Jai Guru I met this gentleman over bulletin boards.

He has consistently shared inspiration while remaining absolutely focused on YSS-SRF teachings and his humble rightful position. The mail below really helped me to get my practicing the presence right. Please see if you would like to share thisone with others. Pranam

Dear One, Jai Guru! Thanks for reminding me to share the entire philosophy of my life :) and the Panchajanya! Panchajanya is nothing but packaging the various aspects of practicing the presence of God at one place. Panchajanya!is nothing new! Master and the ancient mystics of East-West have spoken about it with different names: Japam, Practicing the presence of God, communion etc. Yes, its an interesting concept and helps me to stay within more and more, while humbly striving to perform the duties that Master has given me through a family-job-society. its nothing but a systematic methodology to practice the presence of God. No invention from my side! ALL words here are from Master. It is easy to see that this concept is UNIVERSAL in its application and in way MUST for success in spiritual life. Some tweaks might be needed of course based on the path that one is following. However, a humble attempt has been made here to summarize the various aspects from YSS-SRF sadhana perspective. Its NOT specific to YSS-SRF but implicit to EVERY form of religion-spiritual practice.

"The Panchajanya!" or "Star of David" or "the dove coming down from heaven" or "Star and crescent" (etc.)
They say that the ESSENCE of spiritual life is to have a living-loving relation with the Infinite (God). And once knowing Him, there is NO choice but to love Him with all your heart, with all your mind, with all your Soul, with all your strength and then love thy neighbor as thyself (i.e. seeing God in everything). So its ESSENTIAL to build a personal and working relation with the Almighty. He should NOT remain an abstract image or a mere photo. He should become so personal-intimate-approachable-near that He becomes what he truly is: Father-Mother-Friend-Beloved-Guru-God.EVERYTHING.

IT IS POSSIBLE AND NECESSARY TO INCLUDE HIM IN EVERYTHING! WHAT IS NEEDED IS AN ARDENT WILL TO SUCCEED AND ENDURING PATIENCE.
The human mind has so much potential that scientists feel that we havent used beyond a tiny fraction of its known capacity. IT can easily be seen that beyond a few minutes of concentrated work per day, we hardly even use our normal known mental capacity. Without really getting into Biology-psychology, it can be easily observed that we humans operate at about 4 levels of concentration needs in our lives.

Level1: optimum concentration (Situations demanding 100% application)

Working on some important task, having an engaging conversation, meditation, reading a good book etc.

Level2: Semi-concentration (Situations demanding 50% application)

Doing some repetitive work with some element of involvement, Driving a vehicle etc.

Level3: Sub-concentration (Situations demanding 25% application)

Doing some repetitive chore which doesnt need too much attention like brushing teeth, walking etc.

Level4: Minimal concentration (Situations demanding a near nil application of ourselves)

Basically doing nothing like waiting for someone, sitting idle etc.

We can and MUST devise a strategy to utilize these varying degrees of availability in the best way possible. Here is a suggested way based on the experience of so many devotees.

The Panchajanya - Summary

Level 1 2 3 4 5 Name
Concentrated Work. semi-concentrated work Sub-concentrated work Non-concentrated work

All the time!!!

Planned activity Planned concentrated work but have a basic connect with God At 10 unfailingly. * Japam : "Aum Guru" Communion: talking, prayer, chanting-"I love you God" etc. Hansa or 6 Kriyas or anyone of the above as is suitable Live at Kutashta: See, hear, talk, smell, think, will, walkeverything!

*10 is discussed below.

Level1:
It demands that we remain focused on our work BUT we must learn to go within every now and then for a moment, to be in the presence of Divine. I call it 10 because for me personally, this practice is closing my eyes and seeing at kutashta every 10-15 seconds and just calling on Him. IT could be just Om Guru, I love you God etc. Just a continuous flow from your conscious to Him. Slowly it becomes a deep habit and you find that you are always withdrawn within and in a meditative state.

Level2:
At this level, the mind is available for a deeper connect. The most effective way I have found is Japam. While you go about doing level 2 works say driving, chant is name over and over again UNSTOPPING.

