy thought leaders' to repeat the famed 1944 Bretton Woods gathering that helped create the World Bank and International Monetary Fund. Soros wants a new 'multilateral system," or an economic system where America isn't so dominant.
More than two-thirds of the slated speakers have direct ties to Soros. The billionaire who thinks "the main enemy of the open society, I believe, is no longer the communist but the capitalist threat" is taking no chances.
Thus far, this global gathering has generated less publicity than a spelling bee. And that's with at least four journalists on the speakers list, including a managing editor for the Financial Times and editors for both Reuters and The Times. Given Soros's warnings of what might happen without an agreement, this should be a big deal. But it's not.
What is a big deal is that Soros is doing exactly what he wanted to do. His 2009 commentary pushed for "a new Bretton Woods conference, like the one that established the post-WWII international financial architecture." And he had already set the wheels in motion.
Just a week before that op-ed was published, Soros had founded the New York City-based Institute for New Economic Thinking (INET), the group hosting the conference set at the Mount Washington Resort, the very same hotel that hosted the first gathering. The most recent INET conference was held at Central European University, in Budapest. CEU received $206 million from Soros in 2005 and has $880 million in its endowment now, according to The Chronicle of Higher Education.
This, too, is a gathering of Soros supporters. INET is bringing together prominent people like former U.K. Prime Minister Gordon Brown, former Fed Chairman Paul Volcker and Soros, to produce "a lot of high-quality, breakthrough thinking."
While INET claims more than 200 will attend, only 79 speakers are listed on its site - and it already looks like a Soros convention. Twenty-two are on Soros-funded INET's board and three more are INET grantees. Nineteen are listed as contributors for another Soros operation - Project Syndicate, which calls itself "the world's pre-eminent source of original op-ed commentaries" reaching "456 leading newspapers in 150 countries." It's financed by Soros's Open Society Institute. That's just the beginning.
Volcker is chairman of President Obama's Economic Advisory Board. He wrote the forward for Soros's best-known book, 'The Alchemy of Finance' and praised Soros as "an enormously successful speculator" who wrote "with insight and passion" about the problems of globalization. Economist Jeffrey Sachs, director of The Earth Institute and longtime recipient of Soros charity cash. Sachs received $50 million from Soros for the U.N. Millennium Project, which he also directs. Sachs is world-renown for his liberal economics. In 2009, for example, he complained about low U.S. taxes, saying the "U.S. will have to raise taxes in order to pay for new spending initiatives, especially in the areas of sustainable energy, climate change, education, and relief for the poor." Soros friend Joseph E. Stiglitz, a former senior vice president and chief economist for the World Bank and Nobel Prize winner in Economics. Stiglitz shares similar views to Soros and has criticized free-market economists whom he calls "free market fundamentalists." Naturally, he's on the INET board and is a contributor to Project Syndicate. INET Executive Director Rob Johnson, a former managing director at Soros Fund Management, who is on the Board of Directors for the Soros-funded Economic Policy Institute. Johnson has complained that government intervention in the fiscal crisis hasn't been enough and wanted "restructuring," including asking "for letters of resignation from the top executives of all the major banks."
Have no doubt about it: This is a Soros event from top to bottom. Even Soros admits his ties to INET are a problem, saying, "there is a conflict there which I fully recognize." He claims he stays out of operations. That's impossible. The whole event is his operation.
INET isn't subtle about its aims for the conference. Johnson interviewed fellow INET board member Robert Skidelsky about "The Need for a New Bretton Woods" in a recent video. The introductory slide to the video is subtitled: "How currency issues and tension between the US and China are renewing calls for a global financial overhaul." Skidelsky called for a
new agreement and said in the video that the conflict between the United States and China was "at the center of any monetary deal that may be struck, that needs to be struck."
Soros described in the 2009 op-ed that U.S.-China conflict as "another stark choice between two fundamentally different forms of organization: international capitalism and state capitalism." He concluded that "a new multilateral system based on sounder principles must be invented." As he explained it in 2010, "we need a global sheriff."
In the 2000 version of his book "Open Society: Reforming Global Capitalism," Soros wrote how the Bretton Woods institutions "failed spectacularly" during the economic crisis of the late 1990s. When he called for a new Bretton Woods in 2009, he wanted it to "reconstitute the International Monetary Fund," and while he's at it, restructure the United Nations, too, boosting China and other countries at our expense.
"Reorganizing the world order will need to extend beyond the financial system and involve the United Nations, especially membership of the Security Council,' he wrote. 'That process needs to be initiated by the US, but China and other developing countries ought to participate as equals."
