Attributes to be measured: Within the administered questionnaire presented the issue of depression among college

students. Tuskegee University students were asked to express their attitudes about depression among college students by answering questions that pertained to various factors that contribute to college students being/becoming depressed. There were three background questions that were asked on the survey to determine whether or not a students age, classification, or gender played a particular role in depression among college students. Some of the questions that were asked within the survey pertained to the students (respondents) attitude about their academic major, whether or not their school work causes them to stress, their attitude about completing college, the problems that they have back at home, their parents education level, etc. This information is essential because it will be used for individuals to understand why college students are depressed, or are on the brink of depression. Having college students themselves express their attitudes about what causes depression among college students, gives people a lucid understanding of what college students experience in school and in their personal lives that may cause them to become depressed. The survey that college students complete will assess the statistics that have been made about the causes of depression among college students. Overall, every college student may face different situations in their school life and their personal life. The survey results will show the various reasons why depression falls so heavy among college students. The questions within the survey that addresses ones age and classification, will determine whether or not a college student experiencing depression depends on the maturity level of the person. Some individuals are able to handle major stress and life situations based on their maturity level. The question in the survey that addresses the students

gender will exhibit whether or not there is a difference in the issues that college students both male and female face. The questions will assess where the students issues lie. III. Hypotheses, expectations, or research questions: In result to the survey Depression among College Students, I hypothesize that depression among college students is caused by financial barriers that are placed in students way and students experiencing major stress from their grades and their academic major. However, I think that the respondents parents education level will have an effect on their attitude about completing college. I expect the respondents who do not have any problems in the area of academics to have problems back at home. Majority of college students experience stress from the problems within their personal life. The level of stress that a student faces will have an effect on their overall performance while in college. I expect to see a greater number of respondents who have a low grade point average to have a higher rate in the area of not expecting to complete college than the respondents who have a high grade point average. I also expect to find that the being away from home while attending college plays a major role in depression among college students. The respondents who attend college away from home will experience more anxiety and fatigue than those who go home very often while attending college. Students who are away from home may become home-sick because they are not able to go home as much while in school.
