Introduction Briefly outline the purpose of the assignment. Part 1 Types of assessment (1.1) Explain (level 3) / analyse (level 4) the different types of assessment used in Lifelong Learning (initial, diagnostic, formative and summative). In what contexts are these different assessments used? Give practical examples of different ways these assessments may be carried out. Part 2 Methods of assessment (1.2, 1.3) Explain (level 3) / analyse (level 4) different methods of assessing learning in the classroom. How can these methods be used effectively to deepen learning? Give some examples of the methods that you currently use with your own learners, or if you are not in a teaching / training role, describe methods that you have experienced as a learner. Compare (level 3) / evaluate (level 4) the strengths and limitations of different assessment methods to meet learners needs. Involving learners in the assessment process (2.1, 2.2) How can teachers involve the learner in the assessment process? Discuss the role of peer and self-assessment in the assessment process.
