Leave Management system

Problem Statement What is the Problem? Leave management system is the systematic record for the leaves taken by employees, their payment and managing their rest leaves.

In the existing time, the system for management for leaves is still manual in a lot of organisations. Manual working of leave management system creates a lot of problems because of problems in management of existing data, retrieval of data and its storage.

The computerised systems for leave management are very less or negligible in various organisations which creates a lot of problems. Usually the leave management is being done by maintaining the registers for leave and the presence of an employee in the organisation. It means that even for the attendance of the employees there is complete manual working, which takes even timing and decreases accuracy.

The existing system also bears the disadvantage of a lot of paper work.

Why is it important to solve the problem? To increase the performance of the organisation Economical storage, processing and retrieval of data To increase the efficiency of the management system Reliability of the system Security of data and information To make the management system independent, i.e. no requirement of extra people for management of registers

Alternative solutions to the problem: Keeping the entire problem related to the existing system, there are number of possible solutions for these problem. These solutions are: To purchase a readymade system available in the market To hire a programmer to develop a solution To make change or modify the existing system

Proposed Solution This project aims at creating a computerised leave management system, which can allow the organisations in easy management of the leave record of the employees, its processing and also the calculation of rest over leaves and the payment of such leaves, etc.

Objectives: The key objectives of LEAVE MANAGER are as follows: To increase the performance of the organisation Easiness in storage of data by replacing the giant registers with small data cards or hard disks Security of the data from external or climatic fators Economical storage, processing and retrieval of data To increase the efficiency of the management system Reliability of the system Security of data and information To make the management system independent, i.e. no requirement of extra people for management of registers

SOFTWARE AND HARDWARE SPECIFICATION The softwares which are used to develop the system and the minimum required hardware for developing the proposed system are as follows:

Software Specifications: Language : Visual Basic Database: Ms Access O.S: Windows seven (ultimate)

Hardware Specifications: RAM : 2 GB Hard disk : 250 GB Processor : Core 2 Duo (intel)

Network Specifications: Intranet

Project category: Program, management

DATA SOURCE, COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS Following methods are used to create and collect data:

Interviews of leave managers Observation of some Govt companies Internet

From the above sources, the following issues are concluded: Time consuming and uneconomical system Data backup not reliable Problem in leave calculation Delays in payment due to manual working At times wrong payment of amount due to manual work.