For me it is Om Guru since that is the way I connect with Divine. Go on and on and on...with feelingpassion-fervor deeper and deeper and deeper to His listening presence. However, dont lose your focus on the work at hand but ITS possible to do this very effectively since we can practically plan our entire lives while driving a car or activities similar to it. Dont let the mind go haywire into meaningless pursuits; use it to connect with Divine and in sometime you shall realize that this is the best investment of time!!!l To make this even better, also have 10 (described in Level1, going within at kutashta every now and then for a moment)

Level3:
Here, the mind is available for more extensive spiritual activity. One can still practice Japam but the option of communion is also applicable. Communion presupposes a living God with whom we have a working relationship. Hence we consciously
address the Divine in whatever aspect we have chosen, in 1 person. We converse as if He is right in front of us and its a one-2-one conversation. This ought to be done in a state which is a sum total of love-devotiondesperation-surrender-gratitude and passion. NO half-hearted talking or absent-minded activity. Show to Him that you are a passionate lover! Communion takes the following forms: Normal talking: Talking anything and everything with Him. This includes all your situations, joys, sorrows, plans etc. Dont worry if you dont hear His voice/response. With unwavering patience Go on! HE WILL SPEAK WHEN THE TIME IS RIPE. Prayer: Saying any prayer that touches your heart and kicks in a lively feeling Chanting: This is a special form of Japam where one repeats a devotional thought over and over again like an affirmation till it becomes a permanent part of our conscience. Amazing results are to be obtained by a dedicated practice of this chanting. An example that I practiced all these years, I love you Ma! This is so powerful that it must be practiced consciously many times during the day.
st

To make this even better, also have 10 (described in Level1, going within at kutashta every now and then for a moment)

Level4:
Here we are basically idle, so the best possible utilization is to practice some active meditation. 6 kriyas (if you have 15 minutes or more) or Hansa sound amazing. Master said that the more sugar you put, the sweeter it becomes. If this less than 5-6 minutes then practicing Hansa as explained in lessons with open eyes by lifting them by say 30 degrees gives magical results in your work-efficiency and sadhana both. This may even be practiced when you have just a few seconds available. You could also read a thought from His teachings or sing a cosmic chant in meditative state but Hansa or 6 Kriya are my all time favorites!

The Crowning fifth level!

A devotee once asked master if there was a way faster than Kriya Yoga. Master replied by asking the devotee to keep concentration at kutashta all the time. Now this is a powerful concept and a big hint for us devotees. Living at kutashta perennially. Every YSS-SRF technique-meditation involves this as a pre-requisite. A yogi (esp. in YSS-SRF) will really make himself/herself blessed by staying at kutashta ALWAYS. This means that you practice this CONSCIOUSLY through all levels (1-2-3-4) and of course even during meditation. Couldnt make it sound anymore attractive and important!!! But how does one live at kutashta while his/her eyes are open? When we are outside in the world (eyes open), we ought to not look at kutashta as in meditation but look from kutashta! This is to mean that we have to feel-believe-practice that we are not seeing from the 2 physical eyes but from a singular eye at the point between the eyebrows. This spiritualizes the act of seeing by keeping a part of your conscience riveted at kutashta. Similarly for hearing, feel-believepractice that its being done by a singular ear at the kutashta-Christ center.

Similarly, living at kutashta would include seeing, talking, hearing, smelling, listening, thinking, willing, everything from kutashta. The practice of seeing from kutashta should extended to all of the above mentioned activities and all others in our life. The ultimate aim is to do anything and everything consciously from kutashta center. I simply couldnt end to stress on the importance of this mighty experience. This single habit can change your entire life!!!! And I can humbly assure you that its possible. All it needs is sincerity and enduring

patience. Some additional points

1. Nothing in this world works till we begin to be sincere towards ourselves. Sincerity also includes CONSISTENCY and will wherein, once we have determined to do something, we go after it with all our passion. Sporadic or half-hearted efforts or just a fanciful thinking wont get us anywhere near our cherished Goals. Its such good news that the true principles of success (as written in Masters book Law of Success) are true for all our goals material and spiritual. 2. We as individuals ought to be sincere towards our Goals, willful and sincere towards your endeavors. However a methodology like this will help you to go far and make your search easier. This is because its about action, right on the battlefield of your daily activities. 3. A necessary ingredient is to start NOW and NOT wait for the ideal time/age. Now and here is the best time for giving your best shot. Tomorrow, you can always aim to make it better but let the current moment be utilized in the best possible way which is immediate action while of course planning for a better future. 4. The main reason for making this so hardwired is that without rules, we are bound to let it go away. Its only by a systematic method that we can measure our true progress of our effort. Without a clear roadmap, its only too easy to forget God-Guru and remain busy with the world! 5. Nothing can take place of Guru given Pranayams: Energization exercise, Hansa, Aum technique and Kriya. They are vital and most important. None should fool himself by missing out on these and thinking that sadhana is still happening. Panchjanya just helps the main meditation by utilizing the day to day outer-world time better. In reality its nothing but systematic and conscious effort to practice the presence of God. 6. NO technique can work for you unless you remain patient. All worthwhile things in this world are to be achieved by giving your best and remaining steadfast till the results are achieved. 7. A very helpful tool is the 1-page action plan. To be sure with yourself and make the purpose crystal clear, write down your plan of action in very practical-objective words in a very concise manner. Refer to it daily to revise it. It makes life objective and simple so we can focus on the essentials rather than be caught up in thoughts-feelings-emotions-situations. Read this 1 page daily and live by it religiously! You might like to include a short table of planned activities under this Panchjanya for a revision too. Have included a sample above. I humbly start mine with the wordsGod Alone! taken from Sri Gyanamata. What can be more liberating than this 1 thought which gives you the right attitude and answer to every situation of our lives. 8. Monitoring the progress on a regular basis is vital for any worthwhile endeavor. An important point here is that we are not monitoring the result (fruits of action) but the action itself. We might need to look towards the results of course but that is being done primarily to judge our actions for fine-tuning them. The best way to do this is to review your progress every night before you go to sleep, to see the overall trend and planning-strategizing for the next day. A good way is to read your half page action plan and see what all components were done well and where is the need for improvement. One might also like to review the progress intermittently during the day for a better management!