Soros emphasized that point, that this needs to be a global solution, making America one among many. "The rising powers must be present at the creation of this new system in order to ensure that they will be active supporters."
And that's exactly the kind of event INET is delivering, with the event website emphasizing "today's reconstruction must engage the larger European Union, as well as the emerging economies of Eastern Europe, Latin America, and Asia." China figures prominently, including a senior economist for the World Bank in Beijing, the director of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the chief adviser for the China Banking Regulatory Commission and the Director of the Center on U.S.-China Relations.
This is all easy to do when you have the reach of George Soros who funds more than 1,200 organizations. Except, any one of those 1,200 would shout such an event from the highest mountain. Groups like MoveOn.org or the Center for American Progress didn't make their names being quiet. The same holds true globally, where Soros has given more than $7
billion to Open Society Foundations - including many media-savvy organizations just a phone call away. Why hasn't the Soros network spread the word?
Especially since Soros warns, all this needs to happen because "the alternative is frightening." The Bush-hating billionaire says America is scary "because a declining superpower losing both political and economic dominance but still preserving military supremacy is a dangerous mix."
The Soros empire is silent about this new Bretton Woods conference because it isn't just designed to change global economic rules. It also is designed to put America in its place part of a multilateral world the way Soros wants it. He wrote that the U.S. "could lead a cooperative effort to involve both the developed and the developing world, thereby reestablishing American leadership in an acceptable form."
That's what this conference is all about - changing the global economy and the United States to make them "acceptable" to George Soros.

Afghanistan and resetting relations with Russia. Obama aides believe those issues are now on more solid footing,
I read that treaty. And what it says is this, that a world government is going to be created. The word "government" actually appears as the first of three purposes of the new entity. The second purpose is the transfer of wealth from the countries of the West to third world countries, in satisfaction of what is called, coyly, "climate debt" because we've been burning CO2 and they haven't. We've been screwing up the climate and they haven't. And the third purpose of this new entity, this government, is enforcement. So, thank you, America. You were the beacon of freedom to the world. It is a privilege merely to stand on this soil of freedom while it is still free. But, in the next few weeks, unless you stop it, your president will sign your freedom, your democracy, and your humanity away forever. And neither you nor any subsequent government you may elect will have any power whatsoever to take it back. That is how serious it is. I've read the treaty. I've seen this stuff about [world] government and climate debt and enforcement. They are going to do this to you whether you like it or not.

$100B/Yr Climate Finance Challenging, But Possible (global taxes!) - UN Panel (Soros)
WSJ ^ | Nov. 5, 2010 | Selina Williams Raising $100 billion a year of climate finance by 2020 is challenging, but possible through mechanisms including carbon markets, domestic carbon taxes and a variety of international transportation taxes, a United Nations advisory group said in a report Friday. This is more than just a manufactured crises, this is a total transformation of our American way of life. With the middle class people loosing their homes and credit while at the same time hiring overly paid laborers to build bridges and roads, insulate our homes, we can see our demographics flip. With our manufacturing gone, our young will be forced to take those high paying manual labor jobs from the illiterate illegal aliens. The illegal aliens will be easy targets for the anti-capitalists like the teachers that run www.uniondelbarrio.org . These teachers were downtown passing out their flyers, pictured at their site, trying to incite a revolution. While our teachers failed this time around, things will get worse for all of us and it is only a matter of time before they succeed in their revolution. They have the numbers and they have the pulpit. If illegal alien kids failed to become indoctrinated in high school they will have a second chance at UCLA. http://www.cultureandmediainstitute.org/articles/2010/20100810135735.aspx and http://www.uclaprofs.com/articles/dirtythirty.html and http://gseis.ucla.edu/faculty/pages/mclaren/ These trains you have heard about recently are intended to force Americans back into the city, further putting pressure on the illegal aliens living there. See SB 1619, Christopher Dodd (D-Conn) http://www.personalliberty.com/conservative-politics/liberty/socialengineering-bill-in-senate-will-force-you-into-city/ . Did you pay attention to the U.N. * There are many reasons to be a Democrat. You only need one reason: Legalize drugs Gay marriage Anti-war Anti-capitalist Green Environment (not the same as green) Pro-illegal aliens or open borders Welfare for the poor A hate for over-paid CEOs Affirmative action Inequities in wealth Too many people in prison The list goes on No matter what your agenda is, the people you have elected have been influenced by lobbyists, people with money. These people