YMJP-B Series of Polished Rice Rotary Sieve Classifier

I. Use, Features and Scope of Equipment

YMJP-B Series of Polished Rice Rotary Sieve Classifier is the new product developed by our plant recently, mainly used for rice grading in rice processing plants. The equipment is designed and developed by absorbing the imported technology and combining the essence of all domestic manufacturers of like products. Both gyration radius and rotational speed of its sifter are adjustable. An air suction apparatus is provided to perform multiple functions such as cleaning rice bran powder and cooling polished rice. Therefore, the equipment integrates unique design ideas and superior processing properties. This product can not only be used to separating the broken rice that surpasses the set standard from the finished products, but also classify and sort the polished rice. It can be used either as associate equipment for a rice mill with a daily output of 25-150 tons or as individual machine. Meanwhile, this product can be also applied to the grading and sorting process of granular materials. This equipment has reasonably compact structure, smooth operation, low noise, stable performance, low power consumption, excellent sealing performance and long service life and is easy to install and maintain, being the preferred equipment for rice grading in rice milling process currently.

II. Operating Principle

According to different grain sizes of whole rice and broken rice, this equipment is equipped with sieve surfaces with corresponding sieve meshes. With the plane rotary motion of the sifter, the material can continuously contact with the sieve meshes on the sieve surface which is conducting the plane rotary motion. Thus the material which is smaller than the sieve mesh will go through the sieve mesh as undersize material, and then enter the next sieve surface or flow out through the outlet together. While the material which is bigger than the sieve mesh will stay on the sieve surface as oversize material, and then flow out from the machine. In this way, the separation of bigger and smaller grains can be realized.

III. Process Flow

1. Three-layer Sifting Process The polished rice that needs sorting enters the first sieve surface through the cylindrical feeding inlet and the blending plate of this machine. After screening and cleaning, the granular material that cannot go through meshes of the first sieve surface rubs against with each other, carries forward automatically to the outlet and discharges from the machine as the premium whole rice. The undersize material that can go through the sieve meshes will enter the second sieve surface for further screening through the first layer of collection plate. And the oversize material discharging from the outlet of this layer can be graded as general rice, which can also be mixed with the oversize material of the first layer by rice blending apparatus to create end product. The undersize material of the second layer enters the third sieve surface after colleting on the second collection plate. According to different configuration of mesh sizes of the sieve surfaces, the oversize material discharging from the outlet of this layer is graded as big broken rice, which can also be mixed with the oversize material of the first and second layers by rice blending apparatus to create qualified end product. The undersize material of the third layer is graded as small broken rice, or briefly broken rice. The sifting flow is shown in Figure (I). 2. Four-layer Sifting Process The four-layer sifting flow is similar with the three-layer sifting flow. The difference is that the sieve mesh size of the first layer is bigger (compared with the first layer of the original three-layer sifting), in order to improve the output and reduce the sifting pressure of the first lay of sieve surface. In this way, the sieve mesh sizes of the 2-4 layers are the same with that of the 1-3 layers of the original three-layer sifting surfaces. The oversize material of the first and second layers will be mixed together as premium rice and discharged through the outlet. The oversize and undersize materials of the third and fourth layers flows in the same way with the second and third layers of the original three-layer sifting process. The sifting flow is shown in Figure (II).