9. While striving for anything worthwhile in life, the devotee is just content in giving his/her best shot and then giving it to God. Anandmoyji says that this is like the attitude of a SEASONED BUSINESSMAN. He does not get Attached to the results of any outcome. If one finds that something is not working out then he/she does not say that God does not love me! ang gets moody-sad-guilty. Rather he/she applies oneself again to the best of ones availability and then surrendering the situation again to God. This way there is no scope for moods-emotions-negativity-self cursing-trouble because the Yogi simply goes on and on till the result gets manifested. So dont curse yourself or get moody if it takes time to happen or become better.
10. Reminders: Its NOT easy to remember God during activity! The mind is too fickle and can easily lose focus, only to recollect the purpose after the entire day is past. Reminders really help to keep this in tab. Here are some of the items that I tried: Reminders on my mobile, stickers and thoughts in my room-workplace, associating this (practicing the presence f God in daily life) with some recurring events in the day like an incoming call, wearing a bracelet etc. IT is important to remember that this is being done ONLY to help remember the practice. It is important to NOT overdo or forget the true purpose behind all this effort: To uninterruptedly commune with God 11. Conscious switchovers: It would help to be always conscious of activities as they happen during the day and when we switch from one level of concentration to another. This way we become more and more aware and consciously switch from 1 practice to other depending on comfort level. This all might sound to systematic in the beginning but in time you shall see for yourself, what joy and good habit it is to remember Him in your daily life. 12. Its important to remember that this is NOT a directly Guru given technique but an effort to objectively state the principles behind bringing God in your daily life. You will have to experiment with it to see what suits you best and practice with unwavering will-patience. Dont be too harsh on yourself or allow yourself to just keep flowing absent-mindedly with time. 13. Its important to remember the right spirit behind this set of practices. The aim is NOT to be a robot that performs this mechanically but bringing God in everything in a very objective and measurable way. If we feel bogged down by any spiritual practice to the extent that it gives us a sense of burden rather than joy, there is definitely some shortcoming in our understanding that needs to be corrected. 14. Also remember to pray for others through Masters healing technique twice daily in your meditations and pray in general for everyone who crosses your path daily. This is pure MAGIC! Ma said that we dont know what a great thing is done for others when we pray for them. This has a potential to change your life forever! 15. Feel gratitude for everything that comes in your life, good-bad everything. Great ones say that we should learn to be grateful to Him and through the various channels through which He operates because this is the very essence of operating the Divine laws of abundance. (as is also shown in the documentary The Secret by Rhonda Bryne)

16. Strive in everything to please the Master. Visualize that He is right here and do what you think will bring a smile on His face. Imagine not you but Daya MA doing what you are about to do. By applying the above two concepts, you will get the right attitude in an instant! Finally pray that you make the right choice. Then go forward in faith to what you think is the best plan. You simply cannot make the wrong choice this way!!!

The Great ones say that the experience of His presence is so glorious that one cannot help but witness a complete giving of self to that Higher Self. NO slavish thoughts here but something that you experience very subtly when you see your loving mother. (With God its magnified billions of time more) Words CANNOT describe the Glory of God when He begins to show up, they say. Master said, To those who THINK me to be near, I AM near God is AS near to you, as much as your thoughts ALLOW Him to be Also, God is both LAW + LOVE Law (practice of scientific sadhana as given in YSS) is NOT sufficient. Devotion (Hearts natural quality to love) is also necessary to attract the One who is beyond what we could possibly give Him. We owe our very existence to Him. This is NOT a slavish feeling but again what you have for your parents who lovingly give their entire selves for your sake. A morally powerful man who might rule the entire world would still bend in front of his parents.