you have elected have a different agenda, and that is socialism. In most cases that means union jobs. In their eyes, everyone will become middle-class, no more poor people, no more people committing crimes for money, no more homeless. But who will use the services of the unions? Nobody I know would hire a union worker that has limited skills imposed upon him by his union and a pay scale well above what an average handyman makes. The only people that would hire a union worker is the government and government funded projects. Someone has to pay for this, and that person is the taxpayer. This is not a perpetual motion machine, unions do not create more than they take in. Unions will be dependent on people that make their money by manufacturing, something that someone else wants, the business owner, the free market system. The question is; will that person be in America or China? You also have to wonder why these socialist are trying to kill the free market and why did Pelosi kill Californias farms. Jerry Brown promises union jobs. That is why the unions are banking his candidacy. The people with money that are advancing this agenda have another agenda, and that is global governance. Socialist International (SI) http://socialistinternational.org/ and the U.N. Socialist International is something that you little people, you Homer Simpsons, just can not yet grasp. Congressman Calls For Schools To Promote The Agenda Of Climate Change, Population Limitation
Rep. John Sarbanes says more environmental education in public schools will promote the agenda of climate change and population growth. Wednesday, September 22, 2010 By Nicholas Ballasy
Glaciers and icebergs in Greenland, as seen in August 2005. (AP File Photo/John McConnico) (CNSNews.com) - Rep. John Sarbanes (D-Md.) told CNSNews.com at a "Sustainability Education Summit" hosted by the U.S. Education Department on Tuesday that
environmental education in schools can "promote the agenda" of climate change and population growth through the influence it has on children. Like I keep saying over and over again, if you get young people invested in those ideas early on, that will result in those kinds of positive policy developments," Sarbanes told CNSNews.com. "So, whether its climate change, whether its population growth, whether its all these factors that impact the health of our world, raising that awareness early among young people is only going to promote the agenda. CNSNews.com interviewed Sarbanes after he spoke at a U.S. Department of Education event--"Sustainability Education Summit: Citizenship and Pathways for a Green Economy"--hosted by Education Secretary Arne Duncan. Sarbanes also said; If we can provide them with a framework and help promote educational opportunities, in the beginning as I said, at the earliest stages, theyll just grab hold of it and take it from there. So in a sense its a wonderful partnership where the adults can create this policy framework and help support it with grant funding and other kinds of initiatives and then the young people are going to take that, and theyre the ones that are really going to push it to the next level. When asked if students should be taught that global warming is a threat, Sarbanes said: If youre promoting outdoor education, building that into educational programming, they [students] cant help but understand about climate change because theyre going to see the effects of it. Theyre going to go to a local science center , right, and theyre going to learn about the effect that global warming is having right in their own communities. I mean, for example, the National Audubon Society has an initiative now where they are highlighting the fact that state birds all across the county are actually migrating out of the states that theyre the state bird of because the climate is changing," said Sarbanes. "Well, a young persons going to understand that if they are engaged in environmental education. So, its going to raise that awareness of climate change that, in turn, I think, can make them stewards, stakeholders in policy changes we have to make to try to address climate change going forward and so, another wonderful result that you can yield if you do this environmental education. John P. Holdren, director of the White House Office of Science and Technology coauthored an essay for the World Bank on "The Meaning of Sustainability" that said that human race must face up to a world of zero net physical growth, reduce material consumption and limit population growth. CNSNews.com asked Rep. Sarbanes if he thinks those ideas would help the U.S. economy. I think the more you focus on the environment, the need to preserve the environment, protect the environment, the more its going to lead to sensible policies going forward, he responded.
Rep. Sarbanes continued, Sure, theres so much we can do in terms of reducing our consumption of natural resources and thats the lowest hanging fruit right? To implement conservative measures and so forth and again young people are in a position to help drive that new way of thinking.

The Obama administration thinks so. That's the takeaway of the "Report of the United States of America Submitted to the U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights." The introduction says it "gives a partial snapshot of the current human rights situation in the United States, including some of the areas where problems persist in our society." What human rights problems? One is the higher unemployment rate for blacks (15.8 percent) and Hispanics (12.4 percent) compared with that of whites (8.8 percent).
