DSS TERMS

-Rapid Application Development (RAD) A design methodology that specifies incremental development with constant feedback from the customers. The point is to keep projects focused on delivering value and to keep clear and open lines of communication. Oral and written communication is not completely adequate for specification of computer systems. RAD overcomes the limitations of language by minimizing the time between concept and implementation

-Quantitative Analysis Expressing a decision problem in mathematical terms and measuring or estimating variables in the problem formulation. A quantitative analysis of a problem is a step in building a Model-Driven DSS. Decision support special studies often involve quantitative analysis.

-Requirements gathering A process of documenting systems needs. Business rules are gathered as part of the requirements gathering process for a decision automation system.

-Scalability The ability to scale hardware and software to support larger or smaller volumes of data and more or less users. The ability to increase or decrease size or capability in cost-effective increments with minimal impact on the unit cost of business and the procurement of additional services.

-Ad-Hoc Query Any spontaneous or unplanned question or query. It is a query that consists of dynamically constructed SQL and is one capability in a data-driven DSS.
