1. Determine and locate (from the point A on the left) the resultant force of the forces in figure below.

Also, determine the distance that the car had travelled during this period of time. 7. A stone is thrown vertically upwards with a velocity of 15 m/s. Determine the greatest height and the time taken to reach it. Neglect air resistance. 8. A 50 kg object is dropped from a 20 m height building. Determine the velocity of the object when it is at 5 m level above the ground. 9. A car starting from rest moves along a straight track reaches acceleration (a1) 8 m/s2 in time t1 = 10 sec as shown. Determine the time t for the car to reach speed 50 m/s.

10. Starting from rest, a particle moving in a straight line has an acceleration of a = (2t - 6). What is the particles velocity at t1 = 6s and what is its position at t2 = 11s? 11. A mass of 60 kg has its velocity increased from 5 m/s to 15 m/s in a time of 3 seconds. Determine the force required. 12. For how long does a 250-N force have to be applied to increase the velocity of a 50-kg mass from 100 to 135 m/s? 13. Force P is applied as shown in figure below for 5 seconds. Determine the velocity increase of the block at t = 5 seconds.

14. The 40 kg crate shown below rests on a horizontal plane for which the coefficient of kinetic friction is k = 0.3. If the crate is subjected by two forces F1 = 800 N to the right, and F2 = 200 N to the left, determine the velocity and displacement of the crate in 8 s starting from rest.

It is brought to rest in 18 complete revolutions by a braking torque. The applied torque is 160 Nm throughout. Find the braking torque required. 21. The spring shown in following figure has a free length of 0.6 m and a spring constant of 1.2 kN/m. Determine the work required to move the lever to vertical position.