Unemployment is directly related to education. Blacks and Hispanics drop out of high school at a higher rate than whites. Some Asian-American groups, on the other hand, have unemployment rates similar to that of whites. Snip President George W. Bush refused to join the U.N. The United States rose rapidly from virtually nothing to become the most politically powerful and economically strongest country in the world. But the financial crisis and subsequent recession have now raised doubts about its future. Are we currently witnessing the beginning of the end of the American era? A firm belief in the individual's ability, ideas, courage, will and a reliance on one's own resources brought the US to the top. The American dream promised everyone the chance of upward mobility -- literally from rags to riches, from minimum wage to millionaire. The individual's pursuit of happiness was seen as the crucial foundation for the well-being of society, rather than the benevolent state which cares for its subjects -- and certainly not the welfare state, which provides a social safety net for its citizens. In the American system, every man was responsible for himself -- in good times and bad. [snip] Both the behavior of the American government and the Federal Reserve makes one thing clear: They do not see the solution to the US's economic woes in a return to traditional American virtues. Obama is not calling for the unleashing of market forces, as Ronald Reagan once did during an equally critical period in the early 1980s. On the contrary: Obama, driven by his own convictions and advised by economists who believe in government intervention, has taken a path that leads far away from those things that catapulted America to the top of the world in the past century. The Obama administration's current policies rely on more government rather than personal responsibility and self-determination. They are administering to the patient more, not less, of exactly those things that led to the crisis. The highest commandment of the American worldview was always to maximize individual freedoms and minimize government influence. It was an approach that was highly successful. According to that rule, self-directed action would remain the rule and government intervention the unpopular exception. But that is no longer the case.

http://www.thenewamerican.com/economy/commentary-mainmenu-43/1004 Financial Times columnist Gideon Rachman: A world government would involve much more than co-operation between nations. It would be an entity with state-like characteristics, backed by a body of laws. The European Union has already set up a continental government for 27 countries, which could be a model. The EU has a supreme court, a currency, thousands of pages of law, a large civil service and the ability to deploy military force. Another Rachman quote: For the first time since homo sapiens began to doodle on cave walls, here is an argument, an opportunity and a means to make serious steps towards a world government. Rachman again: Even in the EU, the heartland of law-based international government, the idea remains unpopular. The U has suffered a series of humiliating defeats in referendums, when plans for ever closer union have been referred to the voters. In general, the Union has progressed fastest when far-reaching deals have been agreed by technocrats and politicians, and then pushed through without direct reference to the voters. International governance tends to be effective, only when it is anti-democratic.
The jealous control of the purse by Congress is a check which would inevitably curb an ambitious president.... The comparative equality of power of the two houses, rendering each a check upon the other, the "states' rights" sentiment which prevents a gradual subordination of the Senate, and the position of the Supreme Court as final interpreter of the constitutional separation of powers all these militate against the development of responsible government. Hence it was not surprising that in the 1980s top leaders of the CFR headed up a front group, the Committee on the Constitutional System, to remove those checks and balances. Their principal playbook, Reforming American Government, infamously admitted their subversive designs. It declared: "Let us face reality. The framers have simply been too shrewd for us. They have outwitted us. They designed separated institutions that cannot be unified by mechanical linkages, frail bridges, tinkering. If we are to 'turn the founders upside down' to put together what they put asunder we must directly confront the constitutional structure they erected."

Barack Obama has bowed before the UN over Arizona immigration law
Telegraph.co.uk ^ | August 31, 2010 | Nile Gardiner http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/news/nilegardiner/100051882/barack-obama-bows-before-theun-over-arizona-immigration-law/ There can be few sights more humiliating for the American people than that of a US president kowtowing to a foreign leader or to supranational institutions. Continental Europeans are used to this sort of thing after decades of dominance by unelected bureaucrats in Brussels, and have grudgingly accepted over time the gradual and undemocratic erosion of their freedoms. But most Americans fiercely defend their national sovereignty, and find the idea of giving international organisations a say over their laws and lives completely unacceptable. 100831

Department of Justice ditches red, white and blue stars and stripes
Bruce Cunningham
Well, how interesting! It seems the U.S. Department of Justice has changed its website. Gone are the colorful red, white and blue U.S. flag decorations on the page,
And at the top of the page, is a rather interesting quote: "The common law is the will of mankind, issuing from the life of the people." Catchy, huh? Just one tiny little (too small to be relevant obviously) point -- the quote is from C. Wilfred Jenks, who in the 1930's was a leading proponent of the "international law" movement, which had as its goal to impose a global common law and which backed global workers' rights.' Call it Marxism, call it Progressivism, call it Socialism -- under any of those names it definitely makes the DOJ look corrupt in their sleek, new black website with Marxist accessories to match. See for yourself: http://www.justice.gov/ How very interesting that 'they' couldn't find a nice quote from one of our Founders. People, we have lost our Republic. We need to get it back ASAP.

