Valve Body Seat

Two pieces Allows only Self-Relieving Seat, means only one seat seal. In the event on seal is damaged, the other is forced to leak downstream. By this, NO HOT WORK can be carried out on the downstream line. Teflon / PTFE is used which is very hard material and is not as likely to form the shape of the ball, especially at lower pressure service. Has access to only one seat, the other seat is part of the body & access is not as fast and easy as the GROVE design.

Maintenance

Three pieces The Double Piston Effect is a safe, means to protect from such circumstances. If the valve seal is damaged, the pressure in the body increases the pressure on the downstream seat & will prevent any leakage downstream. Therefore, even with a damaged seal the GROVE DPE can prevent downstream venting and hot work can be carried out safely. An O-Ring design can seal against the ball, the softness of ORing allows it to form the shape of the ball & eliminate any leak path. Harder seal material is normally required on ANSI # 900 and above. Access to the valve seats is very simple, by unbolting each closure from the body.

TRIM Material Corrosion Resistance Hardness Binding from rubbing Friction Coefficient Secondary Seal Sealing

Stainless Steel Good. Susceptible to galvanic corrosion 280 Vickers Yes, because of the softness More. Required more torque. O-Ring An O-Ring design can seal against the ball, the softness of O-Ring allows it to form the shape of the ball & eliminate any leak path. Harder seal material is normally required on ANSI # 900 and above. Simply replace with O-Ring. Less

Carbon Steel Coated with Electroless Nickel Plating Excellence 780 Vickers No Less. Required much less torque. Teflon / PTFE Teflon / PTFE is used which is very hard material and is not as likely to form the shape of the ball, especially at lower pressure service. The hard seal is pressed into the Metal Seat, this will involve replacement of the Metal Seat & Teflon / PTFE seal as one assembly. More