V. Structure of Equipment
This equipment uses single-pivot eccentric rotation of spring supporting rod apparatus. It is mainly composed of feeding air suction mechanism, sifter, sieve frame, spring supporting mechanism, adjustable eccentric rotary mechanism, gap bridge transmission mechanism, stepless regulating mechanism, frame and rice blending apparatus. The overall structure is shown in Figure (III). 1. Feeding Air Suction Mechanism It is composed of feeding apparatus and air suction apparatus. And the feeding apparatus is composed of cylindrical feeding inlet and blending plate. It is used to import the polished rice into the sifter smoothly and onto the sieve surface evenly. The air suction cylinder of air suction apparatus is connected to external ventilation network. The air suction volume is generally kept in the range of 2.5m3/min to 3m3/min. The air is mainly used to clean the rice bran powder in the rice and cool the discharging rice, in order to prevent the mill dust in the sieve from bonding and mildewing. 2. Sifter The sifter is composed of steel wall plates on the left and right, bending steel bar, angle steel, channel steel, sieve frame access lock mechanism, undersize material collection plate, top convex steel cover, discharging nozzle and discharging end closure plate. These components are connected by bolts or welded into a whole. The central part of the whole lower channel steel is connected to the adjustable eccentric rotary mechanism and the four squares are connected with the spring clamping block of spring supporting mechanism. The angle steel bars inside the steel war plate on both sides support the sieve frame and keep a certain inclination. A removable ventilation plate is installed at the center of top convex steel cover to observe at any time the sorting of material and the temperature and humidity of discharging polished rice. The discharging nozzle collects the graded materials and discharges them to the outside of the machine. In short, the function of the sifter is to perform the grading and sorting of materials according to the specified flow on the sieve surface which is conducting plane rotary motion. The graded rice and big and small broken rice are discharged to the outside of the sieve through the outlets of different layers, and then enters the rice blending apparatus. 3. Spring Supporting Mechanism This mechanism is composed of bourdon spring, supporting bar and spring clamping block and base clamping cover. Its main function is to connect the frame and support the sifter. With the elastic force of the bourdon spring, the sifter conducts steady plane rotary motion according to the specified track under the drive of eccentric transmission mechanism. 4. Sieve Frame

The sieve frame is composed of hard Northeast pine wood, sieve surface of punching steel plate, gauze wire cloth, rubber jump ball, rubber packing and closure plate of access lock. The rubber jump ball is used to clean the punching sieve surface and the gauze wire cloth is used to support the rubber jump ball. 5. Adjustable Eccentric Rotary Mechanism This equipment adopts he single-pivot eccentric rotation mode. It is composed of upper and lower axles, adjustable eccentric block, eccentricity balancing block, eccentricity balancing weight, upper and lower bearing blocks and triangular belt-wheel. Its structure is shown in Figure (IV). The center distance between the two axles on the eccentric block and the adjustable eccentric block is 35mm to 40mm. The whole sieve body is driven to conduct the plane rotary motion through the small band pulley on the electric motor and gap bridge transmission mechanism, by connecting one end of the upper axle with the channel steel at the central part below the sifter through the upper bearing block, and connecting one end of the lower axle with the triangular belt-wheel through the lower bearing block fixed on the frame. The eccentricity balancing weight is fixed on the balance block. The rotating radius of the eccentricity balancing weight can be adjusted according to the eccentricity of the two axes. When the eccentricity is increased (the rotating radius of the sifter is increased), the vibration of the sieve frame will be strengthened. Now the vibration of the sieve frame can be eliminated by increasing the rotating radius of the balancing weight. Otherwise, its rotating radius shall be reduced. The eccentricity can also be adjusted according to the material changes. When the temperature of sifting material is too high or the sifting volume is excessive, the eccentricity can be increased (increasing the rotating radius of the sifter); otherwise, the eccentricity shall be reduced. The adjustment method is as follows: loosing the fixed bolts on the adjustable eccentric block first, and then adjusting its eccentricity to the required dimension, and finally screwing the loosed bolts on the adjustable eccentric block, so as to achieve the adjustment purpose. 6 Gap Bridge Transmission Mechanism It adopts the triangular belt transmission (two-stage transmission) mechanism for speed reduction. The gap bridge transmission mechanism is composed of the large gap bridge belt wheel, gap bridge bearing support, gap bridge shaft, small gap bridge wheel, bearing and so on. Its structure is as shown in the figure (V). 7 Stepless Regulating Mechanism The mechanism is set in order to be adaptable to the needs of changing technologies such as the moisture content, yield, screening efficiency of the raw grain and so on. It is composed of two parts such as the variable transmission mechanism and the screw mandrel regulating mechanism. Where the variable transmission mechanism has the center-to-center distance between the fixed belt wheel set on the motor shaft and the large gap bridge belt wheel in the gap bridge speed reduction transmission, which makes the flexible belt wheel move up and down under the pressure of the spring in order to change the contact diameter of the adjustable belt wheel and the triangular belt and achieve the continuous regulation purpose. The stepless regulating mechanism is not only flexible and convenient for regulation but also is possible to achieve the continuous adjustment without stopping the machine. 8 Frame The standard hot-rolled steel channel, I steel beam, angle steel and so on are welded together to form the frame with advantages such as small size, good rigidity, beautiful appearance and so on. It is used for supporting the transmission parts, connecting and supporting the sifter by the spring supporting mechanism and the sifter is driven by the eccentricity transmission mechanism to make plane rotary movement at the specified radius of gyration. 9 Dosing Scale The dosing scale is formed by welding, riveting or butting the four charging dosing cylinder nozzles, four discharge nozzles and the dosing box which are bent with steel plates. The outside of the dosing box is configured with one flexible reverse turning bed for observation in order to observe and check at any time the broken rice content and whole rice content of the rice of different grades that go into the box. Two

