AP Comparative Government Yongsan International School of Seoul Country Project As students of government it is vital for you to learn in a collaborative

environment. Thus, you will be assigned to research one of our core countries in depth. With the information you compile, we will be creating an iBook that will be a study guide for yourselves and other AP students around the world! Information Components
Sovereignty, Authority and Power- Political culture, communication and socialization, Nations and States, Supranational Governance, Sources of Power, Regime Types, Types of Economic Systems, State Building, Legitimacy and Stability, Belief Systems as Sources of Legitimacy, Governance and Accountability. Political Institutions- Levels of Government, Executive, Legislatures, Parliamentary and Presidential Systems, Electoral Systems, Political Parties, Party Systems, Leadership and Elite Recruitment, Interest Groups, Bureaucracies, Military and other Coercive Institutions, Judiciaries Citizens, Society and the State- Cleavages and politics, Civil Society and Social Capital, Media Roles, Political Participation, Social Movements, Citizenship and Representation Political and Economic Change- Revolution, Coups, and War, Trends and Types of Political Change, Trends and Types of Economics Change, Relationship Between Political and Economic Change Public Policy- Common Policy Issues, Factors Influencing Public Policymaking and Implementation

Technical Components
Informational Article: an informational article should be provided for each country and be no more that 400 words in length. The article should highlight the major themes listed above and include key terms from each unit. Review Questions: ten multiple-choice questions based on each country for review. The questions should be analytical in nature, comprised of the major information that you need to know for that country. Photographic Gallery: a collection of ten relevant for each country. Be sure that the pictures are relevant and of good resolution. Include a document with captions for each picture explaining the context. Be sure the place in a sub folder when submitting the project. Vodcast: Create four vodcasts, about thirty seconds a piece, on topics for your country. The topics can be your choice but, the vodcast must include Keynote with a voice over. Make sure the presentations are clear and based on relevant topics. Save in Quicktime format. Leadership Chart: Create a leadership chart for each country. Charts should include al major political institutions and a 1-2 sentence explanation of their function. Optional (Choose two): Create a short Keynote (about five slides), 3D image, or a list of five relevant outside sources.

Current Event Articles: The class before your scheduled discussion, provide the class with a collection of 10 current event articles on your country of study. These articles should be shared in a Google collection with the rest of the class. Current Event Discussion: Facilitate a discussion on your current events. Be sure to prepare questions ahead of time that will stimulate discussion and further analysis of the country being discussed. Bibliography: You should have a minimum of 10 outside sources used for this project. Be sure to use an array of sources including journal, newspaper, and think tank articles. All sources should be cited in Chicago format and listed on the last page of your section.

The information from this project will be placed and formatted in an iBook. One of your group members will have the iBook software. You may all work from their computer or give them less responsibility with content and allow them to compile the information. Be sure that you are focusing on the main ideas of the themes and core countries.
