Description of Classroom: 3rd grade class, students are 7-8 years of age, class of 21 in a suburb school 10 girls 11 boys, 3 students are on Progress Monitoring 1 student is on a Behavior Modification plan for ADD. Background: Students have been introduced to fractions, know how to describe fractions, how to find equivalent fractions, and know how to compare fractions using models. This is the seventh day in a unit on fractions. Content Objective(s): Given previous knowledge and handout students will complete 12-7 Daily Spiral Review Given an interactive video and teacher led practice, students will be able to individually complete problems from the workbook/worksheets. Language Objective(s): Listening: Students will listen to teacher instruction, and information. Students will listen to peers as they describe their findings. Speaking: Students will ask and answer questions during the lesson. Reading: Students will read written instructions and word problems. Writing: Students will write their answers to all math problems and describe their thinking on the Quick Check worksheet question number 4. Nevada Standards: 3. NF.2 a & b: Understand fractions as a number on the number line; represent fractions on a number line diagram. Represent a fraction 1/b and a/b on a number line diagram by marking off a lengths 1/b from 0-1 and 0. Teaching Strategies: Gradual Release, whole group discussion. Warm Up Activity: Students will individually complete the Daily Spiral Review activity and write vocabulary in math journals. After ten munities the teacher will review the problems with the class. Lesson Sequence: (1 hour 20 min.) 1. Warm Up (20 mins) 2. Teacher will lead participation in interactive video on pearsonsuccessnet.com (15 min) 3. The class will complete problems 1 & 2-28 evens only on page 291-293 of text (20 min) 4. The students will individually complete the Reteach and Quick Check worksheets (10 min) 5. The students will share their findings as a class (15 min) Accommodations: All required accommodations will be met.