flexible dripping plates are installed in the box. The premium rice, general rice and big broken rice can be blended mutually by moving the location of the flexible dripping plate inside the dosing scale based on the needs of the user and the technological requirements.

VI Equipment Installation
1. The equipment shall be installed on the solid foundation. The foundation surface at the installation position must be smooth so as to ensure the equipment is under the level condition and minimize the vibration of the sieve body as much as possible. 2. Horizontal operation space that is over 1.6m high shall be left at the withdrawal end of the sieve frame for the convenient sieve surface cleaning and sieve frame changing.

3. One air suction duct shall be installed above the vicinity of the discharge nozzle and connected with the air suction cylinder port of the air suction device to remove the rice bran powder in the polished rice, cool the material in the machine and prevent the powder dust in the sifter from bonding together and going moldy. 4. Before installation, four sets of anchor bolts for the M12 equipment shall be embedded in the foundation plane, and the outcrop length shall be no less than 30mm. 5. At the time of equipment installation, the contact places of the four feet of the frame bolted with anchor bolts and the foundation surface shall be filled and tamped and then the nuts of the anchor bolts shall be screwed up. The nuts shall not be screwed tightly before the positions of the four feet are filled and tampered. It will result in the deformation of the base plane of the frame, intensify the vibration of the whole equipment in the process of operation and seriously affect the service life of the equipment. 6. The installation location and dimension of the anchor bolts, feeding ports and discharge ports are as shown in Figure (VIII) and Table II.

VII Operation, Commissioning and Use of Equipment

The process effect of the equipment is closely related to the variety and moisture content of the raw grain, the eccentricity (rotary radius of the sifter), the rotating speed of the sieve body, the mesh size on the sieve surface of the sieve frame and so on. The operator shall master the correct operation and use methods proficiently. 1. Before running the equipment, comprehensive and careful check shall be carried out to see whether each component is firmly connected or not, whether the transmission and running parts, fasteners and other connection parts are loose or fall off or not, whether there are the phenomenon of collision and mutual friction or not by turning the transmission parts by hand, whether each rotary and regulatory parts are flexible or not, whether the tightness of the bead apex is appropriate or not and so on. 2. At the time of starting up for commissioning, attention shall be paid to see whether there are abnormal sound and taste or not, the rotation direction of the sifter is consistent with the direction of steering indicator or not during the process of operation. If any question is discovered, the equipment shall be stopped immediately and be coped with properly. 3. Observe whether the whole equipment is running smoothly and whether the four feet of the frame jump up and down or not. during this period if the jumping clearance is found in the under-chassis, iron sheets with similar shape and different thickness can be padded first, and then the check shall be done to see whether the frame is installed in the same horizontal plane with the foundation plane, until each underchassis does not jump any longer. 4. If the equipment can run smoothly and steadily after debugging (or adding gaskets), the anchor nut shall be screwed tightly, and then the feeding and discharge pipes as well as the air suction duct shall be properly connected. The dust guard shall be put on properly and then the equipment shall be started for commissioning. If there is no abnormal phenomenon, materials can be charged and the equipment can be put into normal production after the idle running of the equipment for 1 minute to 2 minutes.. 5. Before stopping the equipment, feeding materials shall be stopped first, and the equipment shall continue running for several minutes in order to discharge all materials inside the equipment to the greatest extent before stopping the equipment to prevent materials from stacking inside the sifter. 6. The regulation work can be done in the running process of the equipment. The rotation speed of the sieve body can be regulated according to the technological requirement. The rotation speed can be regulated by turning the hand wheel according to the direction indicated on the speed indicator. 7. Eccentricity (rotating radius of the sifter) must be regulated after the equipment is stopped. Its technological requirements and regulation methods are the same with those for the eccentricity rotary mechanism stated above. 8. The sieve surface clearing or sieve frame changing must be carried out after the equipment is stopped. The hold-down mechanism of the sieve frame shall be loosened first, then the original sieve frame shall be withdrawn and the resetting work shall be performed in the reverse sequence after the sieve surface is cleaned up with fine steel brush. At the time of changing sieve frames, the original sieve frame inside the sifter shall be withdrawn first and the rubber seal shall be bound onto the sieve frame needing to be replaced. After the sieve frame is put in, the rubber seal and the left and right wall plate partition of the

