Comments: Good job addressing the behavior issues at the beginning of the class. Don't let student at computer distract you from your teaching. If he asks questions that are off task, consider ignoring. You gave good non-verbal cues to get corner stopped talking. Nice, very effective. In addition to pause, hand cue and 'the look' move towards students who were chatting. When students couldn't sit at tables and not talk, good strategy to move them. when student was definat about where to sit, give him choices. You did a good job of choosing your 'battle'. Another strategy you used was to raise hands until all students were quiet, then when had their attention you adjusted your volume and spoke very quietly. Great. Today, I felt the behavior was in the way of the instruction. You moved a student to the corner. She worked hard at getting your attention . tapping/kicking/saying bad words . if you had a do over with her , what would you do? By the end of the lesson, you had her finishing her assignment and particiapting in the closing discussion. Impressive! Make sure she knows that what happened is over. You redirected them, giving them 3 minutes to finish up. Are you okay with this? *Good way to communicate what chapter they are on, putting on their exit slip.