The US for the first time ever has filed a Human Rights Report as part of the Universal Periodic Review with the United Nations Human Rights Council. Democrat President Barack Obama is the first commander-in-chief to seek and obtain a seat on that council. A brief mention of the Avena decision from the International Court of Justice is mentioned, and this mention should raise justice alerts throughout the country. In the section Fairness and equality in law enforcement, the US Report on Human Rights said: The Administration is also committed to ensuring that the United States complies with its international...

According to Morris, a communiqu from the meeting "essentially announces a global economic union with

We in America are under assault by the communist. We are surrounded by people that want to control all aspects of our lives, people that want to redistribute the wealth. People that want all the countries of the world to be under a communist rule. Illegal immigration is at the forefront of this communist takeover, Unions are one vehicle and Green is the other. Cap and Trade is a tax on producers. This tax is not intended to clean the air of America by redistributing the tax from polluters to non-polluters of America. This tax is for payment to the poor countries of the world. This is a global tax. Watch any youtube video of Mexicans rioting in America, they are anti-capitalist, they carry the banner of anti-capitalist in their riots. The signs they carry are printed by their union bosses. The union bosses are for a One-World-Government, Do you know about our presidents communist friends? The people that 30 years ago were planting bombs on government buildings, killing people, now teaching in our universities? Teaching our children. How can you allow your children to be taught by these murderers? Why would you allow that? What is so bad about religion? Why do you follow people that denounce your religion but espouse the virtues of a violent religion? Why is it ok with you, like NBC, to promote homosexual agendas and belittle marriage? Why?
You cant close the borders if you want a One World Government. A One World Government means there are no borders, there is a global governance, no more will the United States of America be sovereign, there will be a government above our government, we will be under the rule of a world government. There is a reason that our government does not want to get rid of the government dependent illegal aliens, their purpose here is to promote open borders and put such a burden on the U.S. as to weaken us financially so that people will cling to any job and the security of unions.

Van Jones, Obamas ex-Green Czar, April 4, 2008, I think that this green movement has to pursue those same steps and stages. Right now, were saying we want to move from suicidal gray capitalism to some kind of eco-capitalism where, you know, at least were not, you know, fast-tracking the destruction of the whole planet. Will that be enough? No, it wont be enough. We want to go beyond the system of exploitation and oppression altogether, but thats a process. Andrew Stern; America is not clearly going to be the economic super power in the long run. Our President; You go to a lot of small towns in Pennsylvania like a lot of small towns in the Midwest the jobs have been gone for 25 years and nothings replaced them and theyve gone through the Clinton administration and the Bush administration and each successful administration has said that somehow these commitments are going to regenerate and they have not. Its not surprising then they get bitter and they cling to guns and religion and antipathy toward people that arent like them or anti-immigrant stuff or you know antitrade stuff. The Weather Underground; The relative affluence existing in the United States is directly dependent upon labor and natural resources of the Vietnamese, the Angolans, the Bolivians and the rest of the peoples of the third world. All of the United Airlines, Astrojets, All of the Holiday Inns, all of the Hertzs automobiles, your television set, car and wardrobe already belong, to a large degree, to people of the rest of the world. Weather Underground again; Even when there is no organized political struggle, the pigs come down on people in everyday life in enforcing capitalist property relations, they guard stores and factories and the rich and enforce credit and rent against the poor. Again; It is the oppressed people of the world who have created the wealth of this empire and it is to them that it belongs: the goal of the revolutionary struggle must be the control and use of this wealth in the interests of the oppressed peoples of the world. Obama; I think that whether you are a white executive living out in the suburbs who doesnt want to pay taxes to inner city children for them to go to school.
