Why did you decide to run for this office? I want to see Polk County get on a stable funding base. Continued reliance on the timber money, without finding a replacement source of funding, just isnt sustainable. 2. How much will your primary campaign cost? $2,500 3. Key endorsements you have received:

Mary Olson, Airlie Winery Claudia Austin-Pervost, Buena Vista Caf

4. Have you ever been convicted of a crime, been disciplined by a professional licensing board/organization or had an ethics violation filed against you? If so, please give the details. No 5. Have you ever filed for bankruptcy, been delinquent on your taxes or other major accounts, or been sued personally or professionally? If so, please give the details. A regional vendor I was buying from was purchased in 2005 by a national company and called the payable due in full. I didnt have enough money set aside, so they sued me. I filed for Chapter 13 bankruptcy in 2006 after closing that business. In 2009 I converted the Chapter 13 to a Chapter 7 after having a medical emergency. I didnt have health insurance and the bills totaled about $50,000. 6. Why should people vote for you? What separates you from your opponent(s)? Be specific. I helped bring Monmouth from a deficit budget position in 2003 to a positive position. In 2003 I stood my ground against the majority budget committee and City Council who wanted to cut the Planning Department and keep parts of the Parks Department. I was able to let them see that keeping the Planning Department would create revenue right now and show the development community that we were open for business. 7. What are the three most important issues you would address if elected? How? (75 words for each issue) Stable Funding. I want to see Polk County get on a stable funding base. Continued reliance on the timber money, without finding a replacement source of funding, just isnt sustainable. I would work to create tax incentives to help existing businesses add employees. I would bring together the Urban Renewal Districts and Economic Development Committees from around the County so that we cooperating to increase our business growth. Technology Infrastructure. I would work to get high speed internet to the whole county. Public Safety. As the budget keeps getting cut so does the Sheriffs Department. I would like to see us create a Public Safety District to consolidate services throughout the county. This would reduce the duplication of services that are happening now with each City handling its own Police Department and it would reduce the cost to the tax payers. 8. What do you see as other important issues? Water quality and quantity, working cooperatively with the water districts, watershed councils, and Polk Soil & Water District. Smart land use, working with farmers, wineries, grape growers, timber land

owners and the growing cities. Tourism, specifically related to the wine industry. 9. What magazines, newspapers and Web publications do you regularly read to keep up on the news and developments in your areas of interest? Magazines: Yes, Fast Company Newspapers: Statesman Journal, Itemizer Observer, Capitol Press, Oregonian, Web Publications: CNN.com, CommonDreams.org, The Other 98%, Truthout, ProjectCensored.org TV: ABC Evening News, The News Hour, Face the Nation, Washington Week, BBC News Night, Bill Moyers & Company 10. Any skeletons in your closet or other potentially embarrassing information that you want to disclose before it comes up in the campaign? No