The aim of Panchajanya is to bring conscious sadhana into ALL our waking hours. Its about consciously building a relationship (bridge) with Beloved God. Its also easy to see that even with regular meditation; we feel dryness or multiple challenges in our spiritual life. Devotion is one of the other key ingredients besides practicing His presence (Panchajanya), introspection (selfanalysis), spiritual reading (reading Gurus philosophy with a definite objective i.e. no casual reading), Seva, right attitude and of course patience! Moreover we ought to remember that finding God is not just a hobby or something that we like to do intermittently. Its a WAY OF LIFE. Gradually, the devotee centers his/her entire life to move around one concept i.e. finding God while performing all his/her actions-duties etc. A half-hearted or an absent-minded effort wont do! The Divine lover will NOT be content with a little love or sadhana. You have to prove your love on the cosmic scale before the Divine Beloved shall surrender itself to you. A VERY MATURE YET INTENSE DESPERATION!!! MASTER ALSO SAYS THAT WHEN DEVOTION BECOMES DESPERATION (SHARADDHA) AND THE DEVOTEE YEARNS FOR GOD AS A GREEDY MAN DOES FOR MONEY, LOVER FOR HIS BELOVED, DYING MAN FOR AIR AND DROWNING MAN FOR BREATH; ONLY THEN GOD WILL COME.

GOD IS ABLE TO COME BECAUSE SUCH A DEVOTEE, WHO IS CONSISTENTLY THOROUGH WITH HIS/HER SADHANA, PROVES TO GOD THAT NOT BY WORDS BUT BY HIS ENTIRE BEING, HE/SHE HAS SURRENDED TO THE INFIFNTE. IN THE EMPTINESS OF THE VESSEL OF OUR LIVES LIES ITS FILLING TO THE TOP BY ETHER (GOD CONSCIOUSNESS). ANS SADHANA IS THE WAY TO MAKE THAT VESSEL EMPTY OF ALL THE HUMAN GARBAGE OF EGO-MOODS-KARMA-TEPTATIONS-DESIRES-EMOTIONS ETC. GET BUSY AND MEAN BUSINESS WITH HIM!!!! Pre-requisite to Panchajanya: Concept of God
Its IMPORTANT to first have a DEFINITE concept of God. We have been so used to this finite physical body that we cannot even imagine a formless-infinite God. That is why ALL religions have used symbolism to help the seeker channel his seeking, by focusing on some form or the other. Its a POWERFUL yet easy way to become ACQUAINTED with Him. The hitherto unknown God becomes KNOWN by seeing Him in a relationship, with which we can begin to feel intimate and closer. It could be Father (Shiva, Heavenly Father, Krishna, etc.) , Mother (Shakti, Divine Mother, Kali etc), any Avatar or even your own Guru(Master)! Begin to connect with God in the chosen aspect and channel all your sadhana through this medium. Now He is no more just a photo or a name but has come Alive with whom you begin to share everything in your life. Joys, sorrows, queries, feelings, emotionseverything! It doesnt matter whether you get a response or not. What really matters is that you really believe that someday when the time is ripe, you will hear your cosmic beloved talk with you. As Master said, He walks with me, He talk with me and tells me that I am His own. Master also said that God is very shy. He wont come out in open unless He is sure that you really love Him. We have ignored Him for ages and NOW is the time to consciously commune with Him. Many people feel that they cant see God as so humanly personal or say such intimate things to Him. This not true! The Soul experiences such intimate emotions during our human existence. And He is our creator! He is the source of all our human emotions and intimacy and Himself the greatest lover of us all! Saints say that He can be so personal that one doesnt need anyone else. In Him, PURE Love is to be found coupled with Bliss-Satisfaction-Protection; everything that the heart craves for. As He begins to manifest in your life, you shall find that you can see Him in any other aspect in which you can visualize Him with true love.

There is so much more that I shall humbly like to share with you all. Hopefully in the next few mail exchanges. You know my favorite quote is from Sri Daya Mata, I am nothing and I am content in that. Because when I am nothing then my God is everything and I am content in that!

May we have His continuous blessed presence in our lives; and through our sincere sadhana, become worthy disciples of our Great Master. Jai Guru Jai Ma!