Weather Underground; Any conception of socialist revolution simply in terms of working people of the United States, failing to recognize the full scope of interests of the most oppressed peoples of the world is a conception of a fight for a particular privileged interest, and is a very dangerous ideology. Machelle Obama; we are going to have to make sacrifices, we are going to have to change our conversation, we are going to have to change our traditions, our history, we are going to have to move into a different place. The unemployment rate in America is 9.5%, the teenage rate is 25.7%, African American teenage rate is 39.3%. The Weather Underground again; The relative affluence existing in the United States is directly dependent upon labor and natural resources of the Vietnamese, the Angolans, the Bolivians and the rest of the peoples of the third world. Van Jones: the warmongers, the polluters, the clear-cutters, the incarcerators---get all the support they need from the government. The problem solvers---the solar engineers and the people who are growing local and organic produce---get very little support We have to find union-wage jobs for low-income people, and those are just the sort of jobs that building a sustainable infrastructure will create. Van Jones: It would be arrogant for anybody to say that twentieth-century capitalism is the last word for humanity; that we will never invent a better way to allocate wealth. But even if capitalism isnt viable in the long term, there is no way to get to a post capitalist world except by going through a green-capitalism phase. I think there will be a post capitalist society. I cant predict what it will look like, except to say that it wont resemble the last centurys attempts in that direction. The immediate challenge, however, is to make capitalism as green and humane as we possibly can. Doing that will conceivably buy us a few more decades or centuries on the planet. Van Jones: If we want to survive as a species, we will have to live in massive mega-cities. Living at one with nature is just crap idealism from the past, and the suburbs are nothing more than archaic residue of racist white flight patterns. Van Jones: Sprawl is a response to racial fear and anxiety on the part of white elites. The 'burbs were designed as a vehicle to get away from people of color, investing more in the white infrastructure as they moved away from the city, and the neighborhoods where people of color live. Does that mean the only environmentally-sound, antiracist thing for whites to do is move back to the inner cities. Yes, it does. Obama: Community organizer 1983-1986 Obama received his training in community organizing from Saul Alinskys Industrial Areas Foundation. Obama worked with ACORN most of his professional life. Ive been fighting alongside ACORN on issues you care
about my entire career. Even before I was an elected official, when I ran Project Vote voter registration drive in Illinois, ACORN was smack dab in the middle of it, and we appreciate your work. http://newzeal.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html Obama File 58 Hilda Solis-Obama Labor Secretary's Socialist Connections Obama file 57 here Los Angeles Congresswoman Hilda Solis is to join the Obama Cabinet as Secretary of Labor. By appointing the strongly pro-union Solis, president-elect Barack Obama has sent a clear signal to his far left support base that he has not abandoned his roots.
According to the Communist Party USA's People's Weekly World One labor source said Solis name was put forward by Service Employees President Andrew Stern, whose union -- along with the Change To Win coalition -- endorsed Obamas presidential candidacy long before the AFL-CIO did. SEIU is the biggest union in CTW. But leaders ranging from CTW Chair Anna Burger to AFL-CIO President John Sweeney to RWDSU President Stuart Appelbaum all welcomed the Solis appointment. So did former House Minority Whip David Bonior (D-Mich.), now chair of pro-labor American Rights At Work, and ARW Executive Director Mary Beth Maxwell. Both had been on lists circulated for the job...Maxwell. Bonior dropped out of the running to
endorse her. Both praised Solis, who sits on the groups board... Bonior, citing his work with Solis since she entered Congress in 2001 -- he was there until 2004 -- called her a terrific leader who I know first-hand will work tirelessly on behalf of Americas working families. Sweeney said the AFL-CIO is thrilled at the prospect of having Solis as our nation's next Labor Secretary...The AFL-CIO looks forward to working with Solis as she charts new territory for our nation's working men and women. Stern is one of the US labor movement's new breed of leftist leaders-trained by the Chicago based and Democratic Socialists of America (DSA)controlled Midwest Academy. Bonior and Sweeney are both DSA members and both serve with Hilda Solis on the board of American Rights At Work. Most other ARW board members have DSA connections, including Julian Bond who was active in the DSA's predecessor, the Democratic Socialist Organizing Committee and labor academic Harley Shaiken-also touted for the Labor Secretary job. The fact that four board members of what is essentially a DSA front were the main contenders for the Labor position, is revealing. It doesn't stop there however. According to Greg Sargent of TPM "It's extraordinary," SEIU president Andy Stern said in an interview with us a few moments ago. "On every issue that's important to us, she has stood up for an America where everyone's hard work is valued and rewarded." Some labor officials had initially thought that an elder statesman type with stature would be best in the gig. But Stern said he thinks the choice of Solis by Obama, who has a keen appreciation of the power of biography, wanted someone with a bio steeped in labor, someone who has the kind of built in dedication and passion that could make her a kind of labor star in a cabinet that is stocked with a fair amount of star power already. "As opposed to some candidate [for whom] this would have been just a job, for Hilda Solis it's the fulfillment of a life-long dream," Stern said, adding that that Solis was one of the names that labor officials had privately communicated as acceptable to them in talks with the transition. "Her father was a teamster. She is the American dream." Incidentally, Stern said that the person who knows Solis perhaps best is writer Harold Meyerson...
