THE ESSAY THE CAUSES AND EFFECTS OF RAINFOREST DESTRUCTION Nowadays, human are destroying the earths tropical rainforests. About 80,000 square kilometres are being destroyed every year. The rainforest destruction is the act of destroying a thick forest in tropical parts of the world. There are a lot of causes and effects of the rainforest destruction. The first cause of this phenomenon is logging. The commercial logging companies cut down the trees that have been selected. The practice of the removal of trees from the forest either through the legal logging or illegal logging. However, large of rainforest are destroyed in order to remove only a fews logs. The heavy machinery used to penetrate the forests and build roads causes extensive damage. Trees are cut down and the soil is compacted by heavy machine and thus decreasing the forests chance for regeneration. Removing the selected trees from the forest causes even further destruction, especially when it is carried out carelessly. It is believed that in many South East Asian countries 'between 45-74% of trees remaining after logging have been substantially damaged or destroyed'. Therefore, logging activities contribute to the rainforests destruction. Secondly is the agriculture. Agriculture is a process of farming. The examples of the agriculture are shifting cultivation, intensive pastoral farming and so on. Shifting cultivation happens when the people who have moved into rainforest areas and established small-scale farming operations. Meanwhile, intensive pastoral farming is the branch of agriculture which concerned with the raising of livestock. They have to clear the forest because the lifes necessities increased. When the land is cleared for agriculture, there are no longer any plants left

to die and provide nutrients for living plants. The cycle is broken. Therefore, the trees cannot grow again because the carpet of dead plants is gone and finally the land becomes empty and useless. As conclusion, this phenomenon causes the destruction of the rainforest. Then, the effect of the rainforest destruction is put people and animals out of their home and destroy life. When the rainforests have been cleared, the animals loss their habitat. Therefore, it make them hard to get foods and other materials needed. When there are no food, they face difficulties to survive. Besides that, it also effects the air we breathe and effects the temperature around us. When we cut down one of the trees in the rainforest, it releases Carbon Dioxide into the air. The temperature change causes ice and snow to melt resulting in major flooding in some regions. Rainforest destruction also causes temperature warming in the surrounding areas, making it unbearable to live in. Some of the animals there have helped us to find cures and leads to various diseases. We may even be able to find a cure for AIDS or Cancer so, why not if we continue to destroy. Some of these creatures have already become extinct and future generations will never be able to witness them. Therefore, the destruction not only effects the people, but also the animals and plants. Besides that, the other effect is landslide occurs. Landslide is known as a geological phenomenon. It occurs when the stability of a slope changes from a stable to an unstable condition. There are a few types of landslide. They are included the debris flow, earth flow and so on. For the example, landslides cause one to two billion dollars in damage each year United States. When this phenomenon happens, it will cause the worst damage for the whole world. The damage of the building, the nature and the surrounding will happen. Nobody can stop the incident. Besides that, it will contribute to the worried among the people. This phenomenon oocurs without our expectation.

As a conclusion, destroying these rainforests greatly effects all of us as well. Rainforest is a precious gift from the God. Therefore, we must appreciate and take care of them properly. We must plan the systematic management to protect them.Lastly, the destructin of the rainforest should be stopped.
