The share of UK music around the world currently stands at its highest level for many years and this is certainly true in both the USA and Canada. Relatively new UK acts such as Florence & The Machine, Jessie J, Mumford & Sons plus of course the (six!) Grammy award winning Adele have all been part of this - as have perennial Brit sellers such as Coldplay, The Beatles, Pink Floyd and Eric Clapton. Eight years ago, the BPI & UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) started putting together a trade mission for independent UK music companies to come to Los Angeles, to develop what was then a relatively new area for small and medium sized independents; namely Sync Licensing. This partnership has recently been supplemented by the Music Publishers Association (MPA), thereby recognising the vitally important role of the music publisher in the syncing process. Today, our delegate companies come from all parts of the music business and regularly return to the UK with not only a significantly enhanced knowledge of the whole market a degree in sync as one previous delegate put it - but also a whole new address book of contacts and, not infrequently, even a deal or two. Once again, we thank all our delegates, presenters and organisers. The mission runs on the goodwill and generous participation of all these individuals. A special thanks also to Debi Blackgrove of the BPI in London who makes sure that everybody gets to LA on time, has a hotel room to stay in and keeps all the delegates informed along the way. For the delegates themselves, I hope that this mission generates as much success as its predecessors have and we continue to deliver great UK music into the worlds largest and most exciting music and entertainment market Welcome to LA! MUSIC COMPOSITION Andy Hopkins is a film and television composer of landmark programming for the BBC. His work on the hit series Filthy Cities has recently been nominated for an Ivor Novello award and he is currently scoring the feature film Across The River for UK director Warren Malone. Along with his commercial work with Groove Armada, the Idjut Boys, his list of broadcast clients includes Discovery, EMI, Channel 4, National Geographic and JP Davidson.

MUSIC PRODUCTION / MUSIC PUBLISHING ANEMO Music Ltd (AML) is a music production, publishing and smartphone application development company based in Brighton, UK. Its core business incorporates its recording studio facilities and management and promotion of artists and their recordings. As well as its own internal songwriters, AML works with songwriter teams in the UK and US, including Michael Fallon (whose credits include working with PWL, Tony Visconti, BlackBox, Dannii Minogue, LeAnn Rimes, Honeyz, Pop Idol artists from Singapore and Australia and music for US TV series Charmed), Peter Ulrich (Dead Can Dance) and a number of up and coming UK songwriters.

MUSIC PUBLISHING Atlantic Screen Music (ASM) is a music publishing company that specialises in publishing film and television music together with a growing roster of British songwriters. ASM also operates 2 funds allowing the company to invest in films and television programmes in return for the music publishing and soundtrack rights. ASM administers its own publishing and releases the soundtracks in partnership with Universal Music. ASM recommends composers and clears source licenses for film and television producers as part of its service.

DIGITAL DISTRIBUTION / RECORD LABEL Believe Digital is the leading digital distributor and services provider for independent artists and labels in Europe. Believe also houses independent label Believe Recordings, which released the highly successful album Early In The Morning by James Vincent McMorrow, to widespread critical acclaim in March 2011. James cover of Higher Love was hugely successful as a sync in the December 2011 Lovefilm TV advertising campaign. Believe Digital is working with Soundway (Kartel), Air Records Africa, Southern Fried, Hospital, Tru Thoughts, Fat Cat, Revolver Records and many other divers artists and labels.

Set up in 2001 we have an impressive client list of: Muse, Rihanna, Placebo, the Kooks & Amy Macdonald, down to brand new exciting acts emerging in the live scene. Being the first 360 degree business in the live sector, we felt that the only thing that was missing was our own label & management company. In 2011 we created our own record label artisan records to self release 7 vinyl records for the band fiN. The label is looking to sign other acts that have a strong work ethic, both on & off stage. Now also, under the CATO umbrella is legacy management which has three acts fiN, The Roads & DEATH-AT-SEA. The Great Expectation album sampler debuts a raw sound produced by Steve Lironi (Bon Jovi) and mixed by Ash Howes with other productions from Julian Emery (Lissie) and remixes by Cenzo Townshend (Snow Patrol) with co-writes from Andy Wright (Imelda May) and Metrophonic (James Morrison).

MUSIC COMPOSITION, PRODUCTION AND PERFORMANCE Steve Marshall founded State of Emergency in 1986, out of Pyramid Studio in east London, where he learnt his craft among outstanding musicians and recording artists from around the world. His work with Lee Scratch Perry, as well as Keith Richards and George Clinton, earned him Grammy nominations in 2008 and 2011. Recently he has composed the soundtrack for Desert Crossings, a show and film which is touring internationally.