Midwest Academy founder Heather Booth, left, Harold Meyerson centre DSA vice chair Harold Meyerson has written on American Prospect's group blog Tapped HILDA SOLIS IS GREAT. What does Rep. Hilda Solis, Barack Obamas selection for secretary of labor, bring to the job? Only a record of passionate commitment to working people, a high level of political smarts, and some genuine displays of raw guts that could make her a star of American liberalism... In the House, Solis has continued to champion labor causes, immigrants' rights, womens health and environmental protections. She also worked closely with Rahm Emanuel in recruiting Democratic House candidates from the Southwest and Latino-dominated districts, so she brings to her new job a strong relationship with Obamas incoming chiefof-staff. Now, shes in the key position to promote the Employee Free Choice Act, which seems likely to be the most contentious issue on Obamas agenda. But Solis has never been deterred by controversy. Hilda Solis is also a leader of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, the 70 odd strong group of left wing Democrats with strong ties to DSA. According to leading DSA member Duane Campbell, Hilda Solis has recently been promoted to "Vice-Chair Liaison to Women's Caucus" of the Congressional Progressive Caucus... DSA is clearly a friend of Hilda Solis, but is Hilda Solis a friend of DSA? In November 2005 Solis addressed the DSA National Convention in Los Angeles-"The New Capital of Progressive Politics?" Twenty-First Century Socialism... While the gathering was a working conventionone that differed from past meetings in that all convention business happened on the plenary floor for maximum delegate participation, two evening public sessions focused on the big picture, too. On Friday evening, a panel consisting of ACORN chief organizer Wade Rathke, Kent Wong of the UCLA Labor Center and Roxana Tynan of the Los Angeles Alliance for a New Economy looked at the level of struggles nationwide. Saturday evening delegates recognized the contributions of DSA vice chair and Washington Post columnist Harold Meyerson, Occidental College sociologist and longtime DSAer Peter Dreier and insurgent California Congress member Hilda Solis (D) who in turn provided in-depth perspectives of the political scene.
"Insurgent"? Hilda Solis also has indirect ties to the Socialist International. In June this year the SI Migrations Committee held a Migrations Reform, Integration, Rights forum in Los Angeles DSA, the SI's main US affiliate was represented by DSA National Director Frank Llewellyn plus Duane Campbell and Dolores Delgado Campbell of DSA's Anti Racism network and the Latino networks. California State Senator Gill Cedillo, was also in attendance. Hilda Solis was formally represented by Elena Henry, a caseworker from Solis's East Los Angeles Office. This was not the first time that Solis had sent a representative to a socialist gathering. According to the Communist Party's People's Weekly World of June 20 1996 The Southern California Friends of the People's Weekly World tribute to two of Los Angeles' finest labor leaders, Jerry Acosta and Gilbert Cedillo, became a dynamic rally of elected officials, activists, labor and community leaders in solidarity with labor struggles and in the fight to defeat the ultra-right in November... The audience clapped, cheered and sometimes shouted out during the spirited tribute to Jerry Acosta, regional director of the Utility Workers Union, and Gilbert Cedillo, longtime leader of Service Employees International Union Local 660. "The People's Weekly World and all of us in this room feel very strongly about who we honor today," said Evelina Alarcon, chair of the Southern California District and national secretary of the Communist Party USA, one of the emcees of the tribute. "Jerry Acosta and Gilbert Cedillo represent the new fightback vision of the Sweeney, Trumka, ChavezThompson leadership in the AFL-CIO. They represent the rank and file that is pushing from the bottom for that new vision!" Alarcon recounted many of Acosta's and Cedillo's achievements, calling them "real live working class heroes in the forefront of struggle" who "take bold initiatives on labor issues" and spearhead mass action in the fight for equality of all people. If there is any time that we value that kind of leadership, "it is now when we face the greatest electoral challenge of our time," Alarcon said pointing to the necessity "to vote out the Republican ultra-right in the Congress and in the California State legislature." Rep. Esteban Torres, a UAW labor leader in Congress, wearing his union jacket and standing tall, told the crowd, "This event would have made old Sam Kushner proud,"