sifter shall fit and be sealed to prevent the materials in sifting and on the sieve surface from jumping and leaking. 9. According to the requirements for the broken rice content in processing different grades of rice, the selected whole rice and broken rice can be blended proportionally by moving the position of the flexible dripping plates inside the dosing scale to obtain the grade of rice that meets the requirements of users. 10. After the equipment is put into normal production, materials shall be fed continuously and evenly. Too large or too small feeding amount will both affect the process effect. Strict precautions shall be taken to guard against the blocking of the discharge port in the process of production which may cause that the sifter is full of materials and the machine parts are damaged. 11. The equipment shall be equipped with sieve frames with different sieve surface mesh sizes. Reasonable selections can be performed in the process of use according to the differences such as the variety, granule size of the material and so on. The selection of sieve frames with proper sieve surface meshes and the control of the material on the sieve surface to a certain thickness at the same time may make whole rice and broken rice separate well and then achieve satisfactory sifting effect. 3. After having operated for a year, the spring tube in the spring support mechanism shall be checked periodically for losing effects of elasticity. On conditions that other structural components and the transmissions part operate normally, when operating the equipment, if the vibration of the sieve body intensifies or the sifter is not steady, the spring tube shall be replaced. 4 The transmission parts shall be lubricated periodically: The lubricating oil for transmission bearing shall be replaced after it has operated for six months. The lubricating oil shall be replaced immediately as long as the bearing overheats, the grease hardens, the oil color becomes dark or there is globs or feculence on the oil surface. The slide surface of the speed governing belt wheel shall be filled Albany grease once a month, the filling part is shown as Figure (VI). The oil can be pressed in through the pressure grease gun or filled in by dismantling the sliding belt wheel. The fit part between the speed governing guide screw and the supporting seat shall be added oil every three months, the oil adding part is shown as Figure (VII). 5 The assembly requirements for the main structure of the equipment after inspection: The fit between inner and outer circles of the bearing and the transmission bearing and the bearing seat shall be stationary fit. The thickness of the moving around clearance cushion between the upper and lower axle and the bearing cap, etc shall be adjusted to millimeter. The main line in the speed change belt wheel on the motor shaft and the large gap bridge belt wheel in the gap bridge transmission mechanism shall be adjusted to the same horizontal plane. It can be changed by adjusting the position of the motor surface on the motor baseboard; otherwise it will lead to the

insensitiveness of speed regulating.

IX. Transportation, Storage and Keeping of Equipment

1. Four lifting lugs are assembled into the frame which is in the lower part of the equipment. Generally, the lifting can be performed through using wire ropes to pass the lifting eye or by using the lifting hook to hook the rings. If necessary, the lifting can be achieved through hooking the steel channel in the lower part of the sifter directly. 2. During transportation, the equipment must be loaded and unloaded lightly, prevented from placing upside down, and shall avoid collision and stress. 3. The equipment shall be stored at dry and well ventilated places to protect from rain and corrosion of corrosive gases. 4. The equipment shall be cleaned up and protected from rusting when it is out of use for a long time.