referring to the late World labor reporter. Los Angeles City Councilman Richard Alarcon, on behalf of the council which adopted a resolution honoring Acosta and Cedillo, said, "Gil Cedillo and Jerry Acosta have changed the whole dynamic of what it means to be for the working class and what it means to fight for workers rights. Because of them and other labor leaders, we have seen a resurgence of strength of the least empowered in our country..." Presentations to the honorees were also made by Clara James, chair of the Community Affairs Commission of the Second Baptist Church, on behalf of Congresswoman Maxine Waters, one of the nation's most distinguished African American leaders; Antonio Aguilar, on behalf of State Senator Hilda Solis, California's first Latina elected to the State Senate, who, along with labor, led the drive to put a minimum wage increase initiative on the ballot; State Assemblyman Antonio Villaraigoza sent a message and 17 elected officials and more than 50 labor leaders put their names in the program book honoring Cedillo and Acosta. Victoria Castro, a member of the L.A. City Board of Education, sent certificates recognizing the two labor leaders. This piece is important because it shows the influence of the CPUSA in Southern Californias Politics. The CPUSA has substantial influence in the Los Angeles labor movement and by directing union money and human resources in the right direction is able to determine who gets elected and where. Richard Alarcon is now a Los Angeles City Councilor. Both Richard and his communist big sister Evelina, are close friends and supporters of Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigoza-who incidentally now serves on Barack Obama's economic transition team along side DSA member and Hilda Solis supporter David Bonior. Both Richard Alarcon and Antonio Villaraigoza were elected with strong union support. Maxine Waters is now a stalwart of the Congressional Progressive Caucus. Hilda Solis also enjoyed strong union (and CPUSA backing) when she ran for US Congress in 2000. In a report submitted to the Communist Party in November 2000 Evelina Alarcon, Vice Chair CPUSA and Chair Southern California District, commented on Hilda Solis's Congressional victory; The monumental victories which are occurring in Los Angeles electorally and in the workplace are because of the coalition building that the labor movement is doing with the Latino and African American community. In Los Angeles, the Labor Federation not only targeted three congressional districts but it had organized 250 volunteers to help State Senator Hilda Solis win her Congressional seat by turning out the union household and
Latino vote... We in the Party can also be proud because our members were involved in all the targeted electoral efforts... In 2007 Hilda Solis, endorsed Sen. Hillary Clinton for president and signed on to co-chair of the Clinton campaigns Environmental and Energy Task Force and co-chair of the National Hispanic Leadership Council. She was joined by her friend and DSA honorary chair, Dolores Huerta, former colleague of legendary Farmworkers Union leader Cesar Chavez. Dolores Huerta had the honor of formally nominating Hillary Clinton for the Democratic primary. Dolores Huerta right Together Huerta and Solis campaigned for Clinton through California and Nevada on a tour themed "Juntos Con Hillary, Una Vida Mejor" (Together with Hillary, A Better Life). By 2008 Hilda Solis was campaigning under a new slogan "Yes we can"-the anglicized version of Cesar Chavez's old battle cry "Si se puede". Solis joined Obama's National Latino Advisory Council "As the Latino community continues to get to know Senator Obama, it is clear that he is the right candidate for our issues and is the best candidate to deliver the change that America desperately needs," said Congresswoman Hilda L. Solis. "Senator Obama not only understands the struggles and diversity of our community but because of his personal history and background he will stand with us and be a fighter for our issues. I look forward to continuing to work to elect Senator Obama as the next President of the United States." Solis sure wasn't lonely. Other members of the Advisory Council included five members of the Congressional Progressive Caucus-Xavier Becerra, Ral Grijalva, Luis Gutirrez, Linda T. Snchez and Nydia Velzquez. Another member was Service Employees International Union Executive Vice President and DSA honorary chair Eliseo Medina. Eliseo Medina left, Chicago DSA dinner 2004 Also a former colleague of Cesar Chavez, Eliseo Medina and a supporter of the Communist Party newspaper Peoples Weekly World Medina also has close ties to Chicago DSA-the same people who endorsed Barack Obama during his successful bid for Illinois State Senate in 1996.
DSA has supported Barack Obama through his entire political career. Is appointing Hilda Solis to such a key position simply Obama's way of returning a favour, or is it indicative of a shared agenda? [history] The Catholic tradition often speaks of the "dignity of the human person," and we hear it so often that it's easy to lose sight of the pressing urgency and implications of this mandate. But the present controversy surrounding SB 1070 in Arizona prompts us to reconsider the immediate relevance of this tenet. As a Catholic, my faith emphatically tells me that honoring human dignity is essential to a just society. This profound belief that God's love and life are for everyone, especially the most vulnerable, compels me to action. Our tradition insists this commitment to the common good must inform our politics on a fundamental level. And it must inform our commitment both to advocating for comprehensive immigration reform and standing against SB 1070.
